    I am fine with the review.. several points were spot on.

     

    I am annoyed by the end review statement.  It conflicts with what you said in the review.

    And I am not even sure what this statement even means.

     

    "Polish has been an issue with Marvel Heroes since launch and unfortunately that is still true today. Things have improved for sure, but the game is still buggier than it should be at this point and game performance runs the gamut from inconsistent to abysmal depending on the activity you’re participating in and the patch version you’re playing on."

    Buggier with just the framerate?  it goes from 60 to 40 when 50 enemies and 1,000 particle effects?

     

    Like I said, you are fairly spot on with the ratings, but the justification conflicts with one another too much for my taste.

    Love the game. While the game play can become very repetitive, the mix of heroes' powers make it more fun to run through the same old missions for the 4th time. And I have found that the real key to how fun it feels is in sync with the hero you are playing and how much you enjoy that hero's powers and play style. I played the Thing and didn't like him much after half way through the game (this was beta, however) so I stopped playing. I came back to it a few months ago and got the Scarlet Witch. Loved her powers! Played her all the way to 60 and jumped right in with another hero.

    Also, while I have actually bought a few things in the game, it is not really necessary. I had 6 heroes and never paid for a single one. They are good at giving away stuff to make the game more fun and that is saying a lot. Not since Neverwinter have I played a character all the way through the game, enjoyed it all, and never paid for a single thing. Great job on a great game!

    I guess for a F2P it's a pretty good free ride for a while. I'll have to check it out some day. I can't see myself leveling multiple heroes though, not from the sound of the comments above. Repetition rules it would seem.

    So you accidentally clicked on something and then were a smartass about it and then you also threatened them. And you got banned for it..not to mention you probably left about about 70% of the story that was important and made you sound extremely bad. Sounds like the ban was well deserved.

    The game does not feel anything like a MMO.  It is a mediocre game at best although they have improved it.  Certainly fails the test to be scored so high.  I think my problem with it, you have to use their characters, nothing is yours. 

    Anything over a 6 is pushing it. 

  • I don't get the complaints about repetitiveness - Marvel heroes is exactly what you should expect from the genre. Like Diablo 2, you play the same content over-and-over (in fact it has more content than Diablo 2.) Like Diablo 2, this is kept fresh, because you play it with different heroes or builds, which makes the experience new and different. The new experience is derived from the new heroes and powers.

    If you liked Diablo 2, and did not find it repetitive, then I would give Marvel Heroes a try. I find it almost as good. (Diablo 2 is an all-time favorite of mine.) If you found Diablo 2 too repetitive, then you probably don't like the genre.

    My issue is a lot of the heroes seem to be the same with different skins to me. I did not get that new game play feel once I left the ranged vs melee and then aoe or single target in each.

    Very helpful comment actually, I didn't care for D2, D3 bored me even more quickly as well, as you said, I just don't care for the genre so this would be another to steer clear of for me.

    As for the 8.5 rating, I'm skeptical, but then I don't think any MMO has ever hit 8.5, not even my favorites EVE or DAOC, so I'm just a bit of a tougher grader than most.

    Overall I love the game. It's fun and I like Marvel heroes.

     

    there are tooltips everywhere all you have to do is slightly move your wrist over to the designated area to see the description, the item you were trying to upgrade obviously was not a weapon or armor (clearly described in the tooltip in the crafting slot).

    please don't rip on a game if you are too dumb to figure out simple things.

    It's true that the Unreal 3 engine allows great Aesthetics and yes Marvel Heroes has some nice graphics overall, but that's about it. You can't really give it 8.5 for gameplay when it's totally lacking in that  area.

    Also, allow me to add the endless number of bugs per hero powers, heroes that come straight from the Test Center with already poorly implemented powers (Psylocke's Assassinate, Psi-Bolt and Katana Typhoon not hitting enemies on the 1st few attempts, same for unreliable CC, Ghost Rider's Fear skills occasionally working, most of the time his targets get stunned instead, just to name a few). Not to mention the Terminals always bugging and either going deserted, without any mobs inside, or with bosses not dropping loot.  Midtown Madness is almost deserted and still an issue for some players. Holo Sim has been having the mechanical arm wave bug for such a long time, its ridiculous to even try to  reach a certain wave number without this bug forcing you to fail.

    Bad events, ridiculous story  (short and ends around lvl 25, totally disconnected from other game modes). Bad itemization, limited customization for heroes in terms of builds and stats per items.

    There's so much to say about how messy this game is at the moment and totally undeserving of any good review mark.

    It's not lacking in game play at all. You must not be playing the same game I am. There's plenty to do in game, and more on the way.

    Hero bugs are few and far between, and most are balance issues, not actual bugs. Terminals always bugging? In my 700 hours of play time (not including time spent playing the non-steam client) I've had that happen maybe twice. Midtown has only been bugged for a couple days, as has the holo-sim arm event, and neither one of those bugs popped up for me yesterday.

    Events are fun, community is mostly decent, builds are diverse, and the itemization is fine. I'll just flat out say that you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

    I find it amusing that many people clamored for a re-review of MH, yet what are the first posts?

    "This game doesn't deserve that score!"

    "Game is full of bugs and crappy!"

    "Game is boring!"

    "OMG did Gaz pay you to write this?"

    Sigh...

    We must be totally playing from different planets too, because you have nothing to confute my claims with, yet you are quoting me ...for ...reason?

    Anyway, the game IS boring, also undeserving of such high marks as many other sentient beings have expressed above.

    And yeah, it's true everything is fine and dandy, no bugs at all, probably only on your 700 hours of who know what world

If you don't like the genre, go play something (or whine) about something you like, if that is possible.     The current level of "characterization" is a waste IMO.  In missions or instances, things are usually too fast-paced to even be aware of it.  The only time you do notice is usually when you congregate in a base or are making room in your inventory.  THAT's when you hear the same lines of dialogue over and over.  (Originally I kept wondering who kept repeating "It's clobbering time" before I realized it was me. image )

     

    I pretty much gave up on the game when I tried to solo the Dr. Doom mission at the end of Act I.  This is the one where you keep defeating Victor only to have him resurrect twice but even stronger.  (You'd think a smart guy like Vic would start out at the Cosmic level so he wouldn't be defeated at all and save his less powerful states as a "last resort.")  Doom's in a chamber at the end of a long maze.  Once inside this room, you can't leave even for a minute to restore your health.  If you die, he's pretty much recovered his health by the time you've gotten thru the maze and returned.  I had a mid-30 level Hulk with a signature power of Meteor Strike when I finally gave up.  Sure, I could have asked someone to help me complete the mish, but if you're playing "the strongest one there is" several levels over the minimum requirements for a supposedly soloable mission, then you shouldn't need to.

     

    The last few months I would only log in to get freebies (Runes !  spring candy !) or to take advantage of a costume sale, but actually, you know, playing ?  Meh.  Possibly the teamup system will change my mind.

     

    I actually liked Diablo I and II.  Now maybe I had too high expectations going in but Marvel Heroes just feels like "lather, rinse, repeat."


     

    i don't know what game you played but it obviously wasn't marvel heroes. bosses don't heal when you die and you spawn pretty much right next to them so you can finish the job. how did you not realize that?

    maybe you should try content where other people play then like midtown? there are usually tons of people there and the boss battles are epic with usually 20-50 people taking them down. hmm as i recall some mmorpgs only allow 40 people in a piece of content.

    i have never ever EVER had a problem finding a group AT ANY LEVEL so obviously there are a massive amount of people playing.

    weird because I'm always excited to try out new and different powers when I unlock a new hero for free. maybe you are not putting your skills on the hotbar? you have to press P and drag it there... for some people I know this may seem weird and confusing, perhaps for you too.

    Game is an Action RPG, and NOT an MMO.

     

    Not sure why MMORPG.com has to lie about what the game is. Are you guys really hurting that much for things to report or talk about?

     

    Also, such a high score for a game that universally is considered to have very low production quality??

     

    Doesn't seem like this site can be trusted anymore when it comes to reviews.

    I tried the game several months back and didn't care for it much as it didn't feel like there was enough there. I came back to it about a month ago and saw vast improvements and began playing again. I have 4 heroes at level 60 and still playing and having fun. This game is in no stretch perfect, but then again no game is.

    All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.

    I'm a Marvel fan so MH is like heaven to me! It's far from perfect but I've been playing F2P games since 2004 and this is the only one that has weekly patches and active devs who listen to suggestions and reply us in the forum. Also plenty of events, giveaways (redeem keys), improvements and they try their best to fix bugs. Oh and it's not pay to win.

    One thing I don't like about MH is that some things feel unfinished. They added PVP and no one plays it because it's been the same for months, they added team-ups and people use them in passive mode because active team-ups die all the time... It feels like they release new stuff too fast instead of improving older things.

    Other than that, I love this game! :)

    I can't take this review seriously.

    It gives a 7 for Polish to a game that is ::

    and

    "... the UI is adequate, but just barley. What frustrates me most is the presentation of information. it's still hard to make sense of a lot of the game's numbers ..." 

    I'm assuming this is a rating scale from 1-10 and not 1 to something else or 5-10.

    The write up makes it seem to be below average in Polish so that would mean no more than a 5 as far as I'm concerned. This  is sounding like more of a 4.

    This brings the rest of the ratings given into suspect even if they are reviewed more positively.

    Not looking at the numbers, this game seems to have a long way to go in order to be playable let alone a good gaming experience.

    To sum it up, it seems to be :: If you are really into Marvel Super-heroes you will find a much better game than when it was  launched, but expect it to be glitchy (if not unplayable). We recommend going to the forums before playing the game so that you will have any chance of making sense of what is going on once you start  playing the game - yeah, and expect to have to head back tot he forums quite a bit, so keep the page marked if not your browser open to them while playing. Good luck, you'll need it."

    The game is fun when you first start. and you can trade 3 costumes for a random costume.
