not happy with my templar lvl 14

darnapkindarnapkin Member UncommonPosts: 146

after reading a lot of guides most people it seems use light armor, a resto staff and thats just not my cup of tea.

I want to play a real tank class, should I have gone DK? Right not  I just want to be able to grind really fast right now, so what are my options ?  I'm going to reroll.

Im going to go with play what ever and how ever you like...

As for grinding fast, that I have no clue because of the game world and me being compelled to take my time and enjoy what they created.

i always say play what makes you happy.

you play the game, you are the one that has to enjoy it - screw what the rest sais :)

of cors it can bve of advantage to play a cookie cutter specc or fotm, but hell... enough people do already, and they still suck with it :P

if you want a tanky class, play plate and sword with shield i'd say, if you want more dmg, go for dual wield or 2hand ^^

I have a heavy armor 2hand wielding templar that I've had fun with. Screw the min/maxers and have fun.

I have a lvl 18 Templar with Sword and Board second weapon is a Bow. So you could say a Stamina build with mostly medium armor and 2 heavy. You don't have to be a healer.

To answer truthfully, I played  aV14 nightblade, but this goes for any class. It does't matter what class you play any of them can tank. However, with that being said right now(Zenimax is looking into fixing) Cloth wearing tanks works best with Temp and DKs. Simply they have abilities that allow them to soft cap armor while wearing light and light allows you to produce the most spell crit dmg and magicka return. Until they finally fix this Temp and DK in the right set up of gear work best with 5 light 2 heavy. Sorry to burst your ESO bubble, but if you know the skills enough you can make a good tanking spec with all heavy you just need to focus on magicka until they add the next patch. Good luck have fun! Oh what my respoinse means is there is no need to reroll bc its the best either class you pick. If you want to tank with medium NB is a good choice just put all pts in magic.

OP don't listen to people like that. They are a dying bread in ESO. You rarely here things like that anymore because they simply are no true. If you want to play a heavy armor tanky temp, do it. Your biggest issue right now is that you are level 14 :) You are missing A LOT of what makes Templars nearly unkillable. Keep building your way, you'll be fine. That's one of the cool things about ESO. You can find away to make it work.

One of my alts is currently a level 30 2-HD + Bow Stamina based templar in 7/7 medium armor.

It may not be a tank with heavy armor and shield but it's tanky as hell with a combination of self healing, damage shields and very good AOE damage. I chew through packs of mobs with ease and come out the other side at 100% health more often than not... and I can solo same level Dolmens with a lot more ease than I've ever been able to do with any other build.

If anyone ever tells you that resto/light armor Templars are the only way to go just stop listening to them right there and then.

I leveled using the 2-hd first and still favor using that. The bow part is just nice for ranged fights or to weaken them a bit before you go into melee range to finish them off.

This is what my bars look like.

    First bar:

Brawler deals AOE damage and gives you a damage shield. Puncturing Sweep deals more AOE damage, is a good magicka dump and it heals you. Executioner and Critical Rush are the main damage dealers and Rally increases weapon damage AND heals you.

    Second bar:

Poison Injection does good damage and has a great execute DOT component. Scorched Earth and Bombard work great together for AOE damage and keeping them all pinned in the fire DOT part of Scorched Earth. Magnum shot does good damage, interrupts the target and gives you distance to then do more damage with Critical Rush from the first bar. Repentance is a great NO COST heal + stamina regen based on nearby things you've killed.

I use the same Ultimate in both bars that only needs 75 ultimate resource to activate (so you can use it a lot) does good damage and lowers your damage taken.

The only things missing to be a real tank with that build is aggro generation abilities but as a solo grinding build, it's tough to beat.

Tamiriel Foundry has some nice guides. But like the two guys that posted above you can make what you want. But just know in this mmo the early levels are tough. Hopefully the new patch on PTS will address this.

    Same here.

What is it with people and blindly following guides these days?

Is everyone really that unwilling to actually try something out? =/

Yeah this was a big problem in this game. So many new players getting bad advice and quitting. This is a game you just have play your way and figure it out. And don't try to take on mobs above your level when your new. Take you time in this game and explore. If you can't do that then its not for you.

Why do min/max'ers take the fun out of the game? I find it fun to find the best possible spec to solo X amount of anything. To be fair his orignial post also said I want to "grind fast" and if he wants to do that go 5 light 2 heavy probably 5 piece seducers/2 w/e and the spears that heals you for dmg done and blinding light or w/e and just spam it on everything never running out of mana and keeping full health. Man if I was online right now I could easiler make him a set but im not. Ppl would probably do it for cheap though and then he would feel invincible.

    What is it?

People are lazy.   And they don't play for fun.  They want to pump their egos by building a badass toon , just by blindly following what someone else has done.

Doesn't matter what OP does with his toon, he won't be happy.
