Well, I quit EQ2 about a 2 months ago and moved to WoW. For the first month I was fine, no problems. I was just having a blast playing WoW and barely even thinking about EQ2. However, for the past 2 weeks I've been thinking more and more of going back. It's not that I'm getting sick of WoW (because I'm not), it's just because I miss EQ2. I dont know why. Maybe it's because I spent a year playing it an more or less went from having fun to quitting the game in half a month .... a little sudden considering. Every time I look at the EQ2 forums (both here and the official ones) it makes me think of coming back. So I haven't totally decided yet, but maybe you'll be seeing me frequent these boards once again soon.............

To the OP:
Like you I've been playing WoW and EQ2 back and forward (not through lack of trying other games, just didn't 'stick' with any others like these two).
I've been finding the time between getting burnt out on one and going to the other is getting shorter and shorter.
I wrote up a post on another thread about the PvP system as told to me by my good friend over Teamspeak. He's really excited about it.
I don't PvP in WoW. I hear the level 60s going on about the grind to the next rank and laugh. I go to TM and play the back and forward 'PvP' game for half an hour and get bored. PvP in WoW bored me to tears, and I see no point in it.
EQ2's PvP may not have any 'point' either, but I feel it'll be a lot more of a challenge, a lot more tactical, and a lot more about community and working as a big team.
If I were you, as I am doing myself, I'd think about getting back into EQ2 soon and start a new character to learn the new skill progression setup. Get familiar with your favourite class, as you'll need to be for the PvP. But again, this is pure personal opinion.
So maybe think about giving the EQ2 PvP system a good run, cos I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

Oh. My. God.
You'll only waste money to work out why you quit again in the first place, happens to me once every few months.
I resub, play for a hour and then not play again. Then in a few months i hear about a change and come back!
No matter how they change the game it wont be good.

Except for level 1-20 Tradeskilling.
It's a complete sh*tfight.
I don't know exactly what the new Tradeskills guy has done, or was thinking, but it's a major big stinking pile of a mess at the moment.
Spells that have disappeared from the recipe book.
Some of the new changes are in, yet other components that are directly effected are still the same as before (ie new way to make Adept3s, yet poisons are still the same - Adept3s no longer produce the loam needed for poisons etc)
It honestly feels like they worked on 50% of the changes, thought they were near enough to complete (ie bugged to hell) and pushed that 50% live. And so you have a mix and match of all sorts of crap going on at the moment.
Why is this terribly important?
There is going to be a huge expense attached to crafted goods when the PvP system goes live. Gathering is going to be really hard (maybe not level 1-10), things are going to cost a lot. And if we have a borked up crafting system for those levels, things are just not going to go smoothly at all.
SoE have been great with the amount of changes (no comment as to whether the changes themselves are good though...) they've put in, the amount of work they've put in, so I think they'll probably get this all cleaned up before KoS.
But the problem is with KoS (or before) the entire rest of the Tradeskill process (lvls 20-70) will be on the same system...
Or are they going to do what they've done with Tradeskills so far? Not bother to fill in the higher level stuff until people start to catch up to that level en mass (ie for those who gun ahead and level up quickest, they're usually stuck for a month or three with broken recipes).
As for LU19, as a level 26, 56, 57, no real biggy. I've tried the new progression on an alt and it is really nice. A lot more involving.
I just think the game is going to come into its own when PvP goes live. The PvP will be a major positive turn for the game (for those that like PvP) and myself and a lot of friends are looking forward to trying it. I just hope like hell the Tradeskills people at SoE get their shit together before then... It's not looking good.

This seems to be coming from SOE´s camp more and more often, many promisses made since january last year, and still most did not come trough, but if it makes you all feel better to believe what they promisse, go on ahead.

Well, I couldn't help it... I resubed lol. Been playing most of the day and I'm having a blast again, beginning to wonder why I left in the first place. Ugh, looks like I'm gonna have to lay down another $30 for KoS now.
BTW, I still have and play my WoW account.

What am i doing here? posting my honest hopinion about the game, wich i have played on and off since launch.
And i do stand by my statement, have you played EQ2 since its launch? if so, how do you feel about the almost emidiate promisses by the devs about adding a much larger armor diversity? this right after launch, to this day, almost zero progress on that front.
How do you feel about the Froglok conterversy? we had the garantee that they were in the game at launch, but aparently they were not.
Those are just 2 examples. Am i bitter about some of choices SOE made about EQ2? possibly, from a long time EQlive players prespective, EQ2 seems underdeveloped in man areas, its still a fun game to play, but that doesnt change the fact that it fell short of beeing a great mmorpg.
Right now SOE is working hard to catch up, but yet again, instead of looking to their own product and trying to polish it, they keep us buried in a torrent of mediocre content, the same aproach that ruined EQlive for many players.
Do you have any idea of what all those expansions did to EQlive? the population was so spread out that any sense of community was shatered, the game became a race to each new level cap and a constant raid grind at high level, are you so sure of yourself to proclaim EQ2 wont take the same path? with 2 expansions and adventure packs released, and the Raiding endgame coming into full swing, its sure heading that way.
