Just heard it on the twitch ESO live (will be available to replay in a little while) in an answer to a question near the end.

 

Voice chat, if you want it that way, will work in the "say" channel as well as other chat channels. Similar to the way SOE does it.

 

You can also turn it off for selected channels... (thank god for this bit image)

    Yeah this is pretty awesome. After playing so much planetside 2, I missed this when I came to ESO.

    Wait, "say" chat?  As in only people near you can hear it?  I hope they make that a pc option that would be awesome (though nobody would use it : P ).

    Any word on whether the PC version will also get this functionality? I love using voice chat, but only when it's integrated to the actual game.

    I take it to mean that it will forego the use of a keyboard? I was planning on getting it for the XBOX ONE, and use its headset, was wondering what it would be like! ??

    You can check out Planetside 2 or EQ2 if you want a preview of how it works. It's a very similar system minus "voice morphing."
