Wizard101: Four New Dungeons Open for Business

KingsIsle has sent word that four brand new dungeons have opened up in Wizard101. The dungeons become available at four different levels that allow players to delve into them for epic gear and treasures. Players at the highest levels can even learn new "Shadow Enhanced" spells.

“After finishing Morganthe’s epic story line in Khrysalis, it was finally time to delve into some hidden reaches of the Spiral where there had been only locked doors or whispered rumors,” said Josef Hall, vice president and creative director at KingsIsle Entertainment. “Our players love conquering dungeons in the hunt for rare treasures, and we’ve answered that call along with epic new stories of enlightenment, intrigue, and reconciliation.”

    The Dungeons are great...but they need a Nerf ASAP. It's virtually impossible to do beat anything in there, and that's coming from many experienced players.

    They aren't kid friendly, it's really time consuming. They are almost  impossible to experienced players imagine for casual players or kids. I'm an adult player and I can't  spend more than 2 or 3 hours playing and these dungeons take more than that to complete, with a group of 4 people. Not to mention expensive for crowns players. Lots of my friends are really upset because necessary gear and spells are in those dungeons. I wouldn't mind if the dungeons took 2 hours to complete or were able to solo, but this isn't the case. Maybe I would enter to these dungeons  when they really  nerf those.

    The Darkmoor dungeons are extremely difficult and bordering on impossible. Four experienced players with the best gear and knowledge of the cheats before hand still have a lot of trouble completing this. I think the designers are missing their target players here. This game is supposed to be family friendly and geared towards children. This is wizard101.. not a game like WOW with hardcore gamers.  I can't imagine a casual gamer being able to complete these instances. Please take another look at the difficulty level and make some adjustments.

    These dungeons in Darkmoor are over-the-top hard. It's too bad that all the creative work from the writers, artists, and so on, will never been seen by most players in person because they are ridiculously difficult. And we can't forget that MOST of the 40 million players aren't in the community, so they won't see the ending period.

     

    I understand it's side content, but this isn't difficult. It's insane. As others have said, this is a family MMO, Wizard101, not WoW (in which the drop rates are actually much better).

    I really love all the new dungeons! They're a wonderful addition. It seems to be the same people complaining over and over, and over and over and over but from what I've seen around a majority are happy with them! People don't seem to understand this is a pre-cursor to level 100 and beyond and things are going to be tough, but if its not as simple as click click click dead, some people are outraged.

    Normally, I love when KI releases dungeons. They're usually so much fun to do and farm, but this time KI took it too far. Even after many people asked them to make it easier, they didn't. Yes, it may be side content, but even though this is a family MMO I thought it was more focused on younger kids. My niece plays with me. She is only 7 and I can guarantee this is WAY too hard for her. 

    It's updates like these that cause the most outrage in the community and have everyone thinking KingsIsle does NOT listen to the players. Unfortunately, it was true in this case that they did not.

    In test I made the mistake of trying to solo the level 60 dungeons with my level 97 wizard. Sounds like I should have been able to power through that right?  Nope.  I got my tush handed to me and had to utilize henchmen  many times to get through it and I was exhausted by the end.  

    Now granted they are not intended to be soloed. The whole point is to encourage players to cooperate and to use teamwork to accomplish their goals and I think that is really awesome. Play styles WILL change and the cooperation has made us all better players. Brilliant play KI. 

    I am no hardcore player, just a long time one and I learn new stuff all the time and I make the effort to try to learn stuff from the fansite guides to educate myself and learn to be a better player. I just thought it seemed a bit too intense when a wizard 37 levels higher than the intended target cannot easily solo using a fire/life combination.   Yea these are really for the hard core players. The average players will be walking away from the commons area wondering what in the Spiral just happened. 

     

    Now that the hard part is talked about......I just cannot get over how BEAUTIFUL the new dungeons are.  As my wizard lost three levels in the test realm copy, I never got a chance to see Darkmoor yet so I have that to look forward to but from the screenshots I have seen I will not be disappointed. The  other three are incredible.  I am especially in love with Zigazag. It is beyond breathtaking.  I have some screenshot plans with my new Spirit Wolf mount that I am itching to take.  The artwork is beyond even KI's amazing standards and I just had to give a shout out to the wonderful work that was put into these dungeons.  The writing and the puns?.........Brilliant as usual.  I am still snickering over some if them and just loved the touches in the upside down pyramid.  Lovely work all around. :D

    The dungeons are alright but I just hate the fact that they weakened some of the new shadow enhanced spells

    Please Nerf the Darkmoor Dungeons, they take WAY to long, and there are way too many cheats in each battle. Your suppose to have fun with these dungeons not get a headache.

     

    The darkmoor dungeon is split into 3 instances.

     

    The first is 2 battles and 1 puzzle which takes about an hour at most.

     

    The second part is 5-6 battles, a few mobs and then 3 boss battles. This one takes about 1-2 hours.

     

    The last part where you fight Malistaire is 3 bosses, which takes about 3 hours in total. 3 battles for 3 hours? That is a little crazy.

     

    Again everything about this update is great, but we need this toned down a little. I understand its suppose to be challenging, but when the majority of people are complaining about something usually something gets done about it. I would enjoy watching some KI Staff going through these dungeons on a live stream and see how many times they die.

     

    Not even factoring in the  the bad drop rates at the end of the final dungeon.

    Sorry, but your post is pure nonsense.  It is supposed to be a kids game and it is beyond hard for them.  I tried helping them and they are just way too hard.  Know the game's audience before you post something so ridiculous.  

    Really bad decision by the development staff, kids don't have that kind of time nor the skill to do dungeons like that.  Kind of odd as it is not something they usually do, most of their updates are very kid friendly.

    Wait, a MMORPG that I always assumed was aimed at children (think Toontown) actually has grouping centric gameplay and hardcore mode dungeons that beat back all challengers?

    All this crying about the new 'raid' content being too hard. You might find a better experience with World of Warcraft, as they have a history of nerfing content for the bads.

    I have played Wizard101 almost 3 years. My level 91 Fire wizard went into the first dungeon solo. I must say that I certainly did not expect to die in the second fight considering my pet heals and my second school is life. My 3 granddaughters don't even have a chance. They will not be wasting their crowns on these dungeons. Very sad and disappointing.

    Maybe KI feels like "hey quite a bit of players are teens and or adults, so lets make it so were they feel like its challenging to them so it wouldn't be so easy and boring." Ok yea it might to the extreme point and they might have to  tone it down, but there are quite a bit of people that like it challenging and they don't feel satisfied and accomplished if it were easy. I know i would feel all that great if i can get a great set of gear in about 3 hours. Cause whats the fun in that? Dungeons are meant to be challenging and at the end of hard and long battles you get rewarded. Now yea the drop rates are quite bad, but still. Something that will take about i don't know? 3 weeks at most and if they make it easy then you get in around 1 week? what are you gonna do for the other 2 weeks, just sit around and mope around cause you got nothing to do? I feel like KI did a fantastic job at this instead of getting bad comments, at least you got new dungeons. If this is making you complain a lot, then don't do it...that's all thats to it.  Stop being such HATERS.Thx kingsisle for all your effort in making these 4 new dungeons to satisfy my bordom and probably many others.

    Today I have done the first 3 sets of dungeons! Ran a wizard on each account (2). Yes we died, fled and ported back. No big deal. Yes they are darn hard but since I was on the test almost every day I got the hang of it. I used my level 100 balance who bladed, trapped, healed and removed shields from the enemy and bad blades from us. Read up on each part on the boards at central, jot down notes and do the run. Tomorrow we run dungeon 100. Wizards who are level 100 stop complaining! You run around bragging in the commons and hating on new players, so man up! Oh and by the way I am an adult!

    Im sorry but I find this 'kids can't do it' a little offensive. I mean, just because they're younger than us doesn't mean they can't accomplish harder stuff.  My friend's child completed the dungeons easily with a few other players. While I do agree it's time consuming, stop complaning that the target audience can't do it and only older people can.

    Wizard101 is a great game.  I play it with my kids.  It's got a little something for everyone.  Even now some optional more challenging dungeons for the more hard-core players like me.  I thought the Halloween Dr. Who quests were an awesome idea too.  :)

    OK here is what I have to say to all you cry babies kids and adults because of you guys WOW got messed up I will be  dang if you are going to do Wizard101 the same way..... GO BACK TO WOW AND STAY WITH IT!!!!!! You cant handle the heat get out of the kitchen.... Wizard101 is making it where you have to team up with players and work as a team if you don't have a good team you will lose. I am guessing those of you that want to solo things is the same ones that powered leveled. I do play once in a while with my husband and when we get a together with a couple of others we have no issues with the fights no matter what they are. If we lose the first time than we go back in with a different way and win it. Its also called knowing the mechanics and how to play your class. It is that way with all MMOs learn the class and stop power leveling and one hit killing things.

    don't think going nerf the new shadow enhanced spell (storm/death) nerf before release to the live realms!

    people complain about new spell (others people think it fair & said)

    storm/death was use be:

    storm: use be: 1220 nerf 1120

    death: use be: 1100 nerf 830

    (people complain most on storm most overpower  mostly possible kill (can't weaken them dispel them,can't shield vs them?

     

    I agree spell need be nerf (don't going nerf it) people say it fair no matter what is what's you say?

    fix drop rate more (fix harder dungeon)

    beside level 100 post be powerful (now have shadow magic stat like: damage/resist/accuracy/critical/critical block/armor pierce)

    now don't universe armor pierce anymore (replace shadow pips bonus so, shadow pips be faster cast then rating of 20%) now more better shadow pips percent! 

    level 100 dungeon drop post be hard (that what level 100 is) now shadow magic be more hard with in "shadow"

    (beside new shadow enhanced spell) need shadow pips with it to "cast it" as well!
