Aion: Player Feedback Integral to Latest Update

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Aion developers have listened to their community and today's update is the first step in implementing feature adjustments and game improvements based on that feedback. First off the bat are the new "abbeys" where players who have not logged in for 30+ days can catch up on gear upgrades through a series of daily and one-shot events. In addition, the manastone system has undergone a major upgrade.

With the new system, if an attempt at socketing a new manastone fails, only the new manastone will be destroyed while all previously socketed manastones will be maintained. This is balanced by a slightly reduced success rate at socketing new manastones. Players will require approximately 60 percent fewer stones to completely socket their gear under this new system.

Players will also get the ability to enchant items beyond +15 using a newly implemented Amplification System. By using a new “Amplification tool” and either a “Amplification stone” or an identical copy of the item being broken through, players can add unlimited enchantment.

    Don't think so.

Shame. It was probably the prettiest looking game I ever saw.

    the third wow-killer.

a year after WAR and AOC.

6 years later we finally gave up on killing WoW.

This game actually could've been very unique if the devs had moderately higher IQs.

As someone who has played the game for many years, these changes seem extremely westernizing. Basicaly make the game muuuuch easier than it already was at late game. I'm interested in how the community reacts to these changes, altought I dont play the game anymore and even when I did - it was in EU and I doubt they will get the same changes :C

I'm the hardcore player, the one that rushes lvl cap before you even finish the starting area.

I started playing again in December. Saw the icon on my PC and decided to give it a shot. Was happy to find out it was now truly free. Started lvling other classes and that actually got me to log in consecutive weeks until I hit lvl cap on my cleric last week.

I don't think the game held on to the expected hype as when it released in 09, but what game does.... Except WoW that is (Which I no longer play).

So, I'm actually enjoying the game and mostly because I can always find pvp and pve at anytime in certain areas. I do wish people would play again though, it's not as fun as it could be due to a huge population drop in both factions. They even added some perks for returning players in yesterday's update.

This - exactly this. Manastone socketing was one of the biggest "right that's it I'm outa here" causes.

Re Westernizing the game - well that's because this is the west, something they failed to completely understand.

Now we can all quote "hardcore..etc" but what publishers fail time and time again to understand; is that if you want to have a large and sustained playerbase, a required enhancement mechanic(s) that repeatedly wipes every bonus item off your gear/weapon ain't going to be broadly popular.

From the start, players where asking for a change in this lose all socketing - the suggestion to just lose the latest manastone was put forward years ago, and ignored.

I loved this game, our guild had a high number of active people, and I mean fully active. But gradually this socketing, albeit with several other disliked rng features, whittled them down.

The game had good features - loved the great fort battles. Win or lose I still remember those with enjoyment.

They obviously recognize that socketing is an issue - so it's really frustrating to see them only doing something about it after a great deal of the playerbase has given up.

Happy or depressed? - Entirely depressed at what they should have done years ago.
