However if you want an real MMO that has an open world that requires you to do... you know what MMOs are suppose to be, is that you actually play with others both socially and gaming cooperatively then this game is not for you and hardly the best out there.  Which is not what LFR or LFD do since no one ever talks to anyone.

WoD pretty much was the final nail on the coffin with me since they went the route of continual appeasing of casuals and that they can do everything without commitment was too much for me.  I'm a casual player but this was too much of solo world feel and giving away of epics without any effort.  I want to come across a game where when I encounter strangers, it is in my best interest to work with them and not ignore em, it takes time and effort to progress my character, and less of a personal hero experience.  I'm tired of companies taking the Massively out of MMO.

The market is stagnant as hell and any decent mediocere product is going the feel like the greatest thing since slice bread.  Hopefully EQN bring some of what I'm looking for since title after title is just dissapointment as it is the same crap over and over again that we've been forced down our through over the past decade.  At least EQN is trying to bring something new to the table and try to shake things up a bit.  Hopefully they'll have some success.

WoW might be a polished game but a turd is still a turd in that they aren't trying to do anything innovative and are just milking the cow for all its worth.

Then what is the best out there?

I love how everyone whines about LFR when no one forces you to use it. You don't even get the best gear in LFR. If you are so antisocial that you cannot make friends and must relay on game mechanics to force friendship on players, maybe mmos' are not for you. In wow, you can be antisocial and never say anything, or you can be like the rest of us and join a guild with friends so you never have to use LFG or LFR unless you want to.

Having choice is never a bad thing. LFR has not ruined ANYTHING.

Wow has stood the test of time . A decade old and still going strong.

It is without any doubt the best mmorpg ever made.

No one can dispute this FACT.

However Archeage showed promise and was more along the lines of what

I wanted in MMO (sandbox) Im absolutely gutted that Trion and XL Games

ruined what couldve been something great.

These F2P games that are designed to rob you blind are a disgrace to

gaming and the only way to combat them is to just not play them since

they never end up free and end up costing more than they are worth.

A year ago i would have said you were wrong. But now i totally agree with you. These so called f2p games are nothing more than scams to be avoided. And the same goes for the ones that also have subs. to them. If anything they are worse.

You sure are getting your mileage in on posting on a VIDEO GAME YOU DONT PLAY.  You act like you know how WOW is but again and again remind everyone YOU DONT PLAY WOW therefore have ZERO knowledge of how the game is.  I mean you claim its a "lobby game" now lol.

Probably a good time to get over a VIDEO GAME.  Nothing wrong with not liking a particular video game but spamming nonsense on every thread about a VIDEO GAME YOU DONT PLAY is a little...weird.

You don't need to play wow to know how it is. You can learn without doing it yourself like people do at school. If people went  out of their way to play every game and buy every single product on earth just to be able to comment rather than learning without buying, we would all be broke.

    Your argument is fallacious.

Oh I must say its very cute of you to run to his defense.  Unfortunetly my "fallaciois argument" is based of facts.  Based on the poster I was replying to who based off his comments clearly had zero knowledge of WoW.  If you want to take the word of a person who "researched" a VIDEO GAME for the sole purpose to bash that VIDEO GAME in a forum that's your choice.  A very weird and awkward choice almost as weird and awkward as researching a VIDEO GAME you don't play so you can bash it in a forum.

And it's not everyone going out of their way to research a VIDEO GAME they attempt and mostly fail at bashing.  It's a very small percentage of individuals who have a weird obsession with a VIDEO GAME.

In all fairness, though, money spent at Taco Bell > all games & most things in general.

Wouldn't a 2004 Honda civic be more fitting to describe something so popular?

I doubt even 100 people own that classic car.

I'm picturing said 04 Civic with a metallic flame and pin-striping with spinning rims and a spoiler...

At the end of the day it's still a fucking 04 Civic, LOL.   That's exactly what WoW is.  An old generic car painted up to look less shitty.

This is ESO. Better in every measurable way, except if you hit a pebble wrong, it will need a patch.

Oh, and don't forget about the occasional backfire, or maybe it drops from 5th to 1st just for giggles?

How could it? If this car is ESO, then it has no engine.

They are promising to add a steering wheel and accelerator pedal eventually, but yeh still no engine nor front seats.

True, it isn't even an rpg anymore because there is no competitive aspect in character building.

    Its s multiplayer platformer.

Yes, the game is expensive for what it is and we are living in a world where interests are divided and scattered across so many different things, outside of gaming as well and it's one of the reasons why despite having the technology and tools we don't have those fully open, player driven, persistent, virtual worlds where you'll have so many paths to go, choices to make, that such things as lack of content and things to go will be nonexistent.

So, I'm 100% certain and happy with my decision. I'm just fortunate that I found valid reasons why I'll be very happy with my decision (for me it will be even more expensive since I'll be purchasing new headset with working mic, my parrot owned my old one and microphone makes things a lot easier for both PvP and PvE).

I'll come back later on and share my top reasons why spending every $ is worth it on WOW:WoD and as I've said before you can't go wrong buying the game, especially how things have turned out with the rest of the ARPG/MMORPG over the last couple years. At the end also 44% of the community can't be wrong, while 16-17% were still undecided. I doubt any other game out there has such backing, which by the way is just another extra evidence anyone needs to finalize their decision.

Although, being patient and waiting out a week or so post launch was a good idea. There was DDOS'ing and it was resolved. Everything is fine now. The only thing I'll do later on is give my reasons why I'm getting back to the game and why I'll be enjoying it more than everything else I've been playing this year.

¨I'm getting back to the game¨.  That pretty much say it all, since the only people who love and play WoW is the same people who have been playing the game for the last 10 years.  That make WoW the best game of the planet?, NO, just for the people who have been playing it for the last 10 years.

100 million accounts created. According to Morhaime around 30% took out a subscription.

    I don't know ... 30 million is quite a number.

I also don't think WoW is not recruiting new players anymore. Because I saw a few ones in RL even.

In an MMORPGindustry  where every other MMORPG except EVE went free to play after 2 years, it still attracts new players replacing other ones leaving after X time.

    It is only natural.

Yes WoD is currently the best MMORPG for most people out there. Even when they just start now and get a free lvl 90.

These noobs will be new fans in no time, replacing the older dudes, even in a f2p industry.

People always vote with their wallets.

We are lucky that its not co operative non massive yet!

But honestly speaking - new expansion is a great nostalgic magnet. At least newbie zones are nicely populated once again.

  • JDis25JDis25 Member RarePosts: 1,353

This new expansion is fun don't get me wrong. But it made the World feel a lot smaller than before.

The main city of the xpac and basically a village with a castle, and then there is your garrison. The city is small and your Garrison is completely isolated from others.

Garrison's are not fun to me, farming in Archeage is more fun, and it is still the most boring aspect of Archeage. It is in the actual world, you buy seeds, water them, pick them, get ganked, kill the attacker and hang his head on a spike on your porch. Garrisons is like farmville and minions from Neverwinter mixed together. You don't even need to go out to the big world to find ingredients anymore.... Remember doing this on PvP servers? i do. it was fun.

Boosted to 90 characters effectively erase 1-90 levels and zones. 1-60 is somewhat left intact due to the profession boost you get, but it just makes the game feel smaller when everyone has an instant pass to the endgame.

There is little to no world pvp.

You can hit 100 and queue from your Garrison and get the best gear without every speaking a word to anyone. Kind of strange. I can see the plus, but mostly a negative for me.

Some additions that I do like:

-World Bosses with believable loot, it's a nice touch!

    -Zones/Character models look great

-Combat is typical Wow, smooth, polished and fun.

-Dungeons and Raids are there and instanced PvP is too, same thing as you are used to, but Blizz does it well.

I have had just as much fun in other MMOs as I have had in WoW, so saying it is the best game on the planet wouldn't be accurate for me. Among the best in the world, I can agree on that.

But I will say, popular things do not mean they are more quality than unpopular things. And if you didn't like WoW before this expac, you won't like it now either.

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
