Yea...If you think the community is a bunch of lone wolves and that the game is to simple then there are only 2 explanations...
Either you are a liar (most likely)
Or you were playing a different game.
As for The real ww2ol... I Have been a part of the ww2ol community since 3 months after release. I love this simulation very much. It honestly makes my eyes tear up with excitement to read the posts made by my fellow soldiers and it makes me proud to see the posts of new players that have found the game rewarding as I have.
WW2OL is a uniqe environment. It is the only theater wide war simulation in the world that is available to the public. You won't find ANYTHING like ww2ol anywhere else other than a military training facility. The community is incredible. There are many people that highly passionate about this game, and with good reason. At any given time you will find people discussing the physics of flight, the dynamics of an 88mm armor piercing round striking 55mm of hardened steel or the tactics that are best used to fight a large scale tank battle. This game brings true life into the virtual world as none other has ever dared.
In ww2ol I am usually found flying the BF-109E (sometimes refered to as the ME-109E by mistake). All of the historic advantages and disadvantages can be found in my killing machine of choice. Under combat conditions you will find that the 109 has such advantages as a superior sustained climb rate, high stability in a dive and reasonable maneuverability at high speeds. The ww2ol 109 is a fast plane as was the real 109. It is a true killing machine in the hands of an experienced pilot. It can also prove to be a flying coffin the hands of a rookie.
Throughout the game you will find this level of realism and beyond. All combined it brings you into a world like nothing you have seen. A world closer to your dreams than you have thought possible, UNTIL NOW.
Vast landscapes, extreme range of view, many unit types all serving their functions in a semi-structured, semi-chaotic whirl of blood, sweat and Iron. This is war, Virtual, but still war.
If you think you are ready to take on the biggest, baddest, most intense PvP challenge on the face of earth...Then you have no further to look than ww2ol.
don't come posting things being a complete asshole. It was WWIIOL that I played...during the 14 day free trial. Let me rephrase so your simple retarded mind can understand. The controls are EASY. Everyone is saying that flying planes, driving tanks, etc is hard. I play the game with a Saitek 150 controller, It is an analog stick with 8 buttons. That's it. So that means that I only have an X and Y axis. I use my keyboard up/down arrows as throttle. Since my stick is analog I cannot "ease back" on the stick for a slight climb so I have to pull back hard, hit negative G's and nearly pass out. However, the flying is easy. Many kills have I logged with planes alone (and by the way I use a Spitfire Mark I I believe). The community sucks because EVERY base I spawn at there is NO ONE there. By saying the community sucks I mean as far as the amount of people, not the people themselves. WWIIOL only has a player base of 15,000 (see MMORPG.com's review). With such a large world and a low player base makes this game worthless. I do agree that it has potential, but it is not worth paying 13 bucks a month. I am not in it just for graphics because the visuals are horrible. The sound is great, but that is probably the best part of it. And as far as you saying the following:
I love this simulation very much. It honestly makes my eyes tear up with excitement to read the posts made by my fellow soldiers and it makes me proud to see the posts of new players that have found the game rewarding as I have.
Excitement my friend..my eye's tear from excitement.
And if every town you logged into was empty then you need to read the online manual that explains that only town with the little icons (the blinking red icons or the bright yellowish explosion icon) have action in them currently. It really isn't complicated I promise. You probably spent you're time think that every town was a little shoebox map like bf1942...
I also have no doubt that you are exaggerating you success in the air by alot. There is nothing easy about using real air combat tactics and nothing easy about facing hundreds of combat airsim veterens. If air combat in ww2ol is so simple for you then I suspect that you have a hard time finding any games that are a challenge at all.
You are the one that should stop posting this garbage.. It's easy to BS when you don't have to provide proof.
I am confident that the people on these boards will ignore your ignorant blathering and just find out for themselves.
I have no need to provide you proof. The game is lame and that is it. Let people play if they like, but if the game was actually good, then there would be a larger player base like other successful (and even some unsucessful) MMORPGs. And for anyone who actually has flown a real plane, the dynamics are not even close to real. There may be similarities, but nothing close. You claim realism, but you are basing that on the description of the game, it is way off, not even close on ANY aspect, well, with the exception of the story line, and as for the difficulty in games, yes I find it very very very hard to find a game that is challenging, and for your info, I never played BF1942 or any other flight sim, this is my first, I usually play action MMORPG such as EQ or AC, or the such and sci-fi games...WWIIOL is a sorry excuse for a game, it has been the worse game since launch (and I find it terribly difficult to beleive that you say you "played" all the time 3 days after launch considering server instability, lag, and everything esle, especially since the minimum system requirements that are listed for the game NOW, were not even available at launch, I was going to try this game back then, but for the same reason I am disgusted with it now). And if you read the title of the POST that you are responding on...it is "Is WWIIOL worth playing?"...which means the poster is looking for pros and cons. Just because a little jackass like you likes the game, don't get pissed when someone disagrees with you. It just proves your maturity level is at a low. And btw, if playing a game brings tears of excitement, then I need to repeat myself, Get out of your house and get a real life.

Low numbers are because of the bad start of this game, and hard to convince people that the game has changed, and the other thing is realism not many people interested in realism, the most of the players are near to 15-16 years old, and WWII Online players average age is 30.
There are many US Army pilots and Air Sim veterans who play this game and they say its realistic, you how said havent played any airsims before cant judge this correctly.
Have you every get along with a squad in game? Talk to anyone? I think not, because if you do you would find battles easily anytime.
As I see with 1.10 the players numbers greatly increased so i hope soon there will be 50.000 or 100.000 subscribers.

Tried many times to speak with people about going on missions with them, no one ever responds, they just spawn in and run out. And sorry to say 50,000 to 100,000 subscribers is not going to happen for this game...and if it does by some miracle....good luck to anyone wanting to play cause it will turn into WWIII Lag Wars.
And all you people that love this game, get off my back for saying it sucks, I have my opinion, you have yours.
And one more thing on how they try and rip you off....you can go to walmart and by WWIIOL in a jewel case for 9.95 with a cd key and a 30 trial....however, pay for the key online and cornered rat will charge you 19.95, a whole 100% increase...plus this game is not worth 12.95/mo...great MMORPG such as EQ, AC, EB, and many more do not even charge that much. The name of the company is cornered rat, that's exactly how you'll feel if you buy this game.
I don't know what weapons World War III will be fought with, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. ~Albert Einstein
You should give it a look. Theres a 14 day free trial.
Dekron:
1. people wont join you because:
- Didnt choose the same mission (you cant talk to them only by private messages)
- They have more important things to do, like helping out a squad attack or organize in CAP, CAS flights.
- Or they are just LWs
You have to join them (the squadies) because they have orders from the High Command so they will try to accomplish those mission, they didn't have time to do other stuff. Find a fighter squad and join there squad channel so you can play with them. Mostly when i fly i tune in an air sector channel (north: 18, 28, 48,south: 38 for axis) and ask where my help is needed. They tell me instantly, then i just go with them.
2. Lag war: i think not CRS is getting new servers and larger bandwith as the community increase, and remaking the netcode to provide smoother, more lagfree gaming. It game is constantly evolving, so what you see now is not what you gonna see next year, or even christmas, because there are bigger patches every 1 or 2 months. I say if you don't like what you see now, look back in 3 months and you will see that many things changed.
XO Manohun alezredes 1st Hunyadi Panzer Regiment The only Hungarian squad in WWII Online HUN HQ: http://wwiionline.srv.hu
There is no story line. It is a free flow PvP game in which you reinact ww2 and allow the players to change the way the war progressed...Which brings me to this...
"I usually play action MMORPG such as EQ or AC"
ww2ol is a realtime all pvp game, if you consider EQ to me of an action game than ww2ol then I can understand where all of these off the wall claims are coming from.
"and I find it terribly difficult to beleive that you say you "played" all the time 3 days after launch considering server instability, lag, and everything else..."
First of all I never said I played all the time 3 days after launch. I started 3 months after launch and yes there was problems with server stability and such. Things have improved immensely. Are there still problems? yep. Do any massive online games run perfectly? FAR FROM IT.
" And if you read the title of the POST that you are responding on...it is "Is WWIIOL worth playing?"...which means the poster is looking for pros and cons. Just because a little jackass like you likes the game, don't get pissed when someone disagrees with you. It just proves your maturity level is at a low. "
You are the only one to have been immature here...That is so obvious I won't bother to quote any of it.
If you haven't tried ww2ol yet go ahead and grab a free trial while the getting is good. In order to enjoy the game and to get familiar with the way it all works you should consider joining a squad (yes, even if only for 14 days ). If you would like to ask more questions or are interested in joining a good squad so that you aren't alone for your trial please visit us at www.jg53.com .
A big salute from the ww2ol community. See you on the Muese!
Hmmm... Well I HAVE played since launch, and the only day back then that the server was unavailable was the very first day, 6/6/01. After that a 1.1 patch was released and the servers were available. Of course back then they had a buch of different servers that were not combined till a couple of months after launch, but for the most part the servers have been up and running during all that time.
Of course there were a lot of problaems at luanch, I won['t deny that, but they never stopped me from being able to play. Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

Dekron, you are an out and out liar. If you don't like that I will give you the ability to prove yourself on the battlefield. Next time you try the game on a free trial, lookme up and we'll duel it out. We'll pick a spot and meet there to fight it out. We'll have an audience and people will record the action. They'll then make the movie available to download here so that all who wish can see the truth for themselves.
SO the question is are you afraid of the truth? Time to put up or shut up. In fact no need to wait for anohter free trial. Your honor is on the line. Go get one of those 9.95 Wal-Mart specials and use the free month. I'll take you on bombing missions and have you up to Corporal in a few hours so that you can use the Spitfire MkI. I'll use the Bf-109E-4. Then if you like we can use different planes. I'll use the Bf-110-C and you can use the Hurricane MkI. The 110 has a hard tiem fighting the Hurricane because the Hurricane turns so well.
SO the challenge is out there. Either you accept it or you don't and no explanations either way will change what people think of your choice.
Fact is there is no way you could do well with a controller like that. If you only have the X and Y axis, you would be shot down in short order. Most players in the game are very adept at using the rudders to their advantage which you clearly stated you don't have. When I get on the six of a 109 or 110 if I am not using rudders I will not be on their six for long.
Another point is your full on and full off BS. If that is all you have you wouldn't even make it into the air. Actually you couldn't even make it in the air without rudders if you are flying the Allied equipment. Any Allied pilot would see through your lie in a second. You have to be able to add just the right amount of rudder to offset the torque of the engine otherwise you will spin to the left and crash. You must have the ability to add just the right amount of rudder, too much will also rob you of take off speed and you will crash.
You also need to be able to ease into the air, if you pull back too hard as your claimed setup would do. You would stall and crash.
If you can't turn smootly you will do many things, scrub off speed to fast, drain your ATP making you more susceptible to blackouts, making you more vulnerable to a player who was preserving his ATP and keeping his speed up.
It also takes smooth flying to put the rounds in the right spot. The Spitfire MkI requires that you hit the enemy as close to the convergence range as possible, if you don't you will most likely not receive a kill even if you hit. The .303s don't do enough damage if just one or two guns hit the target.
SO you must be amazing to be able to get your nose pointed in the right spot to adjust for the speed and turn rate of the plane you are chasing as well as the right elevation to account for the ballisitc drop of the rounds plus be at the right distance to hit with your convergeance setting. What convergeance setting were you using anyway?
Amazing that never having flown a flight sim before you can magically overcome all of this and still shoot down players who have spent 2 1/2 years mastering their craft, with ease.
MODS: Please do something about this, this is a blatant attempt to smear WWIIOL, something must be done about this. Please delete his post. I would not have questioned him had he said he had a superb flight controller set up and years playing flightsims, but the part of the controller gave him away.
I can also tell you that many of the squads will see the new green tags that new players have and instantly try to recruit them and bring them along on major ops. I don't believe for a second that he is being genuine. Someone will try to train you if you ask.
I have no problem with someone having their opinions about the game if they are genuine but it is clear this guy isn't being genuine.
For those thinking of joining, please download and install TeamSpeak from www.teamspeak.org and Roger Wilco from www.rogerwilco.com so that you are ready to speak with a player who is training you. We use TeamSpeak but I know that a few squads use Roger Wilco. Having both will insure that you are prepared to receive the training right away regardless of which one the guy offereing training uses.
Voice coms are a must for this game. I can train someone who is on voice coms in a very short amount of time. It is much easier to explain things with voice as opposed to typing everything.

Well after a few months when this was originally posted I finally see this message. I decline your challenge because I have no need to prove myself to you or anyone. Also the fact is I will not waste a cent on this game, even if it is 10 bucks. I find it interesting that you played so long and can't even master taking off with a simple controller. As far as my post being deleted, I did nothing to break the rules of conduct. If you cannot handle someone disagreeing with you then I suggest you find something else to do instead of posting on a board.

Well, kind of....
Instead of "Leveling" you gain rank. You start out as a Private (Who can only have a Rifle and Sapper I think, with some light armor) and the further you move up, the more equipment you are allowed to use. I think pretty much after Captain or Lt., you can use everything. But the thing is, is your rank isn't global. So if you are a Colonel in the British Army, you won't be a Colonel in the British Airforce or Navy, etc.

Sometimes, it is better to say nothing at all. Cause big mouths say big words, and big words travel like bacteria.
It is definately worth playing. WWIIOL is NOT like MOHAA, COD, Battlefied etc. Those are first person shooters centered around WW2 weapons.
WWIIOL is a World War 2 Simulator. All the weapons are historically acurate and the game has a real physics engine. The game has reall attrition (You die in a tank and it is gone for 3 hours or until your drive one up from a town in the rear), real tactics, real stratagey and takes real teamwork. I'm not talking 10-20 players, I'm talking over 200 players all organized, all on voice comms with commanders communicating and coordinating in one half of the map for one side.
If you want to run out, frag a bunch of enemy units and have a huge score so you can brag about how cool you are, this game is not for you. You can go out as infantry and not fire a single bullet but still prove to be the turning point in the battle (With recon and other small tasks).
Give it a try for a few months, play with a unit and get to know the game before you decide.
If you want to give it a try, let me know. You can play along side my squad for awhile to see how you like it. www.chawks.com

"with the exception of the story line"

I have to run the BS flag up the flag pole on this one.
