Star Citizen - the Gladius interceptor/light fighter - Video

The Gladius interceptor is now viewable in the hangars.

I really like the music in the introduction video, and the visuals of industrial plants in the background at dawn. Reminds me very much of the music of the "Terminator" movies and the launching of a Soyuz rocket at sunrise in Baikonur. And this is one of the ships with its own build-in jump drive (off-the-records-sikrit-military-jump-points anyone ?)   ;-)

Have fun

You know I love the look of this game.   This really looks like the next gen MMO that a lot of people have been asking for.

Plenty of depth and immersion here.

But I could look at videos until the cows come home and my question at the end is still:   When??

    Anytime soon?  Anybody know?

    Thanks

Can you post a link as to where you got that info.   I was looking on the site, but again all I see are videos and stuff, nothing about timelines for completion.

Aah, thanks that was a bit more helpful than watching the video.   I certainly did not get much confidence from that.

2017 looks pretty optimistic from what I saw.

Do they have the funds to carry this forward that long though?   You can only sell so many ships I would think.

Yes. With about 50 M$ it is pretty much covered (i posted some calculations in another thread), even taking into account all the added features since the Kickstarter campaign.  Based on a team of about 270 people over 2-3 years at industry rates.

CGI is at 61 M$ now, with 80-100 M$ as a final tally being a realistic guestimate at official game launch.  He will have quite a bit of money to spare for running servers and further polishing the game.

Any money from selling the completed game on the open market  (NOT the pledge money) would basically be profit.

    Have fun

oh my..... yes. 61 million $, since they need zero promotion budget (big publishers hate them for it!) it will fund the release game. Since the game will sell at least 2 million further copies at launch the future content and expansions are easily secured as well.

In 2017 it will have 20 million players at least, that´s a low estimate.

This is Destiny, Star Wars Galaxies and Privateer rolled up into one single monster budget indie game.

You´ll get exactly that in 2016.

(back it now for early rewards)

The game isn't releasing in 2016. Anyone who's been following the development and has an objective opinion, knows that.

There's just too much they've promised to finish by then.

    ..Cake..

If the low estimate for release is 22 million players coming, why to risk in so high level to damage the image of the company, increase the possibility of pay-to-win issues/feeling, and increase the pressure due the money grabbing machine, considering that they are 3 times beyond the money necessary to make the full game?

You know that you just talked non-sense, right? Please, tell us that it was a joke.
