Greetings,
Long time reader, first time poster.
Recently, I had to format my hard drive and went through my pictures to see if there was anything worth keeping. I only saved one picture - the end of an era. It's a screenie from coronet the night before the CU went live. Enjoy and share a tear with me.

Wow, that picture seriously brought me to the verge of tears. God I miss the good old days.
Just looking at your skills in the upper part of the screen practically brings me to tears
There were plenty of things I didnt like about the game, but it all seems insignificant now compared to what the game has become in my opinion.
Every server had protests like that the last week before cu went live; of course that is when there were still to be had crowded servers
But what struck me was even with all the problems back then the sure what to do when bored was taken care of when one could shuffle and drop skills and pick up something else
That was basicly lost along with alot of other things

I dont get it before i left i seen hardly any players but then i see 1 person telling me there are thousands, who are you trying to convince.
I like to give the benfit of the doubt so i ask, lets say there are millions of players playing SWG because in the the new NGE system its all about solo play anyway 1 or 1k player base it dont matter anymore i get more of a group going if i goto my friends house and plug in 2 joypads in PS2(OFFLINE)

sure, there are SOME people playing. I decided to try the game cause they offered me a free trial to reactivate my old account. I saw something that I couldn't believe...I logged on Friday and saw about 3 people in Theed.
WTF?? I checked to make sure i was still on my old server Eclipse. Yep, sure enough, only 3 people.
I couldn't believe it. And that's all I have to say about that.

hehe sure there are. When I quit, i saw less than 5 people on my server in an entire week (wanderhome)
Can you honestly say that populations haven't dropped since nge???

Just some random ramblings from that screenie that made this game so dear to me...
Solo Group - sometimes I had all night to play; sometimes I only had a half-hour. If the former, joining a solo group was a prerequisite for a couple reasons. First, it gave you access to the tougher critters and highest payout missions. Second, it made more enemies spawn at random lairs maximizing XP. Finally, it allowed you to strike up conversations during down time, make new friends, or just tell jokes to total strangers. If I didn't have a lot of time, I'd craft or shop for better gear, food, etc. - both eliminated now. Either way, most time was spent solo, but groups were needed for certain things, like...fighting a DJM at the MO !

The action toolbar/food/spice/brandy/combat queue. This is what really killed the fun factor for me in the CU - the loss of the combat queue. Sure, you spammed certain attacks (dervish & Head Hit 3 come to mind), but what did the CU do for me? It made me alternate between my two best attacks with no queue, and I spent more time looking at the queer icons than watching the battle, my health, or the minimap (see below).
Player bounties (red blip on mini-map in the original screenie) were the best and worst part of the game. There was nothing like the adrenaline rush of attacking my first Jedi or seeing my first blue blip hop off a speeder in the middle of Endor and turn red. Unfortunately, the system was poorly constructed as the XP loss for Jedi death fostered WAY too much hate between BH and Jedi.
Alas, I could go on forever. I just hope this game one day returns to its former glory. Peace.
