For the next few weeks we are continuing to work on the "Subscription Free" service. For those of you that have not seen the explanation of this service, I'll list it out for you here.
Subscription Free
New Players will be able to create a new account and and play for free for a period of 12 months. The new account will have limitations on the BattleRank (+ or - BR8) and the CommandRank (+ or - CR2). Essentially, new players will be able to have access to any part of the game but they will be limited on the diversity of their arsenal. Time Frame We are shooting for February 14th for Launch.

Wow. Thats interesting. THanks for posting it. I've always wanted to try planetside but due to computer restraints (used to have integrated graphics) and its high subscription price. I turned it down. Maybe now ill be able to get an experience of the game.

that means we still have to buy the game? cause when i was still able to download planetside for free i was using gamecards..
and i just saw download cost money now..

You have to be the worse Player in the world not to get BR6 in 1 day...Hell I can get it in 1 hour.... They really should have bumbed up the level in the trial.

Planetside.com just got a new website in preperation for the "Free Play" option. Although the JOIN NOW buttion in the center does not give you the free play option yet, it most likely will when they launch the promotion.
