Not sure you can gauge much from that, maybe listen more to those still playing?
With the problems AA has had, I dont blame them. Even if I loved this game I would have quit over the problems they have had. Some are just crazy lol. But like posted above, the great part of F2P games its easy to look back in a few months to see if its fixed and at no risk. Personally I quit after 10 min of playing.
Well, that and what has been patched? If we are talking games like ESO, SWTOR, and I'd even go so far as to include Wildstar in too, where the developers are making constant improvements and correcting bugs and issues and are making real efforts to turn their games around, then yeah, Kyleran's point stands, but if there are no patches to speak of, no improvements and nothing really changed, then what does a month mean?
I normally find with MMOs the 4-6 month mark is a good time to return, you are right, something as big an an MMO fixed in a month lol

Well, on todays patch they put a 5sec cd when trying to place down a propriety. No longer "auto spam click" to grab land.
Was a nice improvement, not enouph but still
But yeah, in AA 1 month dont change much. Maybe 6 months to 1 year IF ever improve in some issues.
Here OP was collecting info to help him decide to go back or not, perfect normal but its not about this the thread is about, at least in my perception, i might be wrong.
Touche
Nahh, I'm sure there is more to what you are saying as well. If you are saying you suspect a different motive fpr the OP's post, I can't say you'd be wrong.
Originally posted by Kilrain I'm not sure why I'm even responding to this, but I've been having a blast. I've barely spent any money on this game and I log in every day.
Originally posted by gnarlylex I check in every week or so to see how things in Archeage have been going and unsurprisingly its still TRION hate threads from top to bottom. When I was making the decision to quit, it was hard because I could see the game had potential, but it seems clear that TRION has no intention of seeing that potential realized. Honestly they don't deserve your money. Just pack up and move on, and then you too can come back in a month and see that the same exact shit happening and feel good about your decision.
Glad I could be of assistance. Left a month ago too and feel so good about my decision. I've honestly never even considered going back since I uninstalled.
Beauty of F2P - you can leave and come back as many times as your heart desires - for zero cost.
That's the downfall of F2P. No particular attachment to the game. A lot of the F2P'ers don't give a shit about the game that's why there's so many hacks and expoits... They get banned? They create another F2P account and carry on...
Lets have more zero cost though, then this game will die and can be buried and forgotten as it deserves.
I really loved Archeage. It had everything I liked in a game and seemed to be really well made. Until I started noticing that Trion has absolutely no control over the game updates. They can't do hardly anything, and that creates so many issues. Once I saw the hacks, the obnoxious spammers, the people just downright abusing every possible glitch or exploit that they can I had to give up. What's the point? I would go back in a heartbeat if I knew they fixed a majority of the problems, but XL is just horrid.
ArcheAge has a pay to win, hacker/bot-run economy and pays no mind to the honest players beyond banning them when they speak too loud in the official forums. Me and 5-6 friends quit when Auroria opened too. Never looked back.
WoW looking good again these days, made me miss paying a subscription for a proper quality game and service.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

Things that Trion has control over:
1. Hosting
2. Customer service
3. Payment processing
4. Translations (XL still has to write the patches with translations)
Everything else (including cash shop pricing) is XL, every patch is XL - all patches that touch client/server code are 100% XLs responsibility - this includes the cash shop
Trion can make suggestions on what the western playerbase wants based on feedback, XL has 100% final say in what they are willing to code and patch. They can simply say no to every request
All the security holes in the code and exploits - that's 100% XL - but it's so much easier to point the finger at Trion heh
That part is wrong.
Especially the cash shop pricing is Trion domain.
Proof : Remember how they can turn on/off APEX at will in just 15 min or take or put items in cash shop ?
The cash shop is Trions 100% responsibility. and Trion is to fully blame for even that it exiists.
XL games developed the game as subscription based.
Yup, I said it before, with games like thsis both sides have plausible denaibility. One side gets blamed for soemthing white knights come in and say its not their fault its the other guys fault. Or vice versa. End of the day the game is run by a bunch of idiots and is hopelesly broken from a coding stand point and a management standpoint.
Game is good, probably better than average, if it were on the square it would be one worth playing. But thats the irony if it were on the sqaure it would lose most of its player base I imagine. Because all the guys I knew who played legit quit 5 or 6 weeks ago. My friends list and guild lists have had maybe 2 people log into them out of almost 200.
Luckily there is a remake already in progress and we can all just hope that that one isnt run by a bunch of Micky Mouse entities like this one is. But not too likely. I dont mind having a little price gouging here and there as long as the game is on the level and guys cant just go out and cheat their way to everything in the game.
I actually did go read up on BDO. I didn't really seen anything on the feature list that was compelling. What's the hook? The shiny new thing about this game?

Weather that effects the game, which hopefully morphs into something a log time coming in games..seasons that change in the game that effect growing plants and raising certain animals. Also related to that is breeding of mounts. How in depth that is remains to be sen but if its done even half 'right' it could be interesting.
But yeah its basically a better done archeage. Has trade pack runs, mounted combat (which i am sure is more than 4 skills)
Archeage the game itself isnt horrible but the coding and managament of it is a frigging joke so if BD can do better than Trion/XL then it will simply be a better game experience
I too must confirm my every decision with an anonymous group of individuals whom have nothing or very little in common with me, it's the most rational validation process.
......I'm going to explain here that what I did was just sarcasm, because I fear it may be misconstrued by some to be sincerity.
I believe depending upon groups for sound reasoning is pure fallacy.

The game is actually very good but not being able to play as a subscriber without spending more money each week is taking things too far. I really thought that Trion would remove a lot of the Korean grind/nickle-dime crap but they did not. This model isnt going to work well in NA and games like STO are proof. The amount of greed and lack of common sense coming out of the game studios these days is staggering.

I've cancelled my sub and I'll be going F2P for a game session every couple of weeks or so. I'll use the money I've made to play the AH, buy materials and then do trade runs until I run out of LP or get bored, whichever comes first.

They have a rationale behind it. They figure by offering APEX people can still play for free and be a subscriber. And they can also use the credits they get from APEX to buy what they need. Or use in game gold to buy those same items without going through buying APEX.
But its a typical welfare system, a few super rich guys with too much money buying those credits and APEX and subsidizing the whole player base. Or trion seeding the market or dupers and cheaters and bots doing the same thing.
But youre right having a subscription isnt close to enough in this game. I had two patron accounts (one archeum pack one APEX) and I still didnt have enough labor to run 6 properties. Which despite what people think is barely above what EVERY patron holder should have on one server per single account. Labor is the killer. Not the system itself but the regen rate and the necessity to buy labor pots to play more than a little bit here and there. Yeah I know go do something else. Well on most servers there isnt anything else to do, at least stuff that doesnt require labor.
Many ways to solve it all mentioned a thousand times so no need to go over them here.
But every article ever written anywhere about this game pretty much sums it up. Its almost a blueprint on how to make a playable game completely and utterly fail.
Well the game is on target to have it's player base vanish by 90% by Jan/Feb. As much as White Knights would like to count them, bots are not included in that number.
Often people ask "well if you quit, why are you still here?"
Well the easy answer to that is, I'm doing my due diligence in turning as many people away from this game as I can before they waste their time (and possibly their money). Considered it my good deed which I do on a daily basis and I feel good about it After Feb, there will be no need anymore as the player base will be nearly dried up.
Even most of the white knights over on the AA forums have either been banned or have finally come to their senses. I know because I've been keeping tabs on them and called each and every one of them out after I told them they'd change their ways. Again, feels good to prove them wrong
Despite what White Knights want to believe, people do care what others think. Anyone who does their due diligence before purchasing a game looks up the user reviews because they are all that matter. Get as many different reviews as possible before making a decision. It is what it is.

Most of the F2P lamers have left the game, but surprisingly not the forums. Most of the players now playing are the ones who aren't afraid (or not cheap ass) to pony up the reasonable sub fee and don't waste time on useless threads like this one.
Why even "check in"? Looking for something else to bitch about? Go find your next thing....

Oh, thank God you're here..saving the gaming world from all that is wrong with games. Making sure we don't waste our hard earned coin(or valuable F2P time) on anything you might have explored, because you sir, are the White Knight of all things gaming! Bravo!!

Says the credit card warrior too heavily invested in to this p2w trash game to quit so soon.
