Well, bought GW2, reached lvl 80 few hours ago and I am done with it, game clearly is P2W due you can buy currency!
Please don't try to prove me wrong or tell me its only cosmetic, due you can lvl up your character to 80 within one day with exchanged gold + you can buy tons of gear and lets not forget about Lions chest keys!
Now I am searching for a MMO where you can't buy in-game currency/gear from in-game shop, but I am having a hard time to find one, any suggestions?
Tired of all that P2W bs what's going on nowadays
Thanks

Path of Exile or something like WoW that's subscription based, maybe even Firefall if you like sci-fi FPS games. That's about all I can think of that isn't a complete waste of time otherwise.
A few small indie games like Blue Saga or RPG MO maybe.
Thanks for suggestions, I spent already chunk of time at PoE and in the end got bored, however I will check out Firefall.
Anyhow, what are you saying is that WoW is last MMORPG which isn't P2W?
I think its a bit to late to start playing WoW isn't it?
Not at all, it's doing better than any game out there.
I mean it's either that or be stuck in between P2W games and donating to Kickstarter projects lol.
Oh, you should try out Project Gorgon as well, it's a fun game in beta.
Well Wildstar has plex so that's out. Uhm, I guess there is FFXIV and ESO, though there is a good chance ESO is going b2p with console release and the cash shop horse is the equivalent of a tremendous currency boost to new players. So yeah I would say your choices are WoW or FFXIV unless you wanted to go super old school, I think there are still a few pre-WoW games kicking around that are purely subscription based.
Ah, so you want to pretend that a game is only P2W if the developer "officially" sells gold and/or items in the cash Shop ?
Because nobody buys gold or items from goldsellers in those games where it can't be bought from the Cash Shop ? Nobody buys level-capped and geared accounts on e-bay ?
One has completely acknowledged & allowed players to pay for currency in their game.
The other doesn't allow it, tracks & closes accounts that do buy/sell any, and you get a nice virus/keylogger from the third party website you purchased it from.
How can you even compare the two?
--
What you're failing to understand beyond that however, is the way a company conducts & runs it's game depending on their stance of being able to buy currency directly from them.
One company runs a fair game.
The other will give whoever pays the most the best items.
--
Just because 0.1% of the playerbase in the fair game broke the rules doesn't mean the game is suddenly comparable to the massive P2W game, that isn't how this works.
I mean if we were to go by your logic, there's an extremely small percent of people who get away with bank robberies, but since they got away, it must be legal to rob banks.
Im sorry to say, but I think you may just be done with MMOs. You are going to have to change your personal outlook on P2W, or just quit. Under your very vague definition of P2W, even WoW is. WoW now sells max level characters for real money. Which is exactly what your complaint was with GW2 (except GW2 still requires you to play the character, WoW just gives it you at that level already, so its even more P2W than GW2 under your definition).
If you are still interested in MMOs, I would suggest trying to not think of "everything" as P2W. Try to narrow what you feel is P2W to something more specific than just buying levels, or buying ingame currency. Neither of which make your character "better" than anyone elses. For the majority of players, if you arent actually at any advantage over another player (in GW2, if you buy your way to 80, you are still 80, same as everyone else, not better), then the game is not P2W.
Good luck in your hunt, maybe someday an MMO will be made thats not P2W for you, but now is not that day.
If you're painting some theoretical best case scenario then yes I agree with you the difference is huge.
However, if you really think only .1% of players are buying currency from third parties or that anything more than a tiny fraction of people who buy from these third parties get banned, then I think you're delusional.
While every MMO reserves the right to ban people for buying from third parties I know of no MMO that actively bans real paying customers just for buying from third parties.
All-time fave : City of Heroes/Villains
Played and returning from time to time : GW2, Tera, CO
Played: Aion, Archeage, DCUO, FXIV:ARR, Rift, SWTOR, TSW, Vindictus, Wildstar
Playing atm : WoW, Hearthstone, Tera, GW2
Let me guess, you are addicted to GW2
not addicted, i like it a lot, i played it a lot in the start and i visit once a year for a month or two..
i find that GW2 is casual's paradise, everything is handed to you, exotic gear is easy to get (ascendend is not needed), structured pvp is normalized , wvwvw is zerg fest the only "competition" in game is to look good.. thats why i disagree with the "to win" term
