[Column] General: 20 RPGs Coming in 2015

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Another year has come and gone, and with that flurry of levels and experience points goes many of our most-wanted RPGs finally delivered. 2014 was a good year for roleplaying games with the likes of Dragon Age: Inquisition leading the pack but 2015 looks to be downright spectacular. We here at MMORPG have spent a lot of time discussing this year’s games, but with New Year’s Eve fast approaching, let’s look ahead to what next year has in store.

Now shooters with rpg elements are considered as full rpgs?

Somebody tell this Christopher Coke what a rpg is.

Witcher and No Man's Sky are the two that look the most interesting to me!

No mans sky won't be out in 2015 though, even the developers themselves don't know how their going to implement the game mechanics so kind of hard to see how its not at least 2+ years away from completion. The only game i see on that kind of extended list that looks possible for 2015, not to mention even on the PC anyway, that is worth looking into, is The Division.

I love RPGs. Pretty much it's all I play as long as they on are PC. No consoles here, never will be. But whatever the reason when it comes to the Witcher series I can't get into it.
I think the world is interesting and characters but the combat always kills It.
But somehow I feel 3 will be different.

Square Enix came close to suffering big losses and done a complete turnaround on how they do business.IMO they are aiming at a NEW audience and giving up on their old school fan base.It is possible to still capture old school IF the new models are decent enough but i somehow doubt it but i could be wrong.I do know that everything i have seen pushed out with the new engine looked rushed and shallow so i have little confidence for their DEPTH in design.

I just hope Persona 5 makes it to PC....would be AWESOME!!!!!

SE is screwing up daily with the FF series....STOP THE ACTION COMBAT!  if you want to make an action game, make one...if you want to make a FINAL FANTASY game, please do that...don't think you can do both at once...

Would love to see a new Parasite Eve that resembles the first one that was made.

As for the rest...man nothing in that list interests me! Where have classical RPGs such as BG, NWN etc gone to? Ok they are still here, but you can only play the same game finite number of times. What's this about these...pillars of eternity?

Pillars of Eternity is Obsidian's call back to BG..NWN...

Would not go near Life is Feudal, devs sensor both the forums and reviews to make sure the reviews stay mostly positive (they have literally flagged reviews so they don't appear on the game's main page, even when the reviews were 100% honest and had way more up-votes than any of the favorable reviews).

Have even the slightest criticism or suggestion for this early access game that you paid for, and dare to post it on the game's forums? Prepare to be permanently banned from ever posting on that game's forums (on Steam). These indie developers don't deserve people's money with the way they treat their community.

wow based on this list, 2015 is going to be boring as hell

IMPORTANT:  Please keep all replies to my posts about GAMING.  Please no negative or backhanded comments directed at me personally.  If you are going to post a reply that includes how you feel about me, please don't bother replying & just ignore my post instead.  I'm on this forum to talk about GAMING.  Thank you.

wow! REALLLY!   still H1Z1  the only one that has me excited.. Console games?  pffft  never even care about them.  Looks like we have a lot to look forward to (YAWNS-yeah right) in 2015.

It's a shame that game devs can't eve get it right, and pay attention to what gamers actually respond to

If we're doing RPGs, number 1 should be Legend of Zelda Wii U...but maybe I'm biased :)

What about Torment: Tides of Numenera? How could you have a list and miss that one? Made by the developers from Planescape Torment in Monte Cooke's new world, Numenera. I personally cannot wait for it. It is supposed to release in Q4 2015.

Pretty Sure RPG stands for Role playing game. Where you take the Role of a character created or set and you adventure into the world and do quests or complete directed story missions. SO TECHNICALLY CALL OF DUTY SINGLE PLAYER MODE CAN BE DEFINED AS AN RPG. Level ups and items and quests are just the bonus.  Borderlands was considered an action RPG/loot grinder.
