Well

Its a cockpit game where you can be anything or anyone...."In a cockpit" ... ! I backed it, stuck with it and now really struggle to actually play it because its repetitive to the 9th degree!

Now IMHO this game has come out of the stable dead. With SC on the horizon and this game treading water already "Not giving back refund moneys" the writing is on the wall!

I caution anyone planing on committing to this game...do your homework first!

I agree with you, I'm really regretting buying Elite now.  It feels like it is still in alpha, they need to add more content immediately.

I would definitely agree that it feels like an alpha. It feels like standing in the frame of what may potentially, eventually, be a very nice building.

I know nothing of their financial numbers or marketing plans, but it seems unlikely to have been a counter to Star Citizen, since that game is still at least a year away (if it's ever released at all-- the thing is feeling increasingly like development hell vaporware).

I have to say I'm enjoying what's there, though. Seems like a great base on which to build.

before buying this game you should spend more time in researching what is Elite , not crying after purchase if it is not game for you

Man, though the average rating for the game is ok, I am reading more negatives about this game. I was really considering buying it.... Although I look forward to SC, it's not the same idea. (or?).

At this point all you get as an explanation is ...."Its Elite"... ok!

But with all there video interviews they seem to be on the same trajectory as SC with slightly different mechanics. Which is why they had to release now come hell or high water.

But history is repeating itself again.... Elite was one of the first Space sims but failed to evolve and was Eclipsed by Chris's Wing Commander series ....and Elite faded into the abyse of memory!

Now they doing it again ..out first with nothing really special except ..."Big Space" ...but hey they out first ...only to be Eclipsed by Chris Roberts SC again....

Hope David has a rabbit in his hat this time! ... but i don't think so!

After all its a Single player game with Co-Op .... if you can find anyone to Co-Op with oh yes then you would need the content which is non exsssssistint!

NB: They charge $65 for it purely because of the size "of Space"....ITS FULL OF NOTHINGNESS!

It's true that game right now is a shell of a game.  I would even begin to say that's not a game at all, but a space flight simulator.

I'm surprised that one of the few gameplay options they added were to "stare at a blinding sun for a minute to explore it"  After all scanners can't turn directions to face the object they're scanning?  Instead they're at the nose of the ship?  Why do I have to fly to each planet and stare at it?

The other content is just flying around trying to get a fight.

Still, I can see the potential the game has and that down the line it will be a lot more fun.  Right now it's garbage bin.

At the moment it is basically a remake of the original 1984 Elite, which is quite simplistic. But it's what was planned for the initial release.

It will get much better once they start adding in the stuff from the sequels. Plus the other planned content, which they didn't have time to finish in beta.

    Sorry..

Any new content is to be called an  "Expansion" .... and will be purchasable...!

    Its a real empty game!

That's a bit of an exaggeration, there is supposedly some content that will be added on a monthly basis, although FD is being surprisingly tight-lipped on that score.

The paid expansions will add major features (e.g. landing on planets or walking in space stations).
