Self affirmation, curiosity, whims and I think sometimes people just feel like "hype" isn't overly accurate. Maybe they'd like oppinion to go along with instead of just a random number. For example, if you filled out a hype comment about lets say.... DnL 3 months ago, you may now think differenlty, as someone who likes hearing your oppinion on these subjects, I may have a genuine interest on how you feel about the subject today.
I don't though, just a thought .

As already mentioned, I don't trust the "hype meter list" and just curious.
What's with all the Vanguard votes? Looks like another mindless EQ clone. They don't bring anything new to the table. Looks like a step up from EQ, which puts it just a few steps behind the competition.

Maybe a lot of people like the EQ type gameplay. There are many who emulate it and make successful products. You weren't under the impression that people want to take a chance on innovation were you? What, do you drive a hybrid or something?

=/... Glad theres another PSU fan at least! Go PSU! (Oh and Suta_Safaia if you are talking about the Fall pushback on the American site many think its a mix up since its still listed for Summer on the European site, and VG shops like EB Games and Game Stop still have it listed as a May release. So unless the stores and EU site are both behind the curveball, I would say that the American site either screwed up or made a sort of "safety net" so it wouldnt seem like a push back if it actually released in fall. Afterall, its better seeing the release go from fall to summer then summer to fall, right?)

Please explain how you come to that conclusion? "The Chronicle" - their Fantasy Genre MMO is about to go into public beta. That doesn't sound like Vaporware to me. Need to be a bit more careful about labelling titles as Vaporware. Once a game is in a beta format it's beyond "Vaporware".

Whats truly baffling is your willingness to say something completely untrue about a company and have so little interest in actually researching the truth.
MMOCenter has a completely open door policy, anyone that has interest in the validity of the company or the game only needs ask for a tour. It's one thing to offer up an oppinion about a game, good or bad, but if your going to talk that negatively about a project being worked on by some very talented people, the least you can do is know a little of what your talking about.
Otherwise you just end up looking like an... well, enough said I think.

Talented people a good MMORPG does not make
What I do know:
MMOCenter has links to 7 games on their home. How many of those games do you suppose are actually playable? That's right. 0. Do the games even have sites devoted to them? Only if you believe the "coming soon" dead links.
The company even states their goal is to make MMO's quicker and cheaper (by 90 percent). You don't do that without cutting corners. Sure there are new technologies, techniques, definitely better ways to do things. But I don't care how talented your staff is, you're not going to cut MMO development time and cost by 90 percent, espescially if you spread your resources out across 7 games with no coherant binding theme or mechanic.
Don't be ridiculous. MMOcenter is vaporware, or at least the games won't be worth playing (unless they charge 1/10th what other MMO's do).
I've followed enough games that have disappeared to know vaporware when I see it.

Sad but true...
anyone remember DAWN? ouch, that was harsh for all those hardcore believers. Even when the game site had no updates for months, everyone was still in a frenzy over it. The end product now is a browser, text based game called Race War Kingdoms, lol.

LOL while i hold a different view on this, ill use your example to illustrate.
Even hybrids and hydrogen cars count as evolution (building on what came before it) right now though i don't know why everyone thinks these games are so advanced. I veiw them as having had steam powered engines and open chassis bodys only a few years ago and are only now stepping up to gas power, but i guess thats just me. What Vanguard is doing is taking all the good out of previous games and indeed "innovating" on it. maybe you should check out their FAQ to actually understand what i am saying. They are adding completely new features that i am sure will be imitated by MMORPGs down the road.
They are taking this new gas powered engine of the MMO and taking it into the future. Indeed some of these new games are trying to completely reinvent the MMO, fooling around with "hybrid" or "hydrogen" power. If you consider how successful a hydrogen design car would be at the birth of the automobile, you will see what im trying to convey here. MMOs too have to go through the evolution to reach a truly effective "revolutionary" design. What some of these new games are attempting is to leap ahead and create a futuristic game based on things that have never even been attempted. While it is a valiant effort, it must be realized that ultimately you need to take smaller steps in order to truly improve on these games and not just create some failed experiment. Experiments like many of these games are becoming. That is why i now look to Vanguard as it has some truly innovative features while not completely abandoning the past.
You need patience if you want a game what some of these companies are promising.
Imagine everyone's driving around at 25mph in these whirring little hydrogen cars, and someone comes along promising to reinvent an old fashioned gas guzzling muscle car...
Not to get into a debate about environmentalism, but sometimes evolution goes off in the wrong direction. I think that may be how a lot of people feel about current MMOs, compared to oldschool EQ. Even current clones have evolved away from a lot of what many players enjoyed about EQ.
My vote was for Warhammer first, but will also try Vanguard, and Lord of the Rings Online.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
