If there was one thing you wanted THE MOST from the (POSSIBLE) expansion...

steeler989steeler989 Member UncommonPosts: 665

What would you want?

My answer boils down to one major thing and one minor thing.

MAJOR: I really want new skills. Not just any skills, weapon skills. And I dont want this fixed by them adding more weapons. No, I want more skills for the weapons we have. That way we can keep our main 5, but be able to switch out skills for other ones. There could be categories for each skill, and you could get them a different way than, lets say, just using the weapon a bunch. Tie it into how you would get elite skills in guild wars. This would allow us to change up our builds for that weapon and possibly play styles, depending on how far they would go into the weapon skills.

Minor: CAPES. I. WANT. GUILD. CAPES. Seriously, that was one of my favorite things from the original Guild Wars. Joining a guild and getting that kick-ass guild cape was so cool. People could judge each other by their capes!!! If they introduce capes for the guilds to create, I will be one happy camper.

SO. What do you guys want the most? And, what do you think of the two things I've stated?

Completely agree with your major point, it's something I've had a gripe with being an ex gw1 player.

    Major:

Barring secondary classes a much wider variety of utilities and elites would be great. There used to be low cooldown elites which were a little less powerful but provided wider build varieties.

    Minor:

LET ME SAVE MY BUILDS. I know changing stats and traits are easy but most of the time I just try again with the same skills with one slight utility modification.

    One click - minions build

    Second click - conditions

Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?

Agreed with your point but Adding in new classes is a really really close 2nd for me.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

For character expansion, I agree on new weapon skills. I'd be fine with no new Professions, if each profession received another two weapons, with the appropriate skills, and some new right bar skills as well.

As far as content, I want tons of Dynamic Events, which further the potential of such content and are free of the bugs which have haunted to many of the original DEs. I'd prefer a complete refresh of the existing game zones' DE content, with maybe six new zones, vs. an unchanged main game world with a larger number of new zones. The sin of the last two years has been the way ANet almost completely neglected the massive potential of evolving DE content , which could have provided the illusion of a living world.

I also pray there will be no more "Living Story". They tried it, they stuck with it as they bled active players, and the end result has to be a bust by any standard that measures efficient use of development resources in maintaining a healthy player base. Resources between expansions need to be spent much more wisely, assuming that the expansion succeeds at regaining enough of the lost player base for it to even matter.

It's still the best MMO produced in the last five years, I'm hoping that a successful expansion will help reboot the game and give it a chance to get back on track. That, to me, is more important than my specific wish list for expansion features/content.

I wholeheartedly agree on skills. My characters started to feel stale pretty quickly even though I mixed various weapon combos.

    Major:

    • New sPvP modes (HoH type and GvG among others)
    • New skills (to make classes/builds more unique)
    • Guild Hall (as promised)
    • Saving and loading builds
    • Real drops from bosses
    • Characters not able to join multiple guilds
    • More epic dungeons like the one from living story 2 (two giant bosses)
    Minor:
    • Capes! Thank you. Someone who appreciates them as much as I do. Doesn't look like gw without it.
    • Better guild interface

    Very much these ^

I (hope) that new classes are a given, as are new skills (it is an expansion after all). GW1 had a much robust skill system, and it would be nice to see more of that resemblance in GW2.

That said saving builds is HUGE. GW1 had both a system to allow you to do this, and also a code system where you could copy a build code (similar to an item code) from a website, and BAM you're specced to that build. Maybe they ran out of resources, but I see no reason why they shouldn't have a similar system for GW2. It just makes too much sense not to have. Also having a drop-down menu in the traits tab (both for PvE AND PvP) would also be amazingly useful. A huge pull of this game is in the customization. Not being able to save that customization in some form or another is a weakpoint of this game.

I would also love to see either new weapons, or differing loadouts for existing one (give us a dual pistol mesmer already ffs). It would be nice to have certain weapons (like 1h sword) be able to be swapped between a more power oriented skillset, and a more condition oriented one, or even a more defensive oriented one.

W/E they reveal, I really hope it's a good one. I think it will make or break the game for a lot of people.

The title says one thing,  but you yourself ask for 2 things..

if i had to ask for one thing, it would be even more fun then the orriginal game...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I want Dynamic Events back. They were supposed to be the center of PvE, but now they're just something that spawns more monsters for you to kill. Silverwastes and Dry Top are steps in the right direction, but they're not enough.

The major thing I want is the one thing I'd ask for in the expac. The minor I put in just for fun and it's something others can add if they want.

    By order of importance:

    Skills

Every class able to use most weapons and have skills tied to it

Weapon skills not fixed - but customisable - or perhaps weapon specific skills (like two swords with different skills)

    Skill hunting like in GW1

    Multiclassing

    like in gw1

    New class

Complete revamp of WvW. I was most excited for WvW and it was pimped as the end game for GW2 prior to release. It has been a huge disappointed with very little meaningful changes since release. There is no reason to defend anything and no one cares anyway...and it promotes pvd (player vs. door) over pvp. Blobs of players just run around avoiding each other and taking/retaking keeps to farm karma. About the most meaningless rvr ever.

I would also like a Rift/FFXIV style spec/gear changer like someone mentioned above. It sucks to have to completely re-outfit your toon based on what you are doing. Not to mentioned you can have multiple gear sets for each toon and they all take up valuable bank/pack space.

I don't really like the idea of "New skills"...
Most class have several weapons to chose from, each corresponding to a specific scenario.
I really don't see much point in having new skills (outside of new weapons) since most combat scenarios are already covered by swapping weapons. This would be duplicating effort.
Some classes have no/limited access to skill sets (like "conditions", "heal", "mobility" are more or less present in some classes) to give flavour to classes.
Plus there is always an optimal choice anyway, so why have 1,000,000 skills if everyone will end up using the same 10 skills (and 90% of players will, believe me).

"New skills" shouldn't cost the game its balance and specificities, and I think it wouldn't bring much in the end (only the illusion of choice).

    Capes
    ?100% behind this.

    Anyway, my personal selection:

    Major:
    - Better story/events (in new land of course)

Minor (should ALL be part of a patch really, not Xpac worthy):
    - Higher difficulty in general
    - Rework crappy skills
    - New "hot bar" for equipment, food, "mounts" and other crap stuff with 5 slots or so.
    - 3 to 5 customisable armor sets/weapon sets that we can swap on the go (it could take 20s out of combat, I don't mind)
    - 3 to 5 skill sets that we can swap on the go

Well... To be fair to ArenaNet, if players look to optimize their gains (karma, or gear, which seems to be the case in every MMO game), they will always try to avoid "friction" with the opposition, since this would be a waste of time - suboptimal gains.

The thing is: unless players want to fight and defend for honor, there will always be a better way to make points than to fight enemies (because it is difficult and the outcome is uncertain, because there is a loser al the time).

The main problem I see is that players are only doing most things for gains really - not victory, but gains.

You can't motivate most players with fair competition and fun, they always prefer boredom and shinies.

The thing I want the most is improvements / more enjoyable SPVP and WVW. Deep down im a pvp'er however even thou the physics on pvp combat is amasing.... it gets old very quick.

Also a passive form of pvp within pve would be nice. I believe everquest next has something simular planned where in a pve map there are 2 bonuses / benefits that can be achieved, but not at the same time. So pve objectives need to be accomplished that run counter to the other in an almost red vs blue setting to earn those bonuses.

I would like to see a way to decorate and organize your home instance.

More entertaining and more permanent mini games (polymock).....

At least 3 new skills per job

    1 new job

    1 new race

At least 4 new maps....fully explorable at release.

I agree with OPs points, and it would be nice with a system that allowed you to pick your weapon attacks just like you pick your traits (and maybe you could unlock them by defeating enemies or skill capping like in GW1).

But I also want more open world zones and a few dungeons as well. And a new race would be awesome.

As for new classes it is always a bonus but not that high on my list.

"Back" is the wrong word but they sure could use improvement. We have so far just seen a little of the potential here. :)

Making it harder to win by zerging. Make tactics bigger, support rolls needed more.

random scripted open world events that occur over random maps at random times that are substantially harder than typical world bosses.

    I'd like:

Fresh skills or some sort of rework.  There isn't enough choice in my opinion and i'm tired of the same shit we've had since launch.

I'd love capes too, but i would actually really like for many builds to matter.  That is what i really want.

I'm tired of metas ruling games.  Zerker zerker, zerker, zerker.  So frikkin tired of what happened to this game.
