I was lucky enough to participate in one of this weekend’s castle sieges as an attacker. I’d love to recall for you an epic tale of bravery and destruction, but nothing of the sort actually occurred. Instead, here’s some tips for castle defenders preparing for the next round of sieges.

no attacking guild successfully got a castle that weekend which is true
due to the main fact, that walls were buffed from original 300,000 hp to 1,200,000 hp
some guilds actaully got it down to 60% or i think i heard about one wall being broken somewhere
due to the extreme trion change, unfornately no guild got one, hopefully they will change it for next weekend
Ahahahahahaha. When I read the first paragraph of this post, I was like "Are they serious? No one needs to know how to defend their castle in this current state! They can't be serious. How can they be serious!?" then came item number 1: "Show up."
Wasn't expecting an MMORPG column to be so hilariously sarcastic.
(truthfully though, most estimates are that the defenders didn't need to show up at all and they still would have won)
:Spend APEX while Trion is still selling it... heh, and I thought the last MMORPG article was a burn.

Well I went to grab a cup of coffee when I heard how the event scroll works and saw the damage attackers were doing to the walls.
Right, because Trion is so awesome at fixing things the first time, like the Apex exploit, oh wait, they didnt fix that right the first time did they? Come to think of it, they didnt fix it correctly the second time either did they?
This game a poster child for extreme mis-management. No one knows how much control Trion actually has but it doesnt matter, either Trion has some control and they are incompetent or Trion entered a deal that allowed them no control in which case they are still incompetent. This game has earned Trion a terrible reputation, either for entering into a contract that gave them no control due to their greed or from poorly handling the game, the reputation is deserved.
How to defend your castle
Yes, it is all XL games fault and poor little old Trion has no control what-so-ever. It wasnt Trions idea to implement Apex, it wasnt Trions idea to release the game without Auroria, it wasnt Trion who advertised a 10% discount in the cash shop and I'm also sure that Trion has no say in the decision to add rumbling trees to the cash shop which crushed the economy.
I'm sure Trion doesnt touch the code but only a fool would believe that Trion has no say/control over what gets released. But you keep believing Firecat when she says Trion is blameless if it makes you feel better. I mean, no one at Trion would actually not tell the truth would they? I'm sure Mr Hartman told the truth when he said there were only 12 apex exploiters...
Its been a long time i was part of such horrible and broken mmo launch.
I do not have issues with queues as this is expected and to many servers means after 2 months you are left with tons of ghosttowns.
But from there on eveything that went wrong did go wrong.
This had the potantial to become a super fun mmo for years to play but within 60 days got train wrecked beyond repair due to all the massive exploits and mild 24 hours bans with all illigal gained items intact after the suspension.
Not to mention the regrade tricks......
The fun is gone in this mmo, even the pvp died on most servers.
Its playing farmville for 6 days a week and 2 hours of pvp if you are lucky.
Realy sad how things went down from Both Trion / XLGames.
It didn't stop there. It went from horrible and broken launch to horrible and broken game.
I have played alot of MMO's in my time and I can safely say this has been one of the worst in my experience. It wasnt just the bad launch but it seems like every week there is something new cropping up.
I have pretty much nicknamed them Radio Trion as the hits just keep on coming. In a way I feel sorry for them as its obvious XL games is an amateur outfit but at the same time Trion hasnt came out smelling of roses either.
I realise that its not all Trions fault but they definitely aren't the innocent party on all of this. I know for sure I will definitely not touch an XL game again and right now im struggling to find a reason to touch a Trion game again.
developers.
polishing someone else's turd doesn't mean they have ANY passion for a product they slap their name on. AA is a cash grab, until they piss enough people off and it finally sinks.
there is something drastically wrong at trion.
but love for their craft is not something you'll find with them. frustrating for players because they care more than the "developers" do.
and trust me, you don't want those nubs touching any code.
