(Wow) For is Death Knight? can try that if don't have wow may cost you, and take some time to level to 55 to get a Death Knight.
(Rift) cleric as a druid can summon is free to play as can try with out paying. there are other summoner in the game just that one more melee.
(Aura Kindom) all type of summon pets you can get and be melee there as well free to play

The Beastmaster from Warrior class has a summon. Infact when ya think about it all classes have summon/melee as they c an mix up souls such as rogues can use the pet summon from Ranger and still remain a melee fighter and Mage can take either Necromancer or Elementalist and mix it with Harbinger (my personal favourite combo).
There's also Dragons Prophet which has dragon summons and they battle alongside melee classes. Oh and also EoDemons Online. Also Final Fantasy XI has Dragoon class which summons a baby pet dragon/wyvern and is melee.
Well, it is an older game, but you could play Dekaron. It has a class called "Vicious Summoner." You have two types of that class, one being a staff, and one being a dual sword weilding summoner. You get more pets to summon, all with crazy abilities, and the higher you get, the better you get. You should check out some gameplay on YT, see what you think of it.
In the valley of death I cast a shadow to block out the sun. I am a monster accepting what i?ve become. My faith was drowned in a sea of doubts. Now the thorn littered road its my only way out so I push on. Iron willed. Demonized. Tongue forged in fire. Hate in my eyes. Celestial supremacy replaced with gloom. Inhale aggression and exhale doom
Gw2 Minion Master w/duel Daggers. Can't go wrong there. Also try ranger w/greatsword or sword/offhand if that's more your thing. Both are great fun. You'll be hard pressed to find a better option imho.
You can play a minion master necromancer build, you can summon up to 5 permanent (until they're killed) minions plus up to 8 temporary ones (summon for 30 seconds anytime you kill an enemy if you have a trait activated), and you can use dual daggers as your weapon choice for melee fighting or axe as main for medium range fighting.
Also in the same game, rangers are very good with swords/axe, sword/dagger and greatsword (all melee) and they use a pet and can summon spirits that give AoE boons to allies, and on a more limited scale, elementalists can also play a melee and can summon temporary elementals (one lesser, one regular) that last for 60 seconds and have a cooldown of 45 and 180 seconds upon their deaths, and guardians (that are mostly melee oriented) can also summon temporary spirit weapons (weapons that float and attack on their own), but those options aren't really considered as good as a minion master.
ESO sorcerer, Daedric Summoning. There are couple 2 pet wicked builds. Sword and Board, 2h, Duel wield, heavy armor, light armor you choose. Just about unbeatable 1v1.
EQ2 has 2 "summoner" mage classes, conjurer and necromancer, in the mage category. Conjurer summons different kinds of elementals, necromancer summons different kinds of undead. Both classes are free to play and all classes can melee. Beginning summoners start with the first summon spell for a tank-like pet which produces threat, alleviating damage toward the caster, and later are able to summon other types which don't taunt but dps more.
Soloing summoners prioritize upgrades especially to their summoned spells. Each spell or ability can be upgraded journeyman, adept, master, grandmaster, and having strong pets is most important to them. Additionally, aa points can be spent to make pets more powerful or effective.
project gorgon has quite a lot of summoning stuff happening.
you could try ROSE if you wanna give older games a shot
MU if the the former line is true for you(elf class can summon and buff. note that the summons arent very powerful unbuffed and have to be learnt through items)
eden eternal if you like to not be tied down to specific classes. you can summon with the following classes: ranger, illusionist, hunter and warlock(i do believe another was introduced but i fail to recall it). the summon is a key to effectively using any of these classes.
as a random silly idea, you could also try out the wild hunter class in maplestory(it can capture up to 6 monsters and summon them to use their skills at random intervals... not much interaction but if you like the 2D touch and wanna have some summoning action happening its another option)

What can men do against such reckless hate?
