This past week, ArcheAge players had the distinct privilege of being unable to access both North American and European servers for over 24 hours. We still don’t know exactly what happened.

Some might argue a lack of moderation (except for removing pornography or similarly offensive posts) on official forums is a good thing.

The game was coded really poorly too. XL is as much to blame as Trion. There are way too many cheats, hacks, etc.
A further factor that makes this whole mess even more "the dark MMO comedy of the year" is that this stuff is happening during the third official release of this game.
Could Trion/XL have not figured out some of this stuff after they released and ran AA in Asia and Russia?
This sets a new benchmark for incompetence.
That is just it, they hardly ANY moderation. There was a picture of the CEO with large male parts in his face on the site for half a day before a community manager came and removed it. What other company allows a picture like that on their official forums for half a day? I agree over moderation like in Mortal Online is bad but no moderation is just as bad.

To be honest they both seem as bad as each other. Both after the biggest cash grab they can get with the minimal investment.
I blame Crytek a little for this, since they could have probably helped XLGAMES close some loopholes in the game's engine that weren't apparent in fast-paced FPS multiplayer games.

I'm sure they would have worked with them if they'd negotiated a contract for that.
They probably had a support contract and let it lapse, thinking they had figured everything out. Oh well, too late now, cat's out of the bag and everyone knows how easy it is to hack and mod the game.

This game was and will continue to be a total waste. Trion is mismanaging the shit out of the game as it's publisher. They made a lot of people believe that they'd have a lot of control over what actually goes into the shop and how the game was to be ran here in the states. That's simply not true, especially after that whole 'tree' incident. They came out and said they didn't even realize exactly what the trees DID before putting them into the game. I regret every dollar I've given them for this game and I bought in early, they've wasted my money and my time. Trion more or less digitally mugged me through lies, false advertising and just general ineptitude as a company/publisher.
They're a waste of space, between this failed release and Defiance before this... Crap company.
It could be, but the game to me really feels like it's cut as many corners as possible to keep costs minimal. Whatever contract exists between Trion and XL Games seems pretty worthless, given what's happened so far (e.g. Trion advertising and selling a 10% discount before XL Games agreed to it).
This. After going through what they have done to Defiance, was enough red flags for me to avoid this game like the plague (or any other game) and don't give them a single penny.
Just like Cryptic / Perfect World, TRION is now on my blacklist of Companies.
Once the announcement came out that both NA and EU now share the same labor pool (so you can't exploit labor pots by swapping to EU servers), I figured unexpected issues resulting from it were the cause of the downtime.
That Trion has been pretty quiet about the whole thing seems odd, but perhaps they were able to close some loopholes by not announcing it in advance.
This game has been one giant cash grab that left most people touching it (or falling into it's trap, if you want to look at it that way) with a very bad taste, as well as money lost.
To me, ArcheAge acts as a reminder why I should never again play Asian garbage MMO's, never again touch a Trion product, and never again to pay a penny for beta or currency in betas, or just never touch F2P garbage ever again.
Thanks for the costly reminder Trion. Unfortunately for every other, more honest, company out there, issues like ArcheAge only act to drive player and developer further apart, as that trust barrier just keeps getting hammered.
At least Trion and ArcheAge deserves some awards by default this year: Worst MMO launch in 2014, Biggest cash grab and scam in 2014, and not the least of all, Company to lose most reputation value in 2014. Congratulations.
All my friends kept on tellin me how amazing this looked, how great it would be, yada yada yada. The trailer almost sold me as well. I'm pretty easy to impress with a good trailer.
Playing the game though...yikes. Was introduced to boring, yet easy quests at least. No back-tracking almost. IT was quick for awhile to.
But then I got bored. For me, I know am not the average MMORPGER, but I like a good story, atmosphere, and great designed characters(NPCs), to make the world come alive, to make me want to explore the world.
Archeage has none of that. It's also a solo grind-fest.

It seems this MMO has reached the point where it would have been better for players to spend Christmas learning Korean and playing on the original servers.
I still intend to give AA a go, but the 1 year+ past launch date is now looking likely.
