Ok I have this game pre-ordered and I'm going to play it and hopefully enjoy it. But I have to agree with people that say it's not a full MMO because it lacks a huge world to explore.
15 is way too much! being that the game has similar instancing to Guild Wars yet the technology they used requres of them to charge 15.
It was a bad decision to do without some larger area to explore and have server based instances, yet I do not see how they could have easily made the game to work with an open world and have the same gameplay.
I see the reasons for the 15 yet I'll probably quit after the first month and wait a few months till there is enaugh new content to warrant the 15 bucks.
I would like the game to have the regular 14.99 a month fee in hopes of having lots of quality updates. I would gladely pay more if it insured an even better service. turbine developers have been very verbal on there intent to add regular content updates and even already has plans for their first live update. see one of my recent posts for links to the developers for proof (of their intent) and again as I've stated many times I'm confident that with Wizards of the Coast behind them on this project there will be no lack of content to draw from.
instanced or not instanced makes no difference to me i wont cry either way. the game is fun in its present form even after nearly 3 months of play.
As much as I like the Eberron setting there is no way in hell I'd pay $15 for DDO, especailly since it's setup like Guild Wars due to the instancing. They should be ashamed for trying to charge this. No way it's worth it.
Very boring. But then again, $15 for a months worth of play, then cancel is pretty cheap. You would be ready to find another game by the end of the month. Boring after awhile.

$15 + $50 to buy the game though and your at $65 for one month
I agree it should be $5 and I'm seeing that expressed around a lot. It simply doesn't have enough meat to it or freeform interactivity to be worth $15.
DDO has instanced content, so does GW. The amount of content is yet to be seen, but I highly doubt it will be significantly more than GW , at least for the first months (also remember the GW expansion is coming soon).
From what I'we heard, DDO has good gameplay and nice graphics, so does GW (IMO it will be mighty hard to beat GW's graphics, and the level of customization in character templates, but who knows)
BUT: It doesn't have PVP.... which, IMO, severely cuts into the replay value. GW has proven that you can have fun, skill based pvp, avoiding ganking and other problems. I know PvP is not in the "spirit" of PnP gaming, but then again no one forces you to PvP in GW, and it's an extra feature it has... "more bang for your buck" so to say, when compared to DDO.
So bottom line is, GW offers pretty much the same things in the party-based-dungeon-crawling-quest-solving department, while also having a very solid and rewarding PvP experience. And it's free. Why then would I choose to spend 15 bucks a month for DDO ? A 5 $ fee would be more than reasonable.
