The latest Age of Conan: Unchained Producer's Letter has been released. The letter begins with a recap of 2014 and moves on to give players a sneak peek ahead at what 2015 has in store. Among other things, Funcom has plans to introduce a new achievement system and will finally push the long-awaited crafting update out the door.
After update 4.5, our next major focus will be pushing the long-awaited Crafting system out the door. We’re hoping to have that in place during early 2015. The itemization of our content releases will rely, to some extent, on the crafting system so it is a major priority to get this finished.

When I first played this game a few years back I really enjoyed it's more unique approach & game content atmosphere overall. It's the first MMO in which I achieved a max level character for that time even on a PvP server. I don't PvP but I still felt proud of finally accomplishing that. I mostly played on the PvE server though.
Once I achieved max level though is when the fun & steady progressing came to a "grinding" halt. I hung-on for awhile afterwards hoping to catch a second wind of fun in the game, but for me it never happened even with the newest expansion. It became either: join a big guild & grind or continue solo or in small groups & grind even more.
I ended-up playing AoC for about a year & a half. During most of that time was this whisper in the wind effect of the crafting update inbound. It never proved itself. I let my year long subscription lapse without renewing since I could project & see how lengthy of time & investment it would take to keep progressing & just played as a free player a little bit here & there.
Sad to hear AoC still hasn't updated their crafting with all these years of discussing it, but for the remaining AoC community I hope it goes well for them. It's long overdue.

Very true, but the rest was one of the worst and most boring i ever played. Also to many promises and never delivered. Do they finally have brawling now and all the other great features they where hyping back in the days?
Nice letter, but I liked the TSW one more... anyways, crafting!
"The World Boss system returns in 2015 with improved mechanics and new bosses." - cool
"The PvP festivals will continue in 2015." - /shrug
"The first thing you will see in the 2015 is the new Achievement System." - cool, I like to achie... hmm. Speed runs? The lowliest activity even among endgamers, and you want to reward speed runs? lol
"create a smoother tutorial and introduction for the game." - the new player exp. is decent, but some more help never could hurt.
"pushing the long-awaited Crafting system out the door. We’re hoping to have that in place during early 2015."
ok, let's put it here again, since we're waiting for it since 3 years: pushing the long-awaited Crafting system out the door. We’re hoping to have that in place during early 2015. Awesome
"I recently spoke about the PvP arena" - /shrug. who cares about pvp when we have new crafting?
What would really push both games would be housing, I guess.
And they even have the same engine so they could put it into both games with a more or less identical system. BAM!
That is my suggesion for 2015, housing in AOC and TSW.
By the way to me Age of Conan somehow feels more like Elder Scrolls than Elder Scrolls Online

Update crafting system? Seems first april fool joke is there. Played from the start. Love the setting. But when most of the players left it is just not fun anymore. Log still in sometimes, cleaning dust in the guildcity. Other guildmembers not online since 600+ days.
Funcom should have increased the level cap when releasing khitai expansion. Leveling feels less grindy.
STILL ONE OF THE BEST GAMES AROUND
Tortage and Funcom hiding the fact that the rest of the game was nowhere near the same quality, is what made this game as 'famous' as it was back in the day.
Today it still suffers from a bad image painted by Funcom's marketing tactics. A shame too because the setting of the game is amazing... Well, the core settings at least. I am not really a fan of the Asian culture expansion they did.
I don't think Funcom can earn me back as a customer unless they literally danced on a fire in front of my house (or something of that scale), but I do hope for the remaining players of AoC that the game gets the development attention it deserves, so that they can continue enjoying it, without Funcom ruining it with more marketing tricks or scams.
Yes it did! First time I played through it, I was in love. Second time, that love started fading. Third time, I was just waiting for it to be over.
There was no fourth time for that very reason. Gimmick starting areas just don't work if there's only one of them.
