So what did you think of the announcement? I have to say I was impressed, I am typically very skeptical, I'm not a GW2 fan boi, but some of the changes coming, I definitely welcome, I think they took some different routes that I found to be interesting, especially with crafting and gear grind and leveling and character specilizations (risky with that specialization). I think the addition of guild halls is definitely a must have, and all in all I feel like they put together a very respectful package. I feel like they are setting a new bar. I have to admit leading up to this I wasn't the least bit interested and did not think I would even consider buying an expac, but I just found this presentation to be overall very respectful of the playerbase, I think GW2 may be the bar setter in quality and value. I think it's going to be something worth investing in.
What did you think?

I am kind of in the same boat. I basically lost hope in Guild Wars 2 a long time ago, but this presentation raised my interest again.
Hopefully those group challenges they talked are REALLY better designed than the basic GW2 dungeons.

I'm just disappointed there is no new race to play. The rest sounds good, esp. the gliders.
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
While i wanted more zones the potential of the class specializations and guild halls far outweigh that disappointment.
They only revealed one of the ranger paths so I believe that classes will have at least two paths to choose from. Assuming the minimum is one split that means 18 classes or so.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
It would be great if it released three years after GW2, meaning in late August. But I'm not sure they're going to make it.

I didn't know that patch 6.1 was supposed to introduce more content than WoD.
My best bet is if you didnt like the orriginal game that much, you will not going to like this one either...
personall i love the character progression at max level part, i think thats what currently is missing in the game.
thats why i am happy with no new levels and no gear progression...
i dont think the way the game plays actually will change a lot...
thats why i am looking forward to this game, played 9 straight months at release, thats the longest for any game since the release of WoW. And still playing on and off...

Oddly enough though it's enough to keep certain people that don't play the game in the forums here for those 2+ years.

Bit meh
But the new area being vertical sounds good...at least
Its only a game you're not supposed to live in it lol

It will be interesting to see if this:
The most disappointing news is that there wasn't any mention of dungeons at all. Most expansions release new dungeons. It makes me wonder if GW2 is just going to abandon any future dungeon development.
Not only that, but the new "region" seems like it's going to be really small. Will it be one zone with 3 biome layers? Or will it be several zones with 3 biome layers? If you look on the map, each region contains 4 or 5 zones within each region.
They said that the entire region is going to be divided into 3 biomes and Colin also mentioned that it is the biggest and most complex region they have created so far.
When it comes to dungeons, there is usually 1-2 dungeons with each region therefore I wouldn't be surprised to see more.
I enjoyed GW2 until I realized I was stuck with same few skills forever, about 3 weeks. My first suggestion was to add more slotable weapon abilities. Come on man you gotta be a bit disappointed too. I mean all they're doing is giving each class another weapon, which you will most likely unlock like you did before but slower, then called it a specialization..
The expansion is probably a year or longer away....
they are adding several specialisations for every class, i would say atleast 3, and there is a new mastery system that also influences your combat... All those specialisations offer a whole new set of skills and abillities.... And the mastery system will be very deep and will probably work like an AA system...
sadly it will never become the skillcollecting game, we all know from GW1

The never said "several specializations". They never said utilities came with the specialization either. Only 1 weapon. I watched it too... Maybe they could say what you said in the future, Colin certainly didn't say it on stage though.
They said that each specialization will allow a profession to use a new weapon. There is nothing mentioned regarding how many specializations there would be for every profession, if it is only 1 or multiple, it is not confirmed.
One specialisation would be just illogical... Specialising means that there are several choices to specialise in...
