I've been writing my own small games for years now, and I've also played EQ, EQII, and several other MMORPGS in my time. I can say that there are several things that set Hero's Journey apart from the rest.
o Character Customization. I'm not talking just about your character's looks. As your character grows, how he/she acts with the various factions, what quests they do, what pets and equipment they keep with them...these all help to define your character. Your pet grows with you (should you have a pet). Your choices in how you act in each quest or encounter help to define your character (do you outright attack those brigands, or do you sneak around? Each choice could have future ramifications. What if you attack the brigands and kill them...maybe a brother will come looking for you
o Quests. Be assured that if you make multiple characters, you will not experience the same quests. Unlike several MMORPG's on the market, in which you can just conveyor-belt through the quests in a location, then move on to the next, HJ's quest system looks very promising to offer a vastly wide array of quests.
o Yes....that Army of GM's. New quests, new towns and common areas, events. An army of GM's making it all happen. Personally, I *HATED* having to buy a $40 expansion every other month so I could keep up with the Jones's in EQ. And special events were very rare indeed. I've not played GemStones or Dreagon Realms myself, but I only hear good things about GM interactions with players.
o The game is being developed by not only one of the oldest companies in the online gaming biz, they've got an army of gm developers that have been gaming for ages. That translates into a wide diversity of ideas, checks and balances and the desire to make the best game possible.
Guess there are lots of reasons. These are a few of the bigger ones, IMHO.

I never expected to get these many replies, but it sertiantly answered all my questions that i had about hero's journey (well at least for now! lol). Anyways i would just like to thank everyone for the help and information that they have given me....
PS. - Too bad you have to be 18 to be a GM im only 15
They are brothers, and only 17 and 14 so no dice for them either even though they have Talent.
Good news we will be around for many more years to come work on that portfolio )))
Like you I have wanted to help with games since I was very young, and now I have been given that chance. So keep it up and like I said work on a kick butt Portfolio
If you desire one thing for so long, it's a given that you'll miss other things along the way. He who attacks must vanquish. He who defends must merely survive.
The guy that did the video above made a new one a couple weeks ago. It is pretty cool, and shows the different landscapes of HJ. It is at the same website www.coldrain-productions.com, under HJ Movies.
