The Champion System

Can anyone verify where this system is at, as far as implementation? I like the way it's sounding and thinking about resubbing. I quit a month after launch because of the veteran rank grind. I know the system is supposed to be a 4 part process, but does anyone have any specifics?

I unfortunately had to leave this game because of after 3 weeks of troubleshooting with Zenimax, they couldn't resolve my issue of my FPS dropping from like 60-12 whenever I first enter combat and hit a skill to attack....so in the meantime I'm playing Dragon Age Origins ( to better understand the lore) and Inquisition at the exact same time lol. I bet I'm the only one doing that hehe.

What I don't understand about any of these changes if how it affects the solo crowd. It's probably because I haven't read up on this much. I know they are getting rid of the levels and put in the constellation passives, but where do the solo crowd go once they hit 50, still want to quest, but don't want to do the other faction zones because it doesn't fit into the lore or they would rather do those factions with alts? Does the game just end in that scenario, or are there new areas outside of the 3 factions that you solo for new quests without being forced to group? I like doing both, grouping and solo so curious about the solo part without being forced to duplicate what an alt is doing within another faction up to level 50.

I'll probably come back in a few months once Nvidia releases their next card and I get a new PC and after I've completely exhausted the hundreds of hours I'm going to play with Dragon Age lol.

So this champion system is like an extra AA layer on top of the skillpoint system? Meaning even more options to choose from?

    sounds great to me..

another problem however arises with removal of veteran zones, how much gearprogression is left in the game?

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

well a good AA system with new gear skins periodically would be a brilliant mix to have balanced play where dungeon playability does not get destroyed with each armor tier and gear > skill.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

I don't think vet zones had/have much to do with gear. I skipped them and lack for no gear. BoE and Crafted is so cheap, i don't think it was ever intended to be a sort of gear progression. You level up, ask a crafter to make the flavor you want. Most don't charge, then upgrade it. All progression is tied to skills more so than anything else.

If I'm not mistaken at 50 all the the old vet zones will open up and you can quest/delve/dolem/sky shard as you choose.

I'm still trying to figure out what this means. Does this mean that solo players don't have to go to the other factions to continue progressing via the Champion system once they hit 50..or do you have no choice...again...as a solo player?

Three weeks to implement and another 4 to 5 months to fix it.

Give Zenimaxs track record with patches i suggest wait and don't resub yet. I have 3 characters waiting to progress beyond 50 but i won't resub for another 3 to 4 months. They haven't been able to fix LFG since release so champion system feels like a tall order to go through.

"We envision it will take you about an hour to earn a champion point" - Paul Sage

"A Champion Point is earned after a still-to-be-determined amount of XP has been received by the player. That Champion Point can then be placed into the Champion System constellations, but there are some rules as to how they get placed."

Some will continue questing, some will run vet dungeons, delves, dolems, pvp, delves, what ever gives XP. The champion system is not something that is intended to be capped out like vet ranks. Your just supposed to play the game as you do. Doing so will award you player customization stuff.

Thanks. I understand the mechanics, but when you say "you're supposed to play the game as you do", is there a way to level solo outside of revisiting the other 2 factions when you hit 50..or is visiting the other two factions the only way to progress via the Champion system without being in a group and outside of doing PVP? Did they release new solo content or are they going to release new solo content without doing the other 2 factions which in my opinion would contradict the lore. Thats what I didn't like about the Vet levels. The XP or grind was never an issue to me though I definitely am a fan of the direction they are taking with the constellations.

If you want quests you do the vet ranks, which basically triples the quests from the 1-50 range.  There is a 1-player oriented zone (Wrothgar) in the works, but there is no ETA yet.  You can also effectively solo the delves and repeatable quests in Cyrodil.  Most organized endgame is group-oriented (daily dungeons, trials, PvP in Cyrodil) .  But if you haven't completed the vet rank quests you definitely won't lack for things to do.

I think in the end you want to do them all, and travel all around to gather the skillpoints
