I must have voted for ESO at least 20 times or more as I made many accounts. I know a few guys in my guild did the same thing...........It was smart and a great way to get the win fair and square.
Is this trolling? God, I hope so.
Edit: In view of the post quoted, I would ask that MMORPG.com review ALL votes cast (for both TSW and ESO) and then publicly certify the results.
I saw it when I logged on. It was talked about in chat channels as well. I must have voted for ESO at least 20 times or more as I made many accounts. I know a few guys in my guild did the same thing. Who cares what happened or how it happened. ESO won, they let their players know when they logged on so they could vote and they won. It was smart and a great way to get the win fair and square.
This is hilarious. I imagine you don't see the irony in your comments, especially given all the crap the TSW community was accused of.
Edit: Great strategy; accuse everyone else of cheating, then use it as an excuse to cheat. Classy.
Take that, "Angry Joe." Blow your hot butt air about something else.
Ok, that was childish, but I really wouldn't mind rubbing his nose in it.
ESO today is in much better shape than it was at lauch, ho, ho. And by February or so, it'll be an almost entirely different game.
I've had to go play Skyrim again to train myself NOT to loot every container I see. Justice system and all that.
But I keep getting arrested for assault on friendly idiots who get in the way of my sword. I'm really clumsy at Skyrim (but it's still fun.)
Yes because a random award decided by putting random MMOs/MMORPGs/FPSMMOs/AMMORPGs (Action MMORPGs, aka Marvel Heroes) against one another, totally invalidates all past and future reviews. *Cough*

Well, you are right.
Just because thousands unpaid customers voted for ESO to be the best mmorpg in a known website that doesnt invalidate the "review" of a person who calls himself "AngryJoe" and made a ranting review after not being able to hit level15 in such mmorpg.
Its obvious it does not, because the review of someone who didnt even took few hours to play and told people you could not craft from the beggining (such trust coming from AngryJoe) is much more useful and objective.

I legit, don't believe you. I'm not a huge fan of AngryJoe, or anything, but from the reviews I've watched of his, he always makes sure to play the game in most of its entirety, otherwise he specifically says he will, "get back" to that game.

Trolling? Quite likely... but even so, do you actually think that, considering this is the internet and we're talking about MMOs where people get banned for cheating and botting, that some didn't do exactly that to mess with the results?
With all the hate ESO gets here, I'd be very surprised if many of the votes you think are actually for TSW aren't a few random people voting against ESO 20 times.
And "publicly certify"? Yeah, that will fix it Al Gore.

Which makes it doubly funny that ESO fans were making such a big deal about it when voting started.

Lol, I am 90% sure that this is trolling, but good job of putting the ESO community in bad light again.

Well there is still the finals to go through. I think the ESO community's reputation was hurt by those who accused TSW of foul play with no proof other than assumption, by those who encouraged foul play on the ESO official forums, and those here on these forums who still obviously condone people to encourage multiple voting on the ESO official forums and then post to say basically that, "everyone does it".
Are people really asking that mmochamp IP check and certify that every vote is legit? Seriously, anyone really thinks this voting matters anything at all or represents anything?
This is glorious.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.
ESO is good. How many different was can it be said and proved. Look at your mmo, then look at ESO, then back to your mmo then ESO. Don't let your pride keep you from the new number one.
I watched a Asuran WoW video the other day and I was like seriously?

Angry Joe based his opinion on about one hour of gameplay, in BETA. As I said above, I've only played an hour of SWTOR and STO, and can't give an opinion on them on that limited basis. I also tried the Wildstar beta, btw, but found it just wasn't what I wanted (though it looked good enough to try it out.) I just don't like being called a "cupcake".
Sometimes I visit the modern version of Tradewars. In the BBS days, when TW still used Star trek terminology and references, i was the only BBS sysop in town with a registered version (access to the space station, special ships, and the evil-aligned Underground, as well as some other bells and whistles that came with the space station, like gambling and stuff.) I'll create a game, play for an hour or two, get bored, and not go back for a year. I preferred it when it was Star Trek themed.
I wish he would "get back" to ESO after 1.6 drops next month, when the Justice System and Champion system get introduced. Or, better yet, "get back to it" when all those systems are fully implemented, and player housing, too, and then see what he thinks.
But I have a feeling he's not going to "get back to" ESO, because he had a bad experience in Beta testing.
That is so funny & lame at same time but can't expect much from them, they are desperate badly.
They should be disqualified for that, period !
PS: Also there is no way to make last comments show up 1st ? Getting tired to scrol all the way down..
Other games, the fans rallied and voted.
ESO, the company had to post on their launcher for their fans to go support them...lol
If you cant win with just the Elder Scroll IP alone, that pretty much tells you the game is bad.
TSW did the same. If you know anything about statistics also, you'll know to get the most accurate results, you need the largest sample size. This means getting the word out to the most people who play the game.
Both TSW and ESO had people making multiple accounts, it's naive to think otherwise. However, ESO and TSW are different in a major aspect. TSW has a smaller, older and more core group population. They are very passionate as any core player is about their game. I wasn't surprised at how fervent TSW people were in voting.
The same wasn't said for ESO who when I was playing and asked around, most people didn't care or said they were too busy playing the game. Cyrodiil was another matter and my zone chat was drowned out with rallys and group formations with some massive sieges.
ESO population wasn't really in full force for this poll and I'm really not surprised. The game is still new, fun and continually fixing, adding and planning content. The populous isn't trying everything to push to get more people to join. The developers may be, but not the people playing.
You also have the list of people who are against ESO from the beginning. This group is underestimated and try everything they can to continue to badmouth the game. I played TSW for 5 weeks and once it became a bit stale, I was looking at ESO Beta and wondered why TSW didn't have the same hate.
I immediately knew it was because of the name attached, fear from the other MMO communities, the P2P model, Single Player TES fans who didn't want an MMO and general naysayers who are jaded of MMO's in general.
ESO has so much against it yet continues to thrive and although the playerbase wasn't shown in this poll, it was a nail biter to say the least.
Also, as for AngryJoe, his first review was in fact from the first hour of playthrough and during a portion of Beta which was desperate for an overhaul. The game is far different now and anyone will tell you it's a solid game with patch 1.6 on the way colloquially named ESO version 2.0.
Someone contacted Bill Murphy, Managing Editor of MMORPG.com regarding the post from Majgic8ball saying that he and his guild had created multiple accounts to pad the votes. Here is his response:
Hey there,
The poll system is account based, so there's not much we can do. I've CC'd Evan and Ben to see if there's anything, but I don't believe so.
So while it may seem shady, it is a legitimate way to win. I will say that there were thousands of votes in the poll, and chances are it was going on for both sides of every match up.
it would seem that cheating was expected and is allowed.
this disappoints me and I will not frequent this site any further.
A victory achieved by nefarious means is not a victory worth having. (especially when we were constantly accused of cheating ourselves with no evidence to back this up)

Very disappointed at MMORPG.com here, a simple requirement for email verification prior to voting would go a long way in mitigating mass voting. *sigh*

To think that ESO players made dup accounts more than TSW players only shows you either being naive or a hypocrite.
This was happening from both players and with how close the margin was and the player size of TSW compared to ESO, I would be careful about throwing blame.

The first round of blame came directly from an ESO fan, and accusations of "cheating" (now that we know there was no such possibility) were from ESO fans here and on their forum. "Hypocrite" is a pretty appropriate word to describe your finger pointers, I think right now.

That is unfortunate. I think most, obviously not all, would have liked to have seen an honest competition but I think a lot of us had a gut a feeling this was going to happen anyways. Sure it's a fun poll at its roots and intentions, but when others see it as some form of validation on which game is "better", then the spirit of the poll is just crapped on. Who is specifically to blame? Who knows and who cares since there appears to be no way to prove who did what.
I hope MMORPG.com took from this that there are people who are very passionate about their game and that will go through extremes, and even tarnish their respective game's communities, for the sake of a win. Even if the win doesn't really even do anything for those individuals or their game. Maybe MMORPG.com can institute next time a voting system that keeps things legitimate. If something like that doesn't exist, then I would rather them just not bother with these types of polls or else this is going to happen again and again since people know they can get away with it.

The accusation is completely separate and doesn't mean only one side was duping accounts it just means one guy was accusing TSW of advertising with rewards when they were only advertising it like ESO had done. Are you honestly serious about this?
