Looking for a MMORPG, opinions needed

I'm currently playing Asheron's Call, and frankly, the game is dying. It'll probably be time to move on soon.

Now, I really liked AC in the beginning. The social interactions and trade, the ability to customize your character, the fact that you can either solo or group hunt, etc.

What I liked less was the lack of rule enforcement. Stealing is not against the Code of Conduct, and is rampant (based on scams - not on in-game mechanics). Cheating in general is rampant, with little or no enforcement. And there's a serious lack of roleplaying. What you do almost never has consequences for your character, for town NPC interactions and the like.

Now, what I'm looking for is a game with the following:

- a Code of Conduct that actually gets enforced (grief players get banned)

- customizable characters, and character choices have consequences (e.g. races)

- ability to solo or group

- not an aging playerbase (like in AC1... newbies really have no place there anymore, no one to meet)

Are there any such games around?

AC2 is very good game. The only problem is that there is no content for lvl 54+ players. But it will take you about 3 months to get to that lvl and many new things will be added in that time (housing, new crafting model, new PvP activity, new story arc...). And the best thing: you can get a free 14 days trial and decide afterwards.

Well, I certainly won't be playing AC2. I've lost all faith in the Microsoft/Turbine combo, or anything managed by Microsoft, really. They won't enforce their own CoC, and they killed AC1 by failing to advertise for it. No way am I ever playing a MMORPG managed by MS again.

I'm taking a look at the Endless Ages website now.... only 500 players though :/

They are enforcing CoC quite strictly in AC2. You can get banned (for couple of hours or days if it happens again) for cursing. And some guy got permanent ban for deliberatly spoiling a quest for other players.
