Will probably re-sub when all the changes are instituted in full. Not before. And I don't mean the introduction to the changes, I mean the fully fleshed out system with the entire champion system in place, the entire justice system in place, including PvP, etc. Not going to re-sub for half-measures.
It is not staves and skirts anymore bro that is what alot of us are trying to tell you. I play a Dragon Knight 2hand sword/full stamina build dps. Basically I run around like Conan yellling Crom, and bash crap in the head. Bow/stam builds are sick right now as well as Nightblade Duel wielders. Do not bash something friend if you do not have acurate Info on what it actually is.
I'm a 2H/Bow Sorc. Use to be 1H and may go back to that.
They've fixed a lot of the issues, but right now you can still max defense while wearing Light Armor and the best DPS with the smallest amount of effort is the Destro Staff. Then add in the Resto Staff and basically you're a Light Armor Tank/DPS/Healer with an "infinite" mana resource pull. At the moment that is still 40+% (random number based on cyrodiil experience) of the end game population, but the Champion system SHOULD remove this issue and make more builds as well as miss-matching armor pieces HIGHLY viable. Hopefully it reduces "staff and skirts" to 20% at least.
Still although it's a FOTM build that's been FOTM since Craglorn hit, there are still TONS of player variety.
Let's make the main server a ghost town when this hits and all test the hell out of this update next month!

These changes sounds really exciting along with the justice system. I always felt that ESO was a quality product and I'm so glad the devs seem to be implementing so much stuff. I just got a bit bored with the endless questing after a bit and I was not thrilled about the whole veteran rank grind. I think that I may pick up a sub in another six months or so once these changes have been thoroughly tested and implemented.
Are there any plans to have player housing? If this were to be added, I would be back in a flash.
ESO is a great game and I have like the changes . they need to make sure that there is a lot of Quest of us who like to run alone but at times in teams. like solo caves that they could have more of .
Well ESO did better than I thought, it made it to 2015 as a sub game and didnt go Free to play.
Very surprising. Or they just decided to go a little longer than expected as a sub game because they sold enough copies and held enough subs to make it worthwhile.
But theyre certainly spending money (seemingly) trying ot fix it. So basically theyre charging people to continue to beta test the game for them and once they get it right it will go free to play.
I'm really loving what Zen is doing with ESO, the game has come so far since launch, currently Shroud of the Avatar has been getting most of my attention but that is going to change once this patch is rolled out
I cant wait for the updates, I loved the game, but was frustrated with veteran content. When i say LOVED, i loved the content, graphics, and combat. What I didnt like with the combat was the jacked up tank/healer/dps roles. I really hope that is squared away in this patch
@cochs I agree that it has the potential to be very grindy but considering that the reward per point is almost logarithmic makes it extremely unrewarding for long grinds. An the grind can be real long, given that there are 3600 points to spend, which is about 150 days of pure grinding.
I think most people will grind for first 100 or 200 points, but then the reward will be so low that most people will give up.
On top of all that only 24% of a stat can be earned though the CS, which means that the difference between someone with 3600 points spent and a completely new player will be around 24%. This is fairly large but the new player only has to grind a couple of weeks/days to catch up, since the first points are extremely valuable. So in the end skill matters far more than the amount of CSP spent.
Originally posted by Dalmar ESO and FFXIV are the best paid MMO's out right now, it's a shame WoW hasn't tapered off to allow new games like these to flourish even more. Hell WoW is the reason 90% of people who played DAoC moved on. When is that next company and game going to come and do the same to WoW? I hope its soon.
Why should another game have to taper off to let other games flourish?
You basically said nerf WoW instead of other games making themselves better.
And this is how you accept mediocrity as a way of life.
Lets not work at being better, lets do less and punish those who do better.
The Champion System will be rolled out in a couple of phases in order to make sure that it works as expected and makes as effective a replacement for Veteran Ranks as they plan it to be. So update 6 will roll the system out by giving players who already have at least one maxed character 30 Champion points to use in the game’s new constellations.
This isn't correct. VR14 is a maxed character but that isn't what ZOS said what would determined if you received the 30 champion points.
Here is their statement: "Also, when phase 3 of the Champion System goes live with Update 6, all accounts that have at least one Veteran Rank character on them will automatically receive 30 Champion Points. These 30 Champion Points, though applied to your account, are distributed in full to each individual character on your account, just as Champion Points you earn are. So, if you have 5 characters, at least one of which is Veteran Rank 1 or higher, all five of those characters will have 30 CP to spend."
I'm pretty sure ESO added more content in their first 8 months, than WoD brought to the table after 2 years.
I have dozen of friends from WoW that are just disgusted by the amount of content brought by WoD, add on top of that 60 and you just know its a cashgrab. They literally ran out of content in 1 month or less.
So I'm pretty much looking forward to ESO, 2015 is going to be even bigger than 2014 (if that is even possible):
- Champion System - Justice System - New Zones - Thieves Guild - Dark Brotherhood Guild - Spellcrafting - Many new Trials - Many new mini - Trials aka Arenas - Many new Dungeons - Console Release - and much much more
I've put 800 hours into ESO and I haven't even touched Cyrodiil, Craglorn. Haven't even tried Trials, Dragonstar Arena or Veteran Dungeons. There is just too much to do!!!
After playing WoW for 7+ years I'm finally happy finding a game with the best costumer service I've ever witnessed and with the quality of content so superior to other MMOs on the market that you can just feel the difference it makes.
The biggest problem that NONE of these devs is solving is replayable gaming.Every single dev is pointing to WOW's type END game philosophy, which imo is a very weak reason to keep on login to a game.
Developers COULD and should be adding depth to the game and characters that has them go back to the beginning and replaying content, that way it also keeps the entire game looking busy in every zone. However you need to have the foresight BEFORE you release your game, you can't just randomly add in end game stuff to keep players coming back it gets boring real fast and worst of all has everyone in the end game zones so the entire game looks barren.
Dungeons and instance grinding is NOT rpg gaming,it is just weak random content to keep players coming back chasing END GAME stats or gear. However if you have that repeatable content also at the start of th egame and have players going back for various reasons, then it helps the entire game.Part of the obvious solution is a multi class system ,NOT a multi weapon system, however even that weak system can be utilized if you have weapon accuracy which needs to be leveled up and skills that need to be leveled up that can only be achieved on other classes.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
@Wizardry The "wear anything you want" philosophy of ESO is one of ist key features to me. I.e. I don't get how you want to make weapons only progressale by playing a certain class, since every class can wear any weapon or armor? Or did I completely misunderstand?

So what were you doing for 800 hours? I dont believe anything you wrote.
Running the three factions through is designed to be about 300 hours (e.g. completing all of the quests on one character.) Based on my experience that seems about right. Running a few characters through the PvE content can easily take that many hours if you feel so moved.

VR1 isn't a maxed character, not by a long shot.
