Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: New Race Announced for Heavensward Expansion

During a weekend fan event, Final Fantasy XIV's producer Naoki Yoshida announced that a new race will be included in the forthcoming Heavensward expansion. Called the Au Ra, little else was revealed other than a screenshot. Also in Heavensward, players will be able to check out a pair of new Astrologian and the Machinist.

Keep your eye on the Final Fantasy XIV site for more information as it becomes available.

    Well it's the only mmorpg were males have leather panties as pants.... but disregarding subligars, the gear covers quite a lot and is not skimpy.

    Ya, I was wondering where the got the sexist thing from this picture, or the game. The game is anything but your typical huge tits, big asses, and revealing clothing you get from the 'normal' Asian MMO.

    wow its been like 5 days or something like that since keynote, where much more then just new rave was announced. How bout healer class , DK tank class, and another DD class machinist was announced but all they got up here so far is new race

    I think the news about the 3 confirmed new classes is more noteworthy: Dark Knight, Astrologian and Machinist. Down with Bard, RISE Machinist!

    I dont understand this article, the race is only minor news to what have been shown in their JP festival, alot on 2.5 expansion areas raids and so much more, and you chose the race news only :s

    A new race and three new class.  At this point I don't think anyone is coming close to putting out the amount of content SE is.

    did Square enix run out of ideas? Remove the horns and just make them some weird colored humanoids from another planet or something. Character design looks fine, but the horns make them look too similar to Castanics from Tera.

    I would be impressed if any MMO managed to introduce a race we haven't seen before.   "Everything has been done before" and all that.

    Indeed it's at the point where any new race that was truly original would likely also be weird and unusual. 

     

    We're talking about a game with catgirls as a playable race.  I don't know why people would expect something bindblowingly original now.

    I always thought the Sylvari were pretty unique. I mean, sure, you could call them Plant Elves if you like. But still!

    You could argue the female is "sexist"..till you look at the male...then you could argue the other way..till you look at the female..

     

    There is nothing "sexist" about them..not even a little bit. Sorry to dissapoint ya :/
