Lol, possibly the worst idea ever. Is this just Watchdog being like "Hey! Ok, so we need something hip! Suggestions?" and someone saying, "Well I just heard about this World of Warcraft thing. People seem pretty upset for some technical reasons or shenanigans."
80% of the show will be explaining what World of Warcraft is. 20% will be about the issues. 100% of the relevance will be gone by the time it airs.
Of all the shit that is wrong in the world and millions dying everyday..this is what gamers concern themselves with? a video game had shaky launch for one week and it has to be featured on watchdog? sigh.
Why do i have to be part of this over priviiliged generation. I wish i was born in some other era.
i must admit i agree with everyone , with all that is going on in the world and they through there toys out the prame because they could not play for a day or two

To be fair, even blizzard admits it did wrong and I personally would be pissed off if I received a good in condition different from what it was advertised. For example if I ordered a 2 ms latency monitor and got a 5 ms latency one.
Multiply that dissatisfaction across millions of players and its a big deal.
Still though, its oing to be interesting to see what Blizzard did wrong on watchdog tonight.
There's a difference between owning a product and renting the use of one. I hope the shows producers understand this, that unlike console or stand alone PC games you don't own WoW. You pay for access to it. That was messed up for a few days and Blizzard gave everyone five days of "credit" because of it, which I hope is also mentioned in the episode.
They missed Blizzard by a fee years. Covering Diablo III would have been much better lol. A product that still sold tens of millions of copies.

It's trendy to be outraged by something these days.
Adult: "Well this sucks. I guess I'll either wait it out, play when I can until the situation improves, or vote with my wallet and go play something else."
Self-absorbed child (of any age): OMG! U SUCK! IM GONNA SOO U! CALL MY LAWER RITE NAO! I WANT MY MUNY BACK! I GONNA CANSIL MY SUB AND NEVR PLAY THIS GAME AGAIN! ALL MY FRENDS WILL LEAVE TO AND U HAVE A DEAD GAME! NOOBS! SANBOX IS BETER ANYWAY!
There's already a thread about this, still on page 1 of the WoW sub-forums. Also, Blizz has their asses covered with the Terms of Use, which every player has to agree to in order to play the game:
"Blizzard Entertainment may be required to "shut down" one or more servers to repair the hardware, or software, related to World of Warcraft. While it is Blizzard Entertainment's intention to provide the Service all day, every day, you hereby acknowledge that Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, testing, replacement and repair of the telecommunications equipment related to World of Warcraft, as well as for transmission interruption or any other operational needs of the system."
Watchdog did some good articles when it first came out, but as the series continue on they are finding it harder to come up with the same quality issues.
Lately it's getting more obvious that they're having to scratch around to fill program time. Let's face it, if they really wanted to investigate getting value for money, they'd take a long look at their own hyper inflated BBC salaries (from public funding) v program content.
lol look at all the fans coming to defend Blizzard.
Guys, relax, its a tv program relaying the views of millions of people and sure millions of others don't agree but enough do for ti to matter.
lol look at the hater coming to bash Blizzard
Guys, relax, its a sensationalist tv program relaying the view of a small vocal minority and sure millions of sane and well adjusted people don't agree but the small minority does and a game as big as WoW will be great for ratings.

It just features two so called it consultants, one of which looked sticky whining about the queues on the first couple of days, some miss information like taking the queue times literally. Apparently being unable to play for a few days has ruined their lives and they can't go on. Ofc the 5 free days everyone got took away any sting watchdog thought they could bring to bare.
Blizzard still dropped the ball though but by the time watchdog got involved every got free day and all the issues were resolved.

I do not play WoW, and I get what you are saying. But then again a product not being what it says even if it is just for a few days is still worthy of attention. Imagine buying a movie and it takes 3 days until you can actually watch it.
No doubt Blizzard miss calculated and made errors on this release. However. saying they blindly just said fuck it lets not spend those extra money on more servers at launch I cannot really see though. It is not like the problems they had was cheaper just overlooking than the bad PR they got from it.

IS it worthy of attention? That would imply it's far outside of the norm, which is not the case at all. They might as well of made this show based on the entire industry, not one release.

That is for "Watchdogs" to decide, if they deem it worthy over another topic they should be free to do so. I feel the video was on point on most parts, WoW had issues, people complained, things got fixed. Although they might have been too late in the age of the internet. Anyway, the people on this site or WoW players are not the targeted audience for their segment.
Far outside the norm for us it is not. We are used to this stuff and accept it to an degree. But in general for people who do not play much games it is looked at as a product that a company sells and is not delivering on its "promises", by that standard it is worth attention. By a TV program? That has to be decided by whoever makes it.
1 game screwed millions of people for 2-3 days - media trashing it up.
Thousands and games ripping of customers for millions of dollars/euros/whatever every minute, every day, every year - perfectly normal.
But, I agree with Picard, free marketing for Blizzard.
Edit: Ahhaha, watching the video. No wonder why that guy make so much noise. It's widely known in EU that most of idiots playing on Stormscale (wannabe so pro pvp virgins), so not suprised at all.
Edit 2: Sad. It's like this TV show is made for retards from retards in media. Go back to fucking school!

OOooh, im gonna watch it.
Watchdog usually does a good job at reporting bad company practices so its going to be interesting to see what they say about wow.

Holy crap, I can't believe I just watched it. That's 6:45 of my life I'll never get back. What a pile of garbage.

Trekrios -- ' WOD was finally going to revive WOW because in my opinion it has been dying for such a long time'
Sounds familiar?
This is the quality of Watchdog now days. Whats next on list? ESO? Wildstar? Arch Age?
I was embarrassed even watching it.
