So I've been watching this game for a while now, but I've yet to play it, thus I figured I'd come and ask some questions. Hopefully some of you have had more experience with the game and can clue me in.
First off, this is a foreign developed game. It's been my experience that games developed in foreign markets tend to do really poorly or not live up to the standards of games we have here. Has the translation been done properly so it looks normal to a native english speaker? Or are there lots of mis-translated words, bad grammar, and 'accented' words? Is the game text straightforward and easy to read? Does any help info make sense?
Does the game play intuitively as we're used to games in North America? What I mean is, for example, are the controls and interface all things that North Americans are used to, or does it require learning a new style of gameplay? I have heard that the korean market gamers like to play where they only need to use the mouse, which I find a little awkward, and perhaps some others do as well.
Are the three races just another gimmick? Do the guys in mechs balance well with the magic using elf-like people, and the big alien robots (or whatever they are)? Have they made the game make sense so that it doesn't feel weird say, shooting a missile at someone who's casting a spell on you?
Does the game get 'cooler' and more interesting as you go up in levels, or is it just all more of the same? Is pvp balanced well? Is there anything to do once you reach max level? Do all characters of the same class look alike?
Basically, is this game everything that it's being hyped up to be?

Should answer all of your questions.

Definitely not all it's hyped up to be. The PvP is a real let down, and that's supposed to be the big draw to this game. I'd give it a 5/10 at best as the game is more twitchy then most MMO's which I think is a good thing. The RvRvR thing gets very boring though even after just a couple days, and those singing this games praises right now, will be off to find something else before April.
Playing this game for only a few days is not enough to judge it.
Personally the pvp after level30 is very fun.the wars are insane at times and take a lot of stratergy to win (or just outnumbering ur opponents by a large majority but this aint happening now)
The leveling can be a grind but if played properly you wont have to grind too much. you can get level 30+ in under a week without playing for daft amounts of time. the RvRvR pvp system works very well and the only real problems with the game are the quest system the Kill stealing and the chat system. but these could easily be reworked and fixed.
This game has a lot of potential if codies run it properly. With a few changes and a better quest system this game will be great so long as people take the time to get to level30+.
i suggest to all those that complained or slated this game to do a bit of research play it to level30 and see what the game is all about before you give bad reviews as your information is not accurate at all.
I took the time to level up to 26, and that was enough for me. I understand at level 30 you get to upgrade and advance, but it made very little difference to me at that point, and I'm not interested. Yesterday I partook in the biggest chip war I had seen to that point, and thought it was terrible. I had read some comments from people who said they had a great time, and so I knew at that point the game just really wasn't for me.
Running 10 miles to one portal, only to die and have to do it over again was boring. Listening to the council members argue strategy over world chat was annoying. Having almost no fluid control over my avatar in battle was frustrating. The whole thing IMO was just a zerg fest, and the fact that levels provide such a large advanatage sort of negated any advantage militarty strategy would have provided. The "reward" of being able to mine afk for 7 hours was not enough motivation to participate in what I found a very lacking PvP system overall.
RF may be for some, but I suspect that it's not for the majority. Unless it's something you know you think you'll like, I suggest you not pay for it without trying it out first.

This was the first screenshot I saw when I went to the RF website...I knew this game was a joke about 3 seconds after seeing it.
Codemasters (the US distributor) needs to hire better translators as well. Far too many basic english mistakes on their US page. Can't imagine how bad the ingame translations will be.
rf online is probably the worst let down regarding its hype in 2006 lol.
Hype? mmorpg.com is the only place I even see much of anything about this game. Sure it is hyped on this site but go most anywhere else and you will see little to no hype. I beleive this would be from CCR interests with mmorpg.com for why this site has so much hype, only makes sense.
Other then that this game is pretty much living up to the expectations I had from my previous research. Anyone who says it doesn't clearly didn't do any research before hand.
This game should provide a few months of enjoyment, I'm not going in expecting to play for 1 1/2 years though. But it does have many things going for it as well as some downers. In the end I have yet to see a single MMO without at least a few downers. So you really can't go in expecting a perfect game anyways, especially in beta where some of the current issues will be and some already have been addressed before retail.
In the end I rate this slightly above par on the current market of MMO's. It surely is not the best out there, but it is quite far from the worst.
