This doesn't look like a lead up to an expansion, this looks like they're normal hyperbole lead up to another season of living story.

Almost definitely an expansion. They don't trademark the names of new living story seasons, nor do they make 1.5 hour long PAX presentations on new living story stuff. It's something big for sure.

Further, here's the description on their PAX page of the presentation which basically comes out and says they're not discussing the living story in that last sentence:

"Join ArenaNet president and co-founder Mike O’Brien and Guild Wars 2 game director Colin Johanson for an exclusive sneak peek at what’s next in Guild Wars 2 and be among the first to hear how we’re setting up a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe. The Living World was just the beginning.".

Also this Reddit comment has some other interesting info about how they hired a Raid Designer and AI Designer and he makes some other good points.

I don't play GW2 any more but it's interesting for sure and I'm curious what this expansion pack would consist of. Big changes would be welcome.

    interesting.

If they would just cram some sort of endgame minor attribute/xp gain in already I'd be so happy...

Around 0:27 that definitely looks like a Mursaat. And plenty of spear/polearm action going on.

So, the Pale Tree was Mordremoth's, and when he awoken he put the Sylvari under his control? But some have 'broken free'?

Regardless, the racial tension between the Sylvari and everyone else should hopefully lead to some amazing story.

    I hope so.

Although alot of people on the GW2 forum are speculatingit might be a box set of LS 2 (or 1 & 2) that they are going to sell in the gem shop.

    Those people are wrong.

My statue of Rytlock Brimstone from the collector edition fell to the ground a few days ago. His sword and some of his spikes broke... I had to glue them back in shock horror.

It's a sign that an expansion will come.

Don't forget the ventari teachings. The pale tree is unique. And its spawns (the players and the nightmare court) does not account for all sylvari across Tyria

I wouldn't expect an expansion in the traditional sense.

"Guild Wars 2: Beyond the Point of No Return

It seems like they are going to update the game somehow besides using the living story method.  It will be interesting to see how this new framework will work.  Anet has always been known to go against the norms and traditions of the genre, which was also  seen in GW1.

Being so confident without any official annoucement bring s nothing but disappointment later on.
