Hail fellow Crusaders, and well-met. This week we are going to look at the recent reveals of the UI/HUD for Behaviour's upcoming MMO-shooter, Eternal Crusade. Last week, on the Eternal Crusade Twitch show, Into the Warp, Nicolas Brunoni, the lead designer of the User Interface and Head Up Display, who also handles the development of the entire user experience (UX), along with Peter Rockwell, who is the guy who takes Nicolas' ideas and determines if they are feasible, and if not, determines how to make them work within the game engine.

Red more of Terry O'Brien's Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade - Protoype UI-HUD Revealed.

I've been a 40k fan since 1988, so I always keep an eye on Games Workshop based titles ... but I have to say, this game looks terrible both graphically and game play wise. Space Marine looked better and this looks like a precursor to that game, which is sad. I would have preferred the original MMO stayed in business, but that would have also been bad based on what I was seeing. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

This is the first game of this scope that the studio is making. They are not used to making AA titles and I understand that.

I have hopes for the game and I'll play it for sure before I pass judgement.

Man, you guys do realize this is all pre-alpha footage?  Absolutely none of these graphics are final.  Passing any type of real judgement on them at this point is absolutely stupid.  The general public isnt used to such a transparent policy with a company like this, so if you havent been closely following the game, you dont really know why these images look "bad".  I think they're a pretty good base for pre-alpha graphics.  Do you know what Space Marine looked like in pre-alpha?  I'm sure it looked similar to this.  Give the devs some time and pass real judgement when its near release.  They still have tons of work left to do.  The final game will obviously look way more polished than this.  They've stated numerous times in Twitch streams that pretty much everything right now is place holder assets.

As for the studio itself never having published a AAA title, keep in mind the company itself is a completely new branch of Behavior.  So they have never actually shipped a title at all.  Also, everyone who is currently working on this game has had plenty of experience shipping AAA titles, and they're also helping Chris Roberts with certain aspects of Star Citizen.  They do have the credentials to pull off a good AAA release.

While it's true it is in alpha but the fact they are showing it , they want comments. They dont show this just for fun.

I do hope it's not twitch based. It'll be like WAR all over again.

Looks awesome for alpha, can't wait to bash some heads in. And thank god they are making it more a long the lines of a 3rd person Planetside 2 instead of tab target 1-2-3-4.

I'll play it because Planetside is so broken now it runs like hell. Also Planetside is a clown battle, at least this game will have a more grim tone.
