The video games industry is relatively porous, and it’s no secret that its subgenres have been borrowing from one another for quite some time. First-person behemoths like Call of Duty have been iteratively employing RPG-like mechanics to bolster their replayability, while MMORPGs such as TERA have taken cues from third-person action games to improve upon traditional MMO combat. By and large, I’d say this cross-fertilization is a good thing for the industry as a whole, giving us all a bit of variety throughout disparate genres and keeping things fresh.

Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
i dont like 24 hour missions that are nothing more then me clicking a button then returning later.
I dont like 3 hour missions that are required to progress teh story either.
I dont like time based missions in general, its lazy, this whole getting power then assigning it to an agent and then waiting is just lazy to me, its a miss for me and i hope it doesnt show up in mass effect 4.

the illustion of progression or decision isnt necessarily a bad thing as long as it is presented in an entertaining way

I end up buying the PS4 version, because the controls trump the PC version (hearing the complaints all over).
So far I am not impressed! Extremely glad I bought a physical copy and not digital, so I can return it later.
Like I said before, and now confirmed, they just went for sheer quantity, instead of quality!
The first hour story intro was interesting. But after that and you end up in the so called open world (which it isn't, as you have to unlock each area bit by bit through timed power consuming assignments).
The story pretty much falls apart and you end up being more busy doing repetitive F2P garbage MMO like side quests and closing rifts all over the map, which so far are a one trick pony all over. Same, same, same.... getting boring real fast.
I am really getting that Tortage (Age of Conan) feeling here.
If Bioware really wanted to do a true Open World RPG, they should have looked more at Skyrim! /shrug
Interesting story and side content wise, Skyrim blows this game out of the water. There is just no contest!
The main storyline in Skyrim was fantastic. Side storylines, like the Companions were of total excellence! Giving you hours of extra entertainment on top of the main storyline.
Skyrim was true open world! No repetitive simplistic and lazy FedEx garbage! Each town had it's own unique storyline of quests, leading you through interesting dungeons, filled with traps and puzzles.
After Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3, it really does start to look like Bioware is nothing but a One trick pony!
KOTOR 1 was amazing!
Mass Effect 1 was amazing, going slowly downhill after that with ME2 and ME3. Not bad, but just not as good as the first.
Dragon Age: Origins had a fantastic storyline, sucking you in. Dragon Age 2..... enough has been said.
Dragon Age: Inquisition. Excellent art, beautiful crafted world. That's it. Content so far very unimpressive. Very repetitive, boring requisition grinds, timed assignments, etc. Crafting also unimpressive, simplistic grind. /sigh
I am absolutely agast as how so many review sites gave this game a 90 to 100 score. Wondering if they even played the game beyond the first hour of intro. /Shrug
I agree with both of you. If it was removed I wouldn't care. The fact that its their doesn't bother me either. In the end it has little impact on anything. The net result is that I'm having a blast in game on a console (PS4) for the first time in over a decade. Connecting my PS4 to a great monitor with graphics equivalent to high settings on a PC without worrying about all the driver issues people are having has been a breath of fresh air :-). This allowed me to postpone my PC buying decision as I patiently wait for a 980 ti....because I'm sick and tired of SLI being less and less supported in the early months of new releases.
There Is Always Hope!
Absolutely love the game and how it is designed. As a completionist I am still in first zone after 40 hours of playing and not near of getting out of it and I completely love it. Quests are interesting and diversified, companions have entertaining chatter while we exploring, and the area is huge and full of hidden loots etc. Crafting is much better that in other DA games and I found it very useful.
I feel like I am actually there, living the story, and I think that for roleplayers that is the highest HIGH posibble. I don't want this game to end anytime soon LOL, I absolutely love it.
Thank you BioWare!!!!!!

Agree with you there. If you dig every little secret and read every bit of paper and lore you can find the new DA is amazing. Problem is with people playing it wrong. Or its just not game for them. I would say only thing that i would like to see improved is better tactical mode (pause is more useful than tactical mode atm) and better hair Thats about it :P
Other than that im still in the first zone 30h in and im not nearly finished with it yet, there are so many hidden details that can be easily missed.
Not to mentioned majority of people wont even understand the context of main story or even side stories w/o reading all the side lore available in random notes/codex or books.
I can say i easily spent half that time reading lore alone probably

Agreed on both.
I honestly can't understand for the life of me where all this hate is coming from. The game plays (for me at least) like a mix between DAO, DA2, and the Witcher. Which is amazing. Like you guys I have barely gotten through the beginnings of the story (I think I'm 3-4 missions in), I've been way too busy exploring & unlocking new areas, finding hidden dungeons, and.. *spoiler* bumping into some farily intimidating dragons to fight.
The game's been awesome, though as a Rogue I feel a bit overpowered. That aside I'm having a blast with the game, and all my friends that are playing it are as well. When it comes to the control the only really big complaint I have is that closing some of the rifts require you to stand in one specific spot, which usually results in a very screwed up camera when trying to aim at the rifts to close it. Other than that, everything else seems fine. It could be a bit smoother in some areas, but for a DA game it's still an improvement on the first two.
That sucks a lot .
I wasn't aware it was that bad, I've been playing the game on a bootcamped macbook pro, lol. I figured if my comp could run it, most people with actual gaming PCs would have relatively no issues.
Well something is wrong with your rig one way or another. Not saying its your fault but if you for example use SLI majority of games on release dont work right. One of the reasons why i stay away from them now.
I play with everything on Ultra with 60+ FPS on Windows 8 with all the latest drivers. Gforce 880 16GB ram SSD and good fast intel processor 2700k OC to 4.5ghz.
Only issue i had was of my own making as i used the prefix for 60fps cutscene instead of 30fps. this sometimes was breaking the character creation and you had to enable it after you made character.
Already 30h in game and no crash, stuttering or any sort of issue at all.
If i would to guess you are either have slightly outdated pc, even if within the requirements, you use SLI, you use ATI. Usually its one of those 3 things.
As nice as ATI is performance vs cost, they always had issues with games where nvidia did not (unless something was optimized for ati like DA2, was saw new drivers a week later that fixed it :P)
Sometimes in rare cases it might be some malware or virus affecting your game, or even your antivirus! Yes it happen. More than once, turning antivirus actually fixed the game for a friend of mine few days ago.
Try running the repair as well. In rare cases it helps.

Just because few other games run just fine dont mean the issue is not partially on your side. Before i bought the game i (and i bought it last minute) i read all about the issues people where having and tried to decide on buying or not. But majority of them where not 100% game related and only circumstantial on very specific rigs.
Diversity is a blessing and a curse for PC. Every rig is different and many thing can go wrong. True they did not test the game enough on diverse enough rigs (happens often for console games) but the game plays just fine on majority of the rigs.
Problem is people that have issues are the loudest and you feel like there are more of them than there really are. Why ? Because everyone else is busy playing the game and not trolling the forums
I only do reply here as i do so while traveling :P

It's not just on PC, I had a few crashes on the PS4 as well during fast travel. I crashed straight to the PS4 home screen. Losing progress since the last save.
Its really impossible to tell one way or another if its his rig or not . I would say if Dragon Age doesn't play well when most/all other modern games do without a struggle then the most likely explanation is that its an issue with the game and not his rig . Also it depends on how many people are complaining online because some people complain about any game thats true but when you get an overwealming amount of them (or if some reviewers note problems as they did with Wildstar) then I guess its best to air of the side of caution . In such cases I wait for a demo or a free trial or for several months worth of patches
I'm not sure why, but Bioware always seems to be lacking in character designing. It's almost like they actively avoid creating great looking characters, or in Inquisition's case, the Frostbite engine isn't that great.
With that said, the power system in Inquisition reminds me of what they used in ME3, which was largely useless, considering nothing really mattered in the final stages of the game. Same thing with their love for approval meters and such.
I honestly don't know, but i can't see them ever returning to great games like before Dragon Age.
I love my characters. The only issue I have are hair. Most of the choices for women ar blah... but overall you can create a cool toon if you want to:
Here are my tries, two different head sets where used for them
I am playing this toon right now, she looks great on cutscenes
