Are Battlegrounds a cross-server thing?

Hi, I want to know when you join Battlegrounds does it mix you with players from other servers.
And if so, then on which server are you going to be? For example, in Battlegrounds there are 20 players from 5 servers, now which new server are they all going to be? They can't all be playing on their own server and play together I mean, right?

i do not pvp in EQ2
I believe EQ2 has supported cross server battlegrounds since May 2011

Note that if you play on a server with localized language you'll be restricted in whom you can battle with. The servers can't support multiple languages.
