Shroud of the Avatar is arguably one of the most-anticipated MMOS of 2015, and with developer Portarlarium is hoping to keep it that way by promoting the game at the upcoming CES event in Las Vegas. it is more old school mmo , it is not game for players without patience or players who in default dislike/hate cash shops.
I am not playing too much it is prealpha but game world & gameplay are great. For more money spend in to game cash shop I' ll wait for final product.
Kinda feeling the same right now. I think the game will rock when released, but so far it's pretty boring. The only reason I play right now is for the monthly event to get the goodies...
Do not back this game unless you can put up with how unfinished this game is. Unless you're a die hard Ultima or UO fan, I'd stay away until at least 6+ months from now, if not longer.
To give you an idea of how far they have to go, crafting was introduced almost a year ago but they've delayed item enhancement / enchantment and item repair for 10+ months. Crafting doesn't even have skill checks yet so you're always successful. Same for combat...only half the skills are implemented and that was introduced 6+ months ago. So don't even complain about balancing since they aren't even looking at that if the system isn't even complete yet.
This game has a LONG way to go...this is a 2016 title at the very earliest, if not later. I would not be surprised if SC ships before SotA.
I really want to like this and backed it but find it super boring so far.. Yes, I know it is in development; yadda yadda.....
I agree with other posters.. I think this is a 2016 title.

I can certainly see it finding a niche and its episodic content makes it something I look forward to completing once it is....complete. I don't think alot of people understand what this game is supposed to be, it's like an MMO lite and i'm perfectly fine with that and enjoy some of the map designs and combat so far but the content just isn't there yet and won't be for a while, atm it's basically house decorating sim.
I will say I REALLY Iike some of the recent map designs and they show alot of promise of a good adventure game down the road which is why I backed it at the level to receive all episodes and nothing more. I see acquiring land and property to kinda be the overall goal, just hope it all becomes useful and helps to make the complete experience something memorable and worthwhile in the end. Years to go till this project even comes close to its full vision, but their roadmap is what inspired my confidence in this project.
Anyone interested in learning more about the game I recommend the videos created by the Mad Hermit. You can find them here:

There is also a beginners guide that can be of considerable help as well.
