What Sandboxes are currently playable?

I don't want this thread to turn into a debate on the meaning of sandbox, so please just offer some suggestions of games that could be considered a sandbox in some aspect.

The game features that I am most concerned with are:

  • Open World (go anywhere you want, no invisible barriers)
  • Variety of Classes (or even better, a build your own class skill system)
I'm only looking for games that were either released in the last 2-3 years, or are in alpha/beta and CAN ACTUALLY BE PLAYED RIGHT NOW.  I've been out of the mmorpg loop for awhile and am hoping there's something new I haven't heard of.  I'm currently playing Archeage, it's a decent game but my attention is starting to drift...

    Darkfall: Unholy Wars  has everything you're looking for. Not sure how populated it is these days though.

    How do you get gear in Age of Wushu?  Is most of it quest rewards, crafted, bought from NPCs, or looted from monsters/chests? 

     

    Is there much exploration?  For instance just picking somewhere on the map and seeing what's there, maybe finding a dungeon or boss mob?

    All gear is crafted. There's plenty places to explore. There too much to the game to detail. You will Need to ask lots of questions.

    I'm actually having a ton of fun with Project Gorgon.  It's much more my style.  It's very nonlinear compared to Archeage and most other MMORPGs out there.  From what I can tell, there may not be any PVP, though, so that might turn some people away, and the world is somewhat small.  Aside from that, it's a really fun game.  I'd highly recommend it for fans of Asheron's Call or other people looking for a sandbox type game.

    Project Gorgon or The Repopulation, although both in early stages but both are playable.

    Gloria Victis is in a pre-alpha state but stable and playable. Problem I have with most early access/alpha though is that they lead to eventual burn-out well before the game gets released. Still, I'm going back to try this one out after a leave of absence since they opened up a new US server (finally).

    Eve... although the gameplay may only appeal to people who enjoy looking at spreadsheets all day.
