    The graphics make me think of the Monkey Island series. My guess is this type of theme just feels "pirate-y"

    Hmm, yes I am sure Sid Meier's pirates has the copyrights over that pirates had boats and all that jazz...oh no wait...thats history. Damn them for making it as historicy correct as they could.... image
