When it comes to mmorpgs, not really a fan of isometric, top-down, and or point and click systems.
Much prefer 1st/3rd person POV.
Could work, but I feel way less immersed when I'm just moving a little player model around like a chess piece. Doesn't make me feel like I'm playing the game, but micro managing a tiny version of myself.
Shards & Albion Online look interesting, but seeing mass combat is just a cluster of name/guild tags because of the view. No immersion at all for me.
Games like Diablo is a different story as it is mainly single player so all the focus is on one character, but even in groups in D3, it turns into a mess.
Top down or isometric view just does not make it feel like you are IN the world but rather like you are a bird flying above it. I would rather be able to switch between 1st or 3rd person view in an MMO. In fact, I really don't think that if the game has anything other then 1st and/or 3rd person view that it is really an MMO. Given the people involved with this game, can't see them doing the top down at all.
My personal feeling is that I do prefer 3D, but if the game is solid enough and the mechanics work (i.e., robust player driven crafting & meaningful pvp and conquest) then I'd be ok with whatever is best to make that happen. Looking at the early graphics, it could go either way at this point. Until we see more, it's anybody's guess.
Well if looking at what the dev did in the past,i would not like it.Example i am playing POE and i would normally NEVER play a game like that,i don't like fixed cameras especially small view points.
There is two criteria that are a must for me that are not character or mechanic related,it is the camera views and key mapping. Both of which usually have me not even give the game the time of day.
Runescape controls are terrible,it was the sole reason i had to quit playing it.
It really is simple give the gamer options, different camera angles and key mapping, everyone happy. If you look at W101 ,there is neither,no camera no key mapping not even mouse adjustments, nothing, just a very simple cheap UI.Is that what we want for our games in 2015/16,i hope not. This team needs to step it up to be an accepted game for main stream gamer's however he went on record as stating the game is not for everyone,i wonder what that really means?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I see most of you prefer 3rd person, I like 3rd person too, but I really don't mind top down view like in Runescape, that was my first mmo way back, maybe that's why I don't mind it.
I don't know why I got the idea that this could be top down kinda mmo, I think maybe because the art we've seen so far looked a bit like Albion maybe, that stylized look.
But I'm gonna follow this game, regardless if it's one or the other.
Will be interesting to see the reveals in the future.
I'm a gamer and I play games, not virtual vending machines.
While i don't mind top down, i don't want it for any of my MMO's. I just feel like I cant main a game with that type of view. But when it comes to Crowfall, i wouldn't even remain on the hype if it had it.
I would totally enjoy an isometric game, even an MMO with great detail, if it had enough qualities to compensate for the lack of immersion, but I think when a player wants to get totally enthralled in an MMO, they need a first or third person view, it's too hard to add substance to the effort your putting into your game without a closer look at everything.
I don't need great graphics, something as simple as Guild Wars, maybe a little better, would be fine. I've seen the screenshots so far, and I'm not super pleased with the art, it feels like WoW, except slightly better. I think with a game that wants to wade into deeper waters, an atmosphere with a darker tone would be more impactful, with some majestic beauty mixed in so it's not all dreary, and less glowing colors...
Given the popularity of stories like Game of Thrones, a mix of moral ambiguity, treachery and grey would help it feel more deep and meaningful too. I don't want a totally bleak world, but I don't want an overly campy world either, a veneer of grandeur would be nice, with a revelation of reality coming up behind it to bite it in the @ss.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, if they get angry, they'll be a mile away... and barefoot.

Let's party like it is 1863!
First person
Third Person
AND NO NO NO accepty top down
3rd person
I don't like top-down because I can't see far enough. It feels claustrophobic.

I wouldn't give this game a 2nd look if it was isometric view (aka top-down view) only.
Some games have both, as well as first-person view, and it works quite well, so it wouldn't bother me if they had a hybrid system.

Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
depends on game for me. i like all forms really.
Top down isometric has its charms (take a look at upcomming Albion Online).
1st person, I really dislike for an MMORPG, I think it is only suited for FPS games.
So the big winner here is 3rd person for me.

So I hope it has 3D.
