your a happy little puppy. I would rather patches of this magnitude with bugs that will eventually get fixed than patches with no content apart from balancing weeks, aka nothing. I will go for the former, much more fun.

Originally posted by Bladestrom You should have a look at agile development methodology, deliver early and often after that - real quality. Its ok not to get it perfect first time - as long as you passionately keep seeking to improve the experience constantly. The game is seriously quality now, after a month im still at level 16 with 2 chars and I get that vanilla wow/this is an amazing experience feel, and what's more its spending a long time in a zone and getting to know it that gives that sentimentality long term - I can't rate this fame highly enough now if you like the RPG in a fantasy MMO. Special shout goes out to the mad god with the cheese fetish lol
I know about agile design methodology - and other methodologies as well. And have used "appropriate" approaches both in the EU countries and in the US. And there is a time and a place for agile development. Not OK though to - deliver aircraft and expect only a few crashes in the first year for example..
A game that did use it? GW1 may be the best example - wasn't called agile development back then but it was.
If Zen did any agile development during development it didn't show. And given that the console release was still planned until 1 week before release I wonder what they were using. And now: they are in post-production support. And people are paying for a "production standard" product not a "development" environment. The parameters change.
Anyway - glad you are having fun. Pretty much everyone has had fun through the initial levels. It was after that that things "fell away" for many and they moved on.
YEP GW1 was a great example, and ofc there is good agile, and then there is Waterfall that uses whiteboards eh :P
Fortunately a game is not an aircraft,, and Agile applies more in Production and in development imo - that's where the groundwork and discipline shines. The reason i'm guessing (we are all guessing here) that there is a form of agile thinking going on here, is that we are getting massive patches - Waterfall just cannot do this as you know i guess Better big patches with mistakes in a game, than 5 levels every 2 years that is polished to death (as an extreme example)
Also agree the levelling experience is the best part of ESO from what i can tell, thats' why i'm taking my time and so pleased about the patches incomming, overall its just nice to see a game that doesn't despise its own levelling experience.

Stamina DPS builds are common now. They've always competed in PvP.
The only big issue with stamina builds now is that they double dip their main resource (to block, dodge, etc.). Which is why I say the stamina recovery cap should be raised.
Originally posted by Shadanwolf I would like to know where it was explicitly said update 6 ends VR and completely installs the Champion system.
Last I heard the Champion System would have to be released in sections because of its scope. Also this article really builds up the update but not a hint on an official release date leaving posters to speculate.
On the positive side at least reviewers have stopped using the word 'hopefully' when talking about updates.

Yeah... since when is the entire Champion system going to be in in Update 6? I think this may give people false impressions. I doubt we'll be able to even use the constellations in Update 6, but hell if I'm wrong that will make me very happy.
I agree with one negative about the current feel of combat: All weapons seem to be at similar speeds. I only tried 2H and 1H/S, but did experiment with the atkspd enchants. You can't see a difference at all really sicne it's like <5%. With skills, however, you can tell the difference between the weapons. 2H skills are a bit slower. The power I feel with the 2H sword, though is NOT bad. I can crit with a 2H sword heavy attack for 800+ damage in ESO (and heal myself for 50% of that).
I haven't had this much fun with MMO combat since AoC. I do hate staves, but I also don't like casting classes in general. Eh I think combat is legit. Didn't really notice anything too much until people started complaining. Negativity is contagious.
The Champion System is being introduced in phases and mentioned in this very thread. It won't be until Update 7 or 8 I imagine that the current VR system will be completely obliterated.
Sounds great but they need to address the issue of stamina builds being so much weaker than magicka builds and add more skills to each line to work with. 5 skills per weapon line is just weak.
It's done already. Stamina builds are strong enough to deal with trials.
Except with the champion system they may be back to sucking since the thing limiting magicka builds currently (spell dmg cap) is going away.
I loved this game but left 3 months ago mainly due to PvP lag.
I intend to go back when it's fixed, was hoping to be back by now. But everything I read makes me feel little has changed for example in their patch notes dated 24th November
"Made some performance changes which MAY improve client-to-server communication responsiveness during high volume combat situations. We will continue to investigate this issue"
Then I read threads like this one dated 2nd December
For me and most of my guild, lag especially in PvP is what killed this game and wheh they did sort it, by the time they had, it was only 2 to 4 weeks away from their next update which almost always made it worse again.
They call it an update, I call it a patch. It's fixing the stuff they should have launched with. I am most excited by the change in animations...If they do a decent job, I may even start to play again. I've been so disappointed by this game, but it's worth a second chance.
combat animations are not bad, what is TERRIBLE and makes the combat less fluid is the targetting. Remove traditional mmorpg targetting and suddenly it becomes the best combat in an action mmo.
what i dont understand or like is that ALL class skills use magicka making you have to either gimp your class skill potential or your weapon skill potential due to stat resource pool conflicts
some Developers... it's like here it is, take it or leave it.
oh and we did change some things because we wanted to encourage ingame store spending but we are letting you know after the fact. we fixed a few things that aren't broke and your just gonna have to learn to live with the fundamental flaws present since launch. because basically it's making cash and we feel it's good enough.
you know what the difference is?
some companies see their games as they're property above all, creative decisions are for the benefit of their profit.
others are passionate about what they have created and welcome players to be involved in its growth. how is listening to the community a bad thing? its not just a cash grab for the ADD crowd. it shows promise, growth and longevity.

As an Elder Scrolls Online fan, I always look forward to the new updates every month and a half or so. I have to agree that Zenimax has certainly listened to their fans in regard to fixing the problems with the game, and working toward improving the existing content. I have read many different opinions regarding ESO on this forum site, and Reddit since the early days of Beta. One of the biggest complaints I have read, other than game bugs, has been combat animation being bad. I never gave it much consideration until I watched the combat video of Black Desert.. Now I certainly do not expect to see this type of animation in Elder Scrolls Online, as it would not fit the game style, but watching that dual axe barbarian picking up and throwing around his enemies, slamming down his weapons in rage, that is what a barbarian should look like in a battle. Not all of the animations were my cup of tea, but the video made me want to go out and fight with every class I saw in that game. I hope that Zenimax is on the right track in regards to really ramping up combat animations to be that exciting. For anyone interested in the video, I am posting the link.

Dude.... this is an awesome update!
After this I only still need to wait for Justice system. Then I'm definitely back in!

This should be good.
Stam builds out dps magic builds.
Arrow is the best dps weapon, dual daggers is decent but range tends to be better for dps.

if its not your thing... please, don't play it.
So patch 6 is a $15 cash grab?
