I left because I didn't want to have to take my main through the other factions, I wanted to do those with alts.
Has the game been changed to allow progression without having to do the other factions with the same character?
Thanks!

I think you miss the point.....
You still need to venture all over the world if you want to gather those skillpoints..
if you can live withouth half of the skillpoints you dont have to visit those lands...
actually with the new champion system you can gather champion points withouth going there, but that will be februar 2015
but again, chamion system will not replace skillpoints but be added on top of it
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
So there really is still no way to progress past 50 without having to experience the content of the other 2 factions on 1 character. Bummer, that just totally kills the immersion/rp factor for me. Oh well...I stopping playing for that reason, guess no real reason to come back. Although I enjoyed the questing and some pvp, I see once you reach 50 your done if you don't want to do the other 2 factions with the same character.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
You do realize that with "role play" you can make up back stories and supporting reasons why you are doing what you are doing.
If you don't know how I recommend taking some improv classes. You'll be set.

The OP makes a valid point. This system is what is keeping ESO from being the best MMO on the market, every game has some "curse" that impedes it's perfection and the Veteran game is what does it for ESO. Also the fact that each faction is basically it's own "server" or "realm" it's just kind of lame. It takes many options off of the table and doesn't really bring anything fun to the table. Just more zones to grind quests in.
Hoping the future updates address this.
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
There Is Always Hope!
right now progression is limited but there is still options i personally got to vet rank 6 on my templar from doing mostly pvp and occasional craiglorn grind. I went into the second zone vet 1-5 etc and got the skill points and some of the achievements but didnt finish any quests. I have 3 max crafting professions on my templar resto staff and two handed maxed with over 30 skillpoints just sitting around for no current use so not sure why people are bringing up skill points there are plenty.
If you do not want to roam vet faction lands you have really two options - one grind craiglorn in raid groups which will net you about 1 vet rank per 2 to 3 hours , or two do lots of pvp though it will be much slower. From the info so far released about the champion system it sounds like you will be able to pretty much do what you want at end game and earn the points at a decent rate. I do not care for grinding entire factions 3 times in a row so I just pvp run dungeons and do craiglorn. Also when the champion system goes live your total points will be for all characters across your account so no more need to grind end game stuff.
