Hey everyone,
Finally got the OK to share this with you! We're not too long out on getting our new forums online. I don't have anything I can show you guys just yet, but I wanted to share with you what I can at this point since I know you've all been waiting a long time on some new information. So, two major things:
1) Our new forums will be a subdomain of MMORPG.com and not embedded into the new site. So, think forums.mmorpg.com or community.mmorpg.com.
2) We are going with Vanilla forum software and I am super super excited for this. I'd love for you all to check out the powerful Vanilla feature set here.
TL;DR: We're finally going to have some awesome, robust forums, with tons of cool features!
As soon as we have more to share with you we will.

Isn't this the same forum software that ESO uses?
It looks like they are using Vanilla, yes. Keep in mind that Vanilla is highly customizable, so we can do whatever we want with 'em.
The Vanilla site has a showcase of a number of other Vanilla-powered communities.
We are migrating the database, yes.
Looks pretty bland to me.
dont have much experience with the vanilla forum software but if it's done well, it'll be good!
cant wait, because these forums really aren't all that great to navigate.

They will be much, much faster.
I looked over the Vanilla site and did a lot of reading but don't really see the attraction?
I notice here Mike says MUCH faster, well there seemed to be some real anomalies with speed that never made sense.Example i would often get pages that said loaded in 1 second but in reality just spun and took about 20 seconds to load,so why were they saying loaded in 1 second. That kind of tells me the speed variances were of some other problem, maybe not the provider.
I could not find anything useful to get excited about ,i even got bored and read MMORPG's user agreement and TOS lmao.I don't like when legal documents TRY to always say they are not liable for anything when in reality they most certainly are,but i am more than certain MMORPG lawyers understand what they are signing.
The ONLY thing i can think of here is perhaps the COST,more usage per dollar than the old provider?
I even noticed the so called "cool" emoticons or whatever Vanilla was saying for users that don't upload their own image, ummm "cool" is a bit of an overstatement ,i have seen better on platforms 20 years ago.
Guess we just have to wait and see what this new ordeal is really about and if it really offers anything to the USER's side of things.Having an @ feature imo seeing it used in other places is actually a VERY bad idea because of the way i have seen it used.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
10 middle aged hamsters pushing a car up hill would be a better option then the current forums lol
Please keep the dark theme, or at least give us theme options.
One of the reasons I prefer this site is because I don't get eye strain reading black words across brighter-than-the-sun white backgrounds.
I have to agree with this as well. My only concern is that the "look" of the new forum will change drastically from what we have today. The current is nice and easy to read. So, while I would expect some performance enhancements to be a good thing, appearance changes might be met with less appreciation.
Let's party like it is 1863!
Ok, if it must be. But I have two wishes:
- keep the dark theme. I hate those bright forums.
- let someone with color weakness check your new forums. Don't know why so many developers just forget about 5% of male and some female population.
Thanks and good luck.

most of my posts are just my opinions they are not facts,it is the same for you too.

With change of forums (and recent sad turn of events with Massively), and as ancient user , I would like to propose that you return the old Pub forum rules
For uninitiated let me explain:
Before days Pub was main place of discussion about any MMO. So if you wanted to hear people opinions, news or rant , you just opened Pub and it was all there. (including some epic discussions MMORPG forum goers are infamous for)
The game specific forums were more practical game related ( for instance "Best class for solo") instead of rants.
--
Than for some reason - (probably to many new MMOs coming out) New rile was made that any Rant about specific MMO should be moved to its respectable forum. And it was strictly enforced.
So Pub became silent. And you had to individually hunt for rants by going into every game specific forum. (which is cumbersome, and i personaly have given up doing this)
In short this decision hurt mmorpg.com very much, crippling the forums that are the bloodline of this site.
Now that the MMOs are evolving into something else or going way of dodo all together. It is best that Pub returns to be general place of discussion that consolidates all the rants. The MMOs releases are far and separated as it is. No need to make it even harder for users to get the current rants and news.
So , my warm recommendation for bringing back the glory days.
