Stronghold Kingdoms: New 'Europe" World Launched to Meet Player Demand

BMunchausenBMunchausen Staff WriterMMORPG.COM Staff Posts: 400

Medieval castle builder/MMO Stronghold Kingdoms this week launched a new Europe map. Accurately based on the modern map of Europe, it provides players the opportunity to build in over 33 different countries.

This expansion is a result of countless requests from players in more than 100 countries, and developer Firefly Studios plans to follow it up with more expansions in 2015. Next year's new features include allowing players to dominate nearby regions and even rule entire continents.

For more information about the new map or about Stronghold Kingdoms, visit Firefly Studios' official website.

Have played in the past, no thanks, it's a total pay-to-win.

Ruling over Europe is always fun, especially medieval-ish Europe, not the semi-vassal-ish-union it is now. But I guess I'd rather stay with Europe Universalis 4, or something that has.. you know, strategy? Quality and replay value.

Sounds like if you spend as much RL money as your neighbours, you can have adequate defences. But if you outspend your neighbour, you can take his lands !

Probably won't be that blatantly obvious, most F2P games are becoming quite good at hiding their true monetization schemes.

For the heck of it, I tried playing free for several months, without paying anything your daily activities are limited so it really did not take too much time.  Over the course of 3 months I was booted from 6 areas even with making friends with anyone I could.   So the concept of free just isn't there.  I tried spending $15 for next month to see if it could be treated as a subscription, got booted a 7th time from an obvious free spender.

A group of free spenders will own any other group pretty much.  Sad thing is, it could be a decent game if they put some limits on how much people can spend.

Lol, perhaps in the not-so-distant-future, we'll be rating F2P games on the monthly cost of being a "competitive player". Game A would require an average $200 per month, Game B $100 per month, Game C $50 per month and so on ?

Those that don't pay can still play, but they'll mostly be peons at the mercy of the whims of the rich and powerful (paying) Nobility...
