Who in there right mind would buy 20 potions for 200 crowns? That's 100 pots for the price of the imperial edition, and whats that 20$ over the basic? image Everything else seems pretty cool if going by the 2000 crowns = 20$ scale.

There is ONLY one thing that matters, add up all the cash shop and tell us if it costs more than a subscription to have the entire game's contents?

You can selectively pay for the content you want, and it may end up being cheaper if you buy less than 10-15 a month over the long run.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like F2P either, but this perspective is flawed.

Business as usual. I think I'm getting numb to it now

Upgrade to imperial edition, a guar and a pet and there's nothing else I want actually. Alchemy is so easy to level that buying pots is a complete waste imo.

Edit: repair kits may be useful in a hard dungeon with an imbalanced group where people die a lot. Making money is easy in ESO and repairing gear doesn't cost much. Hope they won't start herding player to CS with making drops smaller and such.

For me I am not sure what it is. I think that it's a little to do with nothing is free in this world and things change. Maybe a little of, This cat was let out of the bag a long time ago. Useless to beat a dead horse lumping all cash shops together anymore. I despise certain practices. I think RNG in cash shops should have some oversight. At the very least companies should be forced to put up statistical odds of the RNG items in the description.I think that's my only gripe. I don't play ESO so I can't comment on its cs model. Actually this thread just pointed out to me that it sounds like it's going F2P?Th

Oh, I despise artificial  pay walls like in most mobile games. Thankfully not a huge problem in MMO's yet. I actually find the cs games that I do play cheaper than a sub game in the long run. Even with a box price. As long as I don't chase after the RNG items. Which I don't.

That actually makes sense to you?

I've been playing for 10 months and I don't have the current "entire game's content." Not even the small subset of that called the "game content worth having." I have achievements and dyes yet to unlock, don't have nor need every type of horse, etc.

But on the other hand, those of you who think having it all is the "ONLY one thing that matters" support the rest of us in B2P and F2P games. So thanks for that I guess.

My cash will be going for additional real content like new zones or housing... that sort of thing. And none of that will be available for a long, long time.

1500 * 3 = 4500 because I buy my sub time 3 months at a time. I have 4500 crowns coming per sub period. I never said 4500 per month. The math make sense now?

There isn't any account for how much the DLC will cost in the annual cost estimation. I would expect those to cost around 4500 or so depending on the size.

The cost of the DLC's will be irrelevant if you're a subscriber, your sub covers access to them all.

However, if you want permanent access to the DLC contents even when you're not subbed, then it's a different matter. Don't be too surprised if the DLC's don't ever make it into the Cash Shop though. They may remain cash-only purchases to dilute the effect of the monthly crowns allowance given to subscribers.

  • If they are successful in creating a paygate to keep the degenerates at bay I'll come back in a heartbeat. I'm going to give it a second glance in April.

I don't want to deal with the f2p/b2p but I don't mind if they are in the same game. SWTOR has the most excellent approach. F2Pers are gated to level 50. Beyond that they have to start putting in $$.

An accidental post .... maybe; or "leaking it" to see what the reaction is.

Costumes and cosmetic pets - they won't impact the game at all.

Content - as and when there is any - will either be available to buy directly from the Zenimax site using $$$ presumably or via the Zenimax cash shop using crowns; can't see them making people buy crowns to then buy DLC but they could.

Also possible of course that Zenimax may have another company running the cash shop; don't think they will but that is what WarnerBros do in LotR.

The bonuses, the repair bots etc. ...... on day 1 I wouldn't expect any impact. Later well this was - essentially - discussed in the recent Planetside2 thread. Different game but the concept - in game alteration to encourage cash shop purchases .... slippery slope.

Thankfully no sign of "gambling packs"; in whatever guise - packs, chests, etc. Should add the caveats "in this screenshot" and "yet" I suppose.

And going forward there will be promotions: enter code xyz to get 10 free xp pots. Lots of promotions to try and get people hooked on pots.

I do worry that this will detract from Zenimax focusing on content. Maybe there is a financial imperative. We simply don't know.

Monty Python's spam tune however does comes to mind - as it does with other cash shops: fluff. fluff, fluff, fluff, ....wonderful fluff.

    Hopefully it stays harmless.

This is correct. We are currently discussing having some motifs available as part of future DLC. Whether or not we will offer them by themselves has not yet been decided. Jessica Folsom

Whoever thinks that the shop will be limited to "silly cosmetics", is either experiensing this financial plan conversion for the first time, or lie to themselves.

Motifs is just the first step. Makes sense to begin from the crafting/appearance gray zone.

In a short while, the only way to craft anything of worth will be through the cash shop.

Think of it this way.. Why would someone buy your "simple" looking primal-style shield, when they can buy that big, phat, awesome looking, fire-breathing Dragonscale(??) one, even though the stats will (hopefully) be the same.

    And the worst part?

Let's see if they've worked on any updates by the end of summer.

    PC updates. Not console fine-tunning.

I doubt we should expect any major updates in that time frame, I'd also expect the major stuff ( actual content additions, IE thieves Guild, Dark BH, etc.). to be DLC and not free to the game proper. I base that on the wording used during the recent Q&A.
