Well I am a vet of many mmorpgs and have recently been dissapointed with one that is coming out and is still in closed beta, so I decided to take the chance like a lot in my guild with this RF online and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised! there is still some work to be done with customization of characters and fine tuning but the invironment and game seem very polished.

RF Online sounds like a very intriguing game. Does anyone know of an application URL to apply for the RF Online beta? What stage of the beta testing are they at?

  • DanovitcheDanovitche Member Posts: 94

They are currently at Phase 2 and soon they will be going to Phase 3.
(Fileplanet Subscribers just had their test)

I have been beta testing alot of games during my years in the "community"
However this was a BIG disapointment....

    + Wonderfull Login music
I´d buy an OST if I could.... Still wont play the game.
    + Decent grafic quality.
    It reminds me a bit about Lineage/Ragnarock/Rose .... A-Okay
    + Crafting/MIning
Good thing they atleast had it around....

    - Community
Large Parts of the Community is the worst bunch of ppl I have ever met in an MMO beta.
Small parts are okay and some high levels actualy talk to you if your lucky.
    - Repedetive
Hardly any variation at all.... Missions are always go to area x and kill x ammount of monsters.
rewards are usualy items you dont realy need.....
    - Missions
After level 4 you get missions that are hard to complete solo.
If you want to solo, Bring potions.... TONS of Potions.

I never did become level 30 with was supposed to bring so much "fun" into the game.
Warrior became level 12 (Booring), Specialist also became level 12...

If you wish to try this game, good luck and have fun.
I have just given my point of view on the matter..... id rather be back playing IRO...

Look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death!"

i'm really confused, they are selling pre-order boxes in my country now, and i'm about to buy 1, but this wont be included game is it? i just get the beta key for now, and if i am right i will get the cd's when the game release's?

and annother question, i've only seen gamedownload available tru fileplanet, and i have seen like 100 posts saying the same 'downloaded game from fileplanet, missing data3.cab'.

annother guy is posting about a torent but it only has RF phillipine beta download.

does this mean we cant get this game annywere till release, even if u bought that pre-order thing? i never pre-ordered something be4image so i might be totaly wrong.

just wouldnt like to buy something i cant play for 20 days(till release). if annyone can give me some info, thanksimage

Well, for the US if you pre-order it you can start playing it now. That would be playing the Beta though, and I dunno if at the end of the beta all the chars will be deleted or what....

and how do people from the US get the game?

i thought if u pre order u just get a beta key, not the game yet

  • InferumInferum Member UncommonPosts: 141
You get a beta key for the beta, not the actual game since it's not released yet. The US people will get the game as soon as it's released on the 21th, but if they pre-order it now, they will be able to play the beta, and when the game is released they will get the actual game and will play the real game not the beta...

sorry that didnt help me anny further, thanks annyways.

maybe i should just w8 buying on release date instead of pre-ordering since the only available download of the game is missing files, which make u unable to play if u pre-ordered or not..

  • DulainDulain Member UncommonPosts: 616

Well, if you pre-order now you will be able to download the client and participate in the beta test.

When the game is released, you go to the store and pick up the retail game. So, either pre-order now and get the beta. Or wait until the game is released, and miss the chance to help beta test the game. Either way, you get the full game when it is finally released. In most stores you don't even need to pay for the full game to get a pre-order package.

I got into the beta thru my FilePlanet subscription.

Forgive me but my only real MMORPG experience comes from WoW so my first impressions were pretty biased to the completely different gameplay and mechanics.

After leveling two characters past 10 I decided to go check out their forums and read some FAQs. I rerolled after that and have since got a Cora Warrior to 14. This game does not initially appeal to the "hardcore" gamer as the leveling system is not designed to benefit those who can "power level." From what I understand, I'm only level 14, is that the end game (50) is much more suited to those that are "hardcore" gamers as opposed to "casual" gamers.

The PvP doesn't start until 30. 1v1 PvP has been basically eliminated (on purpose as I understand it) with the potion spamming system. Potions are cheap and have a 1 sec cooldown so you can spam till your heart is content (and still beating). The item system seems to be pretty neat thus far. Everything is pretty much level based to start but once you get past ten you will notice that along with the level req. you will have a skill req. for certain types of weapons and armor.

Warriors *can* be Casters and Casters *can* be melee which I think is cool. I would be interested to see how diverse the classes can each become at the end game level but I don't think I will be paying for this game. If in fact the end game is more for the "hardcore" gamer, like almost everysingle MMORPG, then I won't have the time or ability to make the fun last.

All in all I definately recommend checking this game out if you get the opportunity.

you are wrong m8 - there is nothing in here for a hardcore gamer unless your view of a hardcore gamer is someone that wants to play a very average game dolled up to the nines with slic marketing.

There is nothing in here at al, the pvp is pointless becasue of the ability to pot spam, the economy is rubbish becasue you can simply afk mine all night every night to make millions, the characters all merge into one another becasue of the way you can customise them, the world is small and undetailed so there is not much to keep you here.

meleeing casters might seem cool - but it means you make a mockery of the whole class system. Casters cast they should never be able to stand toe to toe with a warrior and slug it out spamming pots.
As soon as they can do that you have character class by name only not by substance.

Hmm. Well, I doubt you will ever see casters standing toe to toe with melee because you HAVE to be wielding a staff in order to cast. So a warrior that wants to wield a staff and not have use of any of his weapon specific skills(which does not include staves) would get his butt kicked and a caster wielding an axe wouldn't be able to cast, so...

I'm playing a Cora and my warrior *can* cast a melee buff out of the "dark" (cora only) school of magic w/out having a staff equiped, but thats the only spell that is worthwhile so far.

It also seems that you *can* focus on trying to get every skill/spell in the game on one char but it seems that would gimp you in the long run.

I can't remember what I read on their forums stating that the end game was more for hardcore gamers but i know it was there somewhere.

You say that PvP is gimped because of the potions... It's just 1v1 PvP that is gimped, throw together a group and you've got it. Personally I enjoy 1v1 which is another reason I most likely won't be purchasing this game.

Honestly, its hard for me to form a real good opinion on this game as it is just a grind until 30 when you can join in with the PvP(as I understand it) and I won't be getting that far in the Beta.

The Beta is now open to everyone at Fileplanet. You just have to make a free login there at Fileplanet to download it. If you wanted to check this one out, you can do so without pre-ordering it first. I'm not sure if this is the same beta that is going on with the pre-order or just a stress test server.

The games premise, the core battles, are part of the game play itself. The reason the races PvP is to take control of the Central Mines in an effort to gather precious ore. If you have the central mine tax for your race goes down thus items are cheaper. If you have lost the mine the items are more expensive. A gold system is in place where you can turn your assets (currency unique to each race) in a non-fluctuating tender. Good implementations exist: Nation Leaders, Guild Battles as well as the skill system. However the qualities which identify Korean MMO's are present here such as Limited Character Customization, Repetitive Gameplay as well as the Translation (CCM will fix this). All in all give it a shot, though rough around the edges in some areas it might be for you.

    I really like it

Well I have leveled a couple of characters to around 10 ( yes I know thats not enough to make a judgement on it) but the game just seems boring to me. I just dont think its the "NEXT" mmorpg with revolutionary ideas, its just another game, pretty in some areas and ugly in a lot more.

What I am waiting for is the game "The Chronicles" that promises both regular characters and perma-death characters.

Personally I find the game to be quite well developed with very little fluff. Thing is, I like fluff. Hopefully with the release they add all the little features that are under developed in the game like character creation, environment fluff like well.. MOTION, ambient sound (thats a longshot), and character interaction.

Unfortunately as it sits now a more well developed (and free) game like Anarchy Online just has had way more time to build depth into the game. RF Online has a long road ahead, but at least its starting with a good base.
