I think it'll make it this time? Like 20% of the way there in a few hours? That's a good sign.

If there was ever a game that needed to be made, this is one of them. There are some seriously interesting and advanced ideas with this game.

i really got no clue how people can like this game, it was aweful...

rly bad combating system, hard to understand and so on...

last time they asked for backers they didnt recieve the goal and it was more then what it was now, and that makes me wonder... this 50000 usd they ask for now will it even be enought since Before they asked for more?.

The 50k really isn't enough to cover the development, but they're basically already there, so it can do stuff like offset marketing costs, help them secure additional investments, etc.

As far as the complexity goes, people are constantly complaining about the dumbed down versions of games these days, so it's a way to show publishers that the community will pay for innovation. That's why I say that these types of games need to get made. If they don't then what's the motivation of AAA publishers to do anything out-of-the-box?

It was in a PRE-alpha state (and still is). Yes the combat wasn't the most polished, but expecting anything to be polished in what is essentially a prototype demo is completely unreasonable. If you back this you are not backing it for what is there NOW but what will be there when they're done. You accept the mechanical and polish issues because those will be fixed, you look at the overall design decisions (and their future plans) and then decide if you think it's worthy of the money.

They are still building the game and they are much further along than most people who start kickstarters. Typically all I see are flashy images, lofty promises and a lot of hype with nothing  to back it all up. At least they have the balls to put out a playable demo, despite any issues they know they have with it, for everyone to jump into to prove that they actually have something and are working towards completing it.

The 50,000 is to make a fully playable alpha build by early 2015 that is relatively polished and filled with replayable content. They are not aiming to make the entire game, or everything they had in the last KS, with 50,000. They explained most of this in the short video. They initially promised 4 complete worlds and a crap ton of other things in the previous kickstarter. This one is far more focused and smaller in scale with only 1 world, but it seems they have pushed up the timeline for modding tools and player-run servers which is fantastic. It will give people interested in running a server a VERY early start to trying out all the tools and give them feedback on how to further develop tools for server admins and developers.

+1!!! Camelot Unchained brought a LOT less to the table than this and just about paid for it. John Romero and Brenda Brathwaite DID suffer the dubious fate of coming to the table with only a concept and failing. The first time around, these guys started their campaign too early, I think. However, at this point, they're further along than many devs.

IMO, we shouldn't accept JUST a concept. It needs to be more than that. That being said, when someone does bring interesting and innovative concepts to the table, they need to be rewarded. People don't think that Kickstarter influences industry trends, but it totally does.

Wow, just checked out the most recent dev diary here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0XSvE_jSIM and it seems like they've made some pretty decent progress.
