Is Diablo 3 worth picking up now?

MMOExposedMMOExposed Member RarePosts: 7,400

I am pretty much bored now from Archeage and GW2. I am looking for something new to play. I may go back to Rift, or worst case scenario, go back to WoW for the New X-pac which I would have to buy MoP as well I assume.

But I was thinking about trying some Isometric type MMOs or ARPGs. looking for a good one to invest into.

Is Diablo 3 a good suggestion? If not, what would you suggest?

No, Blizzard gave everyone MoP for free... all you need is the WoD expansion.

If you can cope with GW2 then you should be like Diablo3.

I personally couldn't cope with either for long because the fully invasive inspect feature removes any competitive aspect from the game.

Its almost as bad as the structured PvP in GW2.

But you like GW2 so you will like Diablo 3. I liked it but if you try to make a competitive build for the ranking ladders, it wont work because anyone can copy you similar to how GW2 ruins most competitive aspects of building.

You don't have to purchase MoP for WoW as it's now baseline (I'm pretty sure).

Diablo III is good if you buy the expansion Reaper of Souls along with it (or get the bundle).

Nothing comes to mind when it comes to the last bit; looking at Lineage Eternal, but who knows when that will come out.

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

Its the same old repetitive click fest while aimlessly leading your character through a map following another person or them following you and spamming the esc key to skip the cutscenes over and over and over again and then you finally get to the end and slaughter ponies thats it

If you've not played the game, then you should refrain from making comments about it.

D3 was worth getting at release, and it's more so now. It still has the smoothest combat, and best skill system available in recent ARPGs, with Grim Dawn's a close second. Finding good loot is much more common now, and seasons add a sense of competition for those who are interested.

Much of the hate came from people who disliked the auction house (which is no longer a factor), or were / are upset that the game isn't just D2 with better graphics. Of course even if Blizzard had taken that approach, the same people would be bemoaning Blizzard's lack of innovation or unwillingness to take risks in the design of their games.

The best free option is Marvel Heroes. Content is added constantly, the cash shop is purely cosmetic and convenience stuff, the community is friendly, and chances are there's a hero which caters to whatever your play style is. No leaderboards or rankings is a bit of a turn-off for those who like competitive PvE, but other than that the game is very solid and fun, with lots of stuff to do.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Got D3 on release and did not get into it much at that time. After ROS ( Reaper of souls)  release i got the expansion and really enjoyed it.

Got all character types to max, then kind of ran into the grind wall. You can grind for better gear to move up the difficulty levels to get better chance at better gear...well you know the drill.

Worth the price if you get the ROS expansion i say.  I got my money worth out of the game before i tired of the grind. I mostly played the game  solo and at  master and torment 1 levels. The others (normal hard expert master then torment level 1-6 ) the first 3 seemed a bit too easy.

TLDR: Play it if you have not, and you get the ROS expansion.  Should be some sales coming up around black Friday/Christmas i would think.
