There is another not publically know reason for slower future content updates that ZoS can't really mention - since the beginning of the year many experienced devs have left the company (out of of their own volition). They simply don't have the same staff as they did even 3 months ago, as some of the key talent is no longer there.
The studio as whole is in a state of transition so a slowdown is necessary.
Amazing how even now you can still white knight the game and by going with a you somehow knowing what is not "publically known" post.
Do you work for the company now? Why did they lose devs if the game is doing so well and is going to more than make up for players with the console release as you say in your first post? Why cant you just admit that Frior made a promise that he had no chance to keep and be done with it? Or that 6 months with nothing actually IS a long time to go with no updates?
Oh wait, because that would be admitting to something negative, and we just cant do that. Either for it 100% or against it 100% remember...yeah.
Anyway, please post more insider information that the public cannot possibly know.

it is only a matter a time for most mmorpgs that come out with subscription base layout to turn to f2p or b2p etc. every game has its beginning hype and over that first year alot of things change. for most games, the publisher / dev review what lost they have over the time span and react to its business model to help bring more players in or to keep existing community members. companies say they will update in a set routine, but as time goes by its just factual, that companies will need to slow down due to any circumstances they say. well i knew this would happen best of luck to the game and the players who stay true with it.
I dont think subs will drop. I think they will increase.
1. Even now there are still new players coming in after the B2P announcement.
2. Some previous players are also coming back now.
3. It will be cheaper to maintain / have a sub for DLC if you wanted.
4. The Crowns you get for subbing will add up over time for you to buy any possible expansion or to buy any DLC you want to keep if you let your sub expire.
Zenimax openly announced that they will stop following their initial update plans and completely stop making updates after March "at least until the game settles down".
While I value their honesty, I cannot imagine any veteran player (who has already completed most of the content) spending the next 4-5 months doing pvp and gathering champion points.
And EVEN IF they stayed, why on earth would they keep the sub? They will cancel it and occasionally pay a couple of euros + their initial Crown reward and buy whatever they want.
And who else will subscribe? The freeloaders who came only after the conversion? The reason they didn't play before was that they did NOT want a subscription.
It's only those who invest in consoles instead of gaming-PCs that will subscribe, now that they finally can.
If other MMOs are any indication, not only will subs likely rise but they probably have already.

Yeah Console sales will boost the income for Zenimax and hopefully it really does and reaaaally silly Zenimax for giving couch gamer version only in June cause it's already playable with Consoles.Controls and UI for couch gamer's version are well made. C'mon Zenimax start putting those brainz together and thinking straight. I've been happy to have been one of the supporters since launch as kept sub in automatic renewal mode ever since and still going like that.
Hopefully they won't make huge break's for releasing content updates and they would make totally new non 90's looking UI before ESO to B2P model so that new ppl coming would not get a shock for seeing 90's console like default UI with no UI Mod enhancement.

Zeni knew from the moment they decided on this being a multi-platform game that they wouldn't be able to charge console players a sub to play it. Since they announced playable on consoles at the same time as PC's, they knew from the start and the UI is even geared for consoles.
They have been charging PC users a monthly sub to basically beta test the game and their ideas for the console players whom they feel will be the games bread and butter. Your box price bought you early access and your sub fee let you continue to test the game for them.
If you want to believe otherwise, that is your choice.

They already plummeted. Otherwise they wouldn't change business model in the first place.

And Zenimax knows and invests accordingly.
