How the Hell did a game that doesn't even offer proper grouping for its raids win "Best Online Experience?"

Looking kind of sad when not a single MMORPG is even so much as nominated for best online experience when that is what the games are supposed to be all about.

That's what happens when the console crowd out numbers the PC crowd.

Funny you mention that, I was playing today, I just couldn't get into any keyboard and mouse games sitting at my desk using the 24 inch asus, I kept going back to my console on the flat screen.

Very marketing oriented. Its visible how the winning games were the ones that shelled most money for marketing.

How does Super Smash Bros get two nominations for different platforms?

And they got the Street Fighter IV title wrong.  It's "Ultra" not "Ultimate".

I found it funny that Hearthstone would even be nominated in game of the year.  Are virtual card games really that popular?

Isn't that always the case with these award shows? There are precisely two ways you get to win: you're backed by a strong publisher or you're an indie darling/you raised enough controversy to make the list on notoriety alone. It's why already disappearing medium-size studios and their games always get shafted, because they're caught in the middle by default. I'm kinda amazed Divinity: Original Sin even got nominated when it was obvious to everyone that Dragon Age: Inquisition would take that award.

I think people that are complaining about the results are part of the minority. In the end, does it really matter who got first place? If you enjoy the games that were not even nominated, does it mean that your game is inferior and you should stop playing it? I think, the results are somewhat accurate to what I've picked up by playing these games.

The award for best online experience going to Destiny, i'll admit is a spit in the face to mmo's. Allow me to speak logically for a few lines. Destiny is one of the biggest released games of this year and I've never had any issues playing online. The biggest thing, I had more fun playing Destiny in the 2 months that I played then in a year playing any given mmo. We complain that the mmo genre is dying and in need of a revival in the industry. Soooo, i'm not surprised. Also note that Destiny could potentially not win that same award next year. Hopefully an mmo can take that spot next year.

    Anyways...

Some people are just a little to sensitive about scores, ratings, and awards. It's all based on opinions.

Why not play your PC games on your flat screen?

Certainly some strange choices in my opinion: Almost seems "bought"

The awards never really come into my buying experiences anyway, but I'm unhappy I missed the awards and haven't had a chance watch yet.

This. It is fun to have your opinion validated, but really... your own opinion should be all that matters.

All these rewards should get is a huge ROFL.  About the only good game on there is Dragon Age and I am not sure it is the best game out there.

I don't know why they even bother.

Are virtual card games popular? I infer from this question that since you don't play them you assume no one else does. I get it. I feel that way about car racing games. Do people really want to drive a virtual car, when they can drive a real one? Insane. But yes, TCGs are very popular. Hearthstone is a simple to play game,  with deep(ish) mechanics, and tons of polish. The thing about TCGs is they are simple to learn but hard to master, making them my personal favorite genre, slightly edging out MMOs.

Very strange line ups. What happened to categories like "Simulation" or "Strategy"? Not a single MMO in there? Is that a mostly-console-oriented prize??

Played: Pretty much any fantasy MMO, some did not even make it to release ...
Favorites: UO, EQ2, Vanguard, Wurm Online, Salem, ESO, Creativerse
Playing: ESO, Creativerse, Guild Wars 2
Anticipating: (sigh) ... maybe Ashes of Creation

Best online experience, not a single MMO nor MOBA in that list, i call that biased...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Which MMO or MOBA deserved to be nominated?
