[Column] World of Warcraft: Grouping Up

Much has occurred since my inaugural column on World of Warcraft. I’ve managed to climb to the giddy heights of level 100, tearing through the Spires of Arak and rolling hills of Nagrand on my way. I’ve improved my garrison, expanding it to the maximum size possible and recruiting new followers. And I’ve been diving into group content, from dungeons through to heroics and even the Molten Core Raid.

In mists the proving grounds were quite challenging and I feel, at least from a tank perspective, that they got you ready for LFR. Skipping forward to Warlords of Draenor the proving grounds are way easier than they were all around. In mists I got gold in my main spec with tank  but gold DPS was not meant to be. In WoD I one-shotted bronze to gold on DPS and tank and then moved to do the DPS gold in prot pally spec. I don't particularly get why this wall is a big deal as it really allows heroics to just go smoother.

As a side note I started at the start of Mists so surely it would be easy for a veteran

class balance is messed up atm. Protection warrior (tank spect) is used for dps now, and its even out dps assasin rogue.

i love do heroic dungeons, not much raid type person. sadly u wont get epic gear from HC dungeons and dungeons come pointless after 630 ilvl.

Yep, peel away the levelling experience which is allways top both in wow and you see the same old shit at end game thats been there since Cata, a game that can't be balanced due to a dependancy on power gains - it taints everything. Lazy and crude model to addict.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

I have been through all the raids in the game but can't seem to push past the silver proving grounds on my fury warrior.

the proving grounds now is not that hard, they tell you what to do in them. Also heroics are not hard in this expansion either but man do they all suck. Way to much movement in most of them that took something relaxing and turned it into a chore. I just in fact cancelled and went back to ESO because I always liked wow for raiding being hard and heroics being a challenge but not running around in circles trying to avoid all the aoe spots on the ground. Not to mention how many tanks or dps wipe groups now and the queue times continue to get longer and longer in pugs because of this.

The days of standing in one spot, watching tv, while doing a Heroic dungeon is over. And that is what a majority of people want. " Omg I had to move more than once! " People moan about a game being to easy. Then to hard.

I find it just the right amount of difficulty to keep my interest.

Are you really comparing end game WoD to Cata? WoD has so much more than any of the WOW expansions. Garrisons alone is a game in itself.  I don't speak troll, so I may have misunderstood your post. It really didn't make much sense.

I don't really like to raid raid, but I did try Molten Core with some guildies and the rest PUG. Took about 10 minutes to remember why I don't like to raid. I'd rather try and find the Poundfist mount if the servers would actually stay up for 2 days without a restart.

Overall I am loving this expansion, hasn't felt like a "grind" yet.
